And powerful brute strength a Viking Huscarl gained respect among Europeans. This Norseman stands proudly digging his two-sided axe into the ground and stepping one foot a level higher in the signature pose of power and pride. Fully outfitted in armor, shoes, and a cape this warrior has all the elements of a great fighter. This 100% bronze sculpture was crafted using the lost wax method. The piece stands on a circular black marble base. It is signed Chris Miles. The Art of Lost Wax Lost wax casting has ... morebeen around for thousands of years. Yet few people understand how the process actually works. Although mechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. These molds are the only components that are ever re-used in the casting process. All other components are re-created for each casting. The Wax Positive Once the molds are done. The insides are coated with layers of wax. The halves are then bound together and wax poured inside to complete the wax image being created. Once the wax has cooled. The mold is peeled away, yielding a wax image(the wax positive" duplicating the original sculpture. This image must then be"touched-up" t

Antique Art Armor Bronze Bookends Signed J.A. Meliodon Greek Sculpture Nude Male
Hello and thank you for stopping by our auction! We have a little bit of everything. And usually a little something for everyone! Most all of our items come from estate sales and auctions, but some items are our own belongings no longer needed. We love all things old, unique and different and even a few that are strange or down right weird! Please note* we typically use the shipping calculator and we've noticed that several times the shipping calculator is charging more for shipping than needed. If you EVER question the shipping charge being shown, PLEASE contact us so we can give an accurate quote. DESCRIPTION: This set of bookends are absolutely gorgeous! These are antique bookends. From about 1928, so they are not new items. But they are in very nice condition. No chips, knicks or cracks. They are made of bronze-clad, and have a green ... morefelt bottom, that felt has worn over the years. I'll say they show normal usage wear, but other than what I've listed, there is nothing of damage to them. I'm told that this sculpture is"Sisyphus- the King of Corinth" in the Greek Mythology world. The story behind it is something about his rolling a boulder uphill and due to his deceitful behavior. He was destined to repeat it forever.for some reason I don't think I have the story completely correct, so don't quote me on that part: They are signed by J.A. Meliodon. And they have a makers mark as well, which I've tried to show pictures of all the markings. One has a makers sticker on the bottom as well, but it was torn, you can still full read it, and that says.THE ARMOR BRONZE CORPORATION NEW YORK CITY ARMOR BRONZE. These two bookends are just beautiful. They each measure 8 1/2" high x 6" wide x 3 1/2" deep. Gorgeous pieces to add to a collection. Even better set to start your new collection! Shipping: Most likely this item will ship via UPS or Fedex. However, if you have a preference for shipping please let us know in the comment section of your payment, we are more than happy

This set has not been listed in any price guide as of this date and would be considered extremely rare and especially considering their wonderful near flawless condition. Only a few productions by National Metalizing were signed and none that I have ever seen in my 45 years of collecting had the foil type label displayed later by Armor Bronze. Armor Bronze collectors will absolutely love this adorable set. Description: This bronze clad set depicts an American Indian Brave more than likely ready to mount his horse in readiness to take flight from either battle or some type of immediate danger. Some have summorized this set has a depiction of the overall"Flight" or movement of the American Indian away from the influx of foreign immigrants who were taking over the Indians home lands. The set was titled by the artist as“The Flight” so it is obvious the brave is fleeing from some type of danger. This L-shaped is very simplistic on the back side but very ornate on the fronts. The top is adorned with ribbon like scrolling leading down to the title box containing the words“The Flight” The bareback horse is rearing and contained by the Indian holding the reins in his left hand and full length spear in his right. The base appears to place the horse and rider on flat rocks or flagstone base which may indicate the

