Carl Auboeck Original Workshop Metal Bookends 1950s Aubock Nickel Plated Steel
Up for auction is a rare pair of Carl Aubock bookends from the 1960s. They have been designed by Carl Aubock(1924-1993) and the design years are approximately 1967-69. They are old and original. Not out of the recent production. The material is casted steel, nickel plated. They measure approximately 90mm(3.7 inches) in length and height and are 27mm thick(1 inch) One bookend is slightly bigger than the other one. The finish is rough, but this has been made by the workshop with intention. Condition is used but good, there are a few smaller stains and oxidation spots, nothing that harms the general appearence. Please check the pics and judge yourself. About the history of Carl Auböck The Viennese painter and designer Carl Auböck II was one of the most remarkable artists in Austria. After his death his son Carl Auböck III(1924–1993) and his wife Justine continued the company. This included mainly the design. Production and distribution of the products. Beside his constant international engagement for architecture, design and product development he created thousands of new models for the product line of his workshop. During this period his workshop reputation climbed up to a production company of international standing. In the following decades Auböck Design was offered at the be

Our company info: Galerie Hagenauer Opernring 21 A-1010 Vienna Austria(EU) A short introduction about the Werkstätte Carl Auböck Der Wiener Maler und Designer Carl Auböck II zählt zu den bemerkenswertesten Künstlerpersönlichkeiten Österreichs.

Carl AUBOCK Paperweight CHAIN Nickel Hagenauer era Design Vienna Austria 1950s
Carl AUBOCK"Paperweight Chain" Nickel plated We are offering this original and massive Carl Auböck Paperweight in the design of a metal chain. The design dates back to the 1950s. As Carl Auböck IV explained to me a ritual in the last centuries led to the idea of this chain as a paperweight. Traditionally. In the past centuries a dead sailor has been buried at sea. During this ritual the sailor used to be wrapped in his hammock together with some parts of a heavy anchor chain. This object is handmade in Austria in the Auböck workshop(Vienna, Bernardgasse) which is now run by Carl Auböck IV. The material is steel, nickel plated. The object is very heavy(I think almost 1kg) and 21cm(8.5 inches) long. The objects made by the Aubock family are in production in the 4th generation and are a great piece of Viennese design ... moreand history. Carl Aubock Book Ends Polished Hands Bookends Art Deco Modern
AUSTRIA(1900-1957) When Carl Auböck's wife would hear quarrelling coming from the workshop near their home in Wien. Austria, she knew better than to venture inside. It wasn't for fear she might witness an unsavory dispute; she well knew a sensational idea was about to be born. A man who spent the better part of his life in the very metal shop founded by his father, Auböck would become one of the best-known figures of Austrian modernism. Although he left to study painting at Vienna's Academy of Fine Art and became a student of the Bauhaus(1991-1921) he preferred the comfort of home and returned in 1925 to take over his father's workshop, Werkstatte Carl Auböck, where he apprenticed as a teen. In his early years heading up the workshop. Auböck would carry on production of Wiener Bronzen, the enameled miniature ... morefigures his father had created. He continued to pursue painting in his spare time, but it wasn't until he gained commercial success with his abstracts that he began to experiment with design of a modern, more functional art object. His material of preference was brass, which he often treated with a process of patinating and polishing to achieve a contrast and character rarely seen in brass works. The result demonstrates not only his mastery of modern form but a great awareness of and respect for the metal itself. His Optimist-Pessimist and Man with Cane brass figures sum up his modernist attitude- an attitude that abstained from ornamental indulgence of any kind and embraced craftsmanship, simple form, humor and soul. Not only did Auböck follow in his father's footsteps. He produced an heir who would more than carry on production of his endearing designs. Carl Auböck III(1924-1993) brought to the family a commercial status recognized around the globe. An internationally celebrated designer in his own right, Carl III thought that good design could heal the world. His son, the fourth Carl, has stepped in to ensure that the healing will continue. Carl AUBOCK Paperweight CHAIN Brass Hagenauer era Auböck
Carl AUBOCK- Paperweight"Chain" We are offering this original and massive Carl Auböck Paper-weight in the design of a chain. The material is steel, brass plated. The object is very heavy(I think almost 1kg) and 21cm long. In my other auctions you will find a nickel plated version of this chain. The objects made by the Aubock family are in production in the 4th generation ... moreand are a great piece of Viennese design and history. Please see my other listings as I offer many beautiful objects from the Auböck Workshop! Order as many pieces as you want. You will only pay shipping one time!