RARE CENTURY OLD ANTIQUE CAST BRONZE INDONESIAN CEREMONIAL DINJIA ARMOR BOOKENDS
This bookend set is exemplary possessing intricacies that antique dealers and collectors admire. While also being in excess of a century old, and in prime condition. Depicted are Indonesian Men in Ceremonial Battle Armor. This Armor. Is too detailed to describe here, but many such suits and outfits are showcased at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. What is seen here, is very true to what was actually worn by the elite of dynastic societies associated more closely with China. Both are without foundry marks or inscriptions. The bases on which each men are knelt. Are the same as the bases seen on a few Ronson pairs that came later. It is known though, that Ronson Metal Works, of Newark, NJ produced a highly selective line of Asian themed pairs. However, those on record are all either cast white or gray metal, finished in a wide variety of paints ... moreand decorative metals. The chance does exist that these are indeed Ronson, but a set made of higher grade material, brass and bronze, and also a set that may have been produced at the U.K. factory early in the 1930's. These seem a bit older though. While never a pleasant action. The reader must be informed that there is inconspicuous damage to one. Look closely, under the knees of one, there is a hole. This isn't visible when just sitting, but looking from the underside, it is there nonetheless. That same one, has an uneven bottom edge, it looks cast that way. The other bookend base it fine, with what looks like a scratch in the picture, in reality it is much less. These are dusty. And left in as found condition. The twist in"finials" on the helmet are original and have an intentional curvature. When screwed in place exactly, these stand vertically and give these even more height than what each already have. Both are 9" Tall. 3.5" Wide x 3.5" Deep, and weigh 6 lbs. Both are sturdy with a little wobble to the figures. Overall. These are great! Old, authentic, and definitely Antique, and a set that one may never see again. Froo www.froo.com | Fr

Pirate with Sword/Very Nice circa 1928 Bronze Clad Armor Bronze Antique Bookends
See my Store for many more antique bookends in nice condition! You are bidding on a set of polychrome bronze clad antique bookends that depict a pirate holding a sword and leaning against a tree trunk. They were manufactured circa 1928 by Armor Bronze with their name on the rear(seen in photos) The base measures 4.25 x 3.5-inches in size. And it stands 10.5-inches in height, which is extremely tall for most bookends. One bookend weighs 42.6 ounces and the other one weighs 38 ounces. See photos for more details. These bookends are in very good condition. There are no cracks or chips in the metal surfaces. There is a bump to the rim of the hat on each bookend. Some waves in the swords, and the felt pad on the bottom is nearly wore off on one bookend. The painted surfaces have a few areas where the paint has been rubbed off. I'd estimate ... moreabout a 5% loss and it is therefore not readily noticeable. The painting is unusual in that the gold paint from the torso area appears as runs on the pants in a couple of areas, but may have been part of the design. A nice set showing only a few blemishes. See my eBay Store for more very nice antique bookends. Buyer's have the right to request from me other forms of payment. Winning bidder to pay $23.00 in USPS Priority shipping and insurance. Antique Pierrot clown music ashtray desk coin tray Armor Bronze original paint
Wonderful antique ashtray adorned with the figure of Pierrot. The sad and hapless clown of 17th Century European stage comedies. Pierrot is wearing his customary suit of baggy trousers, loose-fitting blouse with oversized buttons and ruffled collar, holding his lute with one hand and scratching his head in bewilderment with the other. Clearly an ashtray. But doubles as a tray for desk or dresser top, for coins, stamps, earrings. Or simply a charming and unusual decorative piece for your living room or mantel. Bronze clad by Armor Bronze. Original label still affixed to the bottom. Circa 1920's(when the company had changed its name from National Metalizing to Armor Bronze) Condition is excellent. No damage to the cladding; nothing dented or scratched; nothing broken off or glued back on. Paint all is original and almost entirely intact. ... moreEven the inside of the bowl is in good shape. Glass insert probably is original- it fits perfectly. And other inserts I have for Armor Bronze pieces are either this same amber color or a ruby red. 6 1/2 inches tall; 5 1/2 inches wide(from the end of one cigarette rest to the end of the other) 5 1/2 inches front to back. BOOKENDS ARMOR BRONZE CLAD FISHERMAN SALVATORE MORANI EXCELLENT
Check. AUCTION DESCRIPTION: ARMOR BRONZE 1917-1929“Fisherman” aka“Trawler Man” This set of matched bookends depicts an old time fisherman or many times called a trawler man. The trawler name came from a type of boat used to fish in lakes and the ocean. They used different types of nets for catching different types of fish. Some nets allowed the fish to swim through them just far enough to be caught by the gill flaps and stopped the fish from backing out of the net. The net shown with this fisherman appears to have been a drift type net for it has floats attached to the nets. The float were attached to the top of the nets and allowed the net to stay on the surface and hang down. Many times the net was drug through the water with two boats attached to each end and the fish were caught just under the surface. The hard part about this type net ... morefishing was once the nets were full of fish the fishermen had to pull the nets in by hand and it was a very hard job in deed. The person with this all day job was sometimes described as a toiler simply because it took tremendous strength to pull in a net full of fish. This fisherman wears the typical seafaring hat seen by many working men who were on boats of any kind. The wide brimmed hat kept the pouring and splashing water out of their faces as they worked on the ship and boat decks. This fisherman displays a hardened body of strength and a very determined and strained facial expression. This set is a true natural honey bronze colored(NOT PAINTED) clad set in absolutely wonderful original condition with deep aged patina in the fisherman’s net crevices and other deep non wear areas. There is no damage. No breakage, or clad separation from the inner mold and the wire wicks were shown before I put on a new set of original green colored bottom felts. This is one of the larger sets designed by Salvatore Morani and is a part of several sets depicting laborious men of different trades. Morani designed for several companies including Armor Bronze Foundry by whom this set was pro
BOOKENDS ARMOR BRONZE CLAD PUPPY DOG ORIGINAL DARK CHOCOLATE COLOR RARE PAIR
Check out my other items! AUCTION DESCRIPTION: Armor Bronze-National Metalizing Co. 1917-1948“Snuggling Puppies” Circa: 1918-20 Guaranteed to be one of the oldest and all original Armor Bronze Production’s in the early bronze clad issue. These have a wonderful chocolate bronze finish with aged and bold patina. This set has not been listed in any price guide as of this date and would be considered extremely rare and especially considering their wonderful near flawless condition. Armor Bronze collectors will absolutely love this adorable set. This set’s theme is two small puppies cuddled together with one resting his head on the others hip while the other is resting his or her head on the rib area. The breed appears to be English or Irish setter or possibly another type hunting dog. It would also be my guess that they are resting on a very ... morelarge canine pad of the time or possibly just a cloth pallet of hay. The bottom of the base is sculpted with an ornate design leading me to believe it is a very large canine bedding pad. They are both signed in the earliest Armor Bronze shield and script of Armor Bronze Co. and copyright sign which also indicates the earliest of Armor productions. Note: Since very early bookends were made for smaller books of the times many people have found they can use bookends for numerous other jobs. I have used this set for simply paper weights. Specifications: Height: 4.50” Depth: 4.25” the pair, Width: 5.15, Condition: This set is in excellent to near mint condition. Cladding is completely tight to under mold. There are no felt coverings and the bottom cladding is tight with original raked lines on one and the other is smooth with wire wick ends present. This set is the only set I have ever owned or seen in my 43 years of collecting and selling bookends and I have contacted several of the oldest collectors I have corresponded with over the years and it is the only pair they have ever seen. So I would venture to say this is one of the rarest sets Armor produced. PLEASE OBSERVE ALL PICT

Check out my other items! Auction Description: Armor Bronze-National Metalizing"Vanderdeken" 1560 Circa 1925 This set of wonderful matched bookends was more than likely created due to an old folklore about a historic ship and its captain. The bronze clad set is nearly mint in condition. Found packed away in a three story Victorian mansion attic they were brought to auction and purchased by me years ago. If you are a Armor Bronze bookend collector this is a must opportunity to buy one of the nicest sets available. The Flying Dutchman is a legendary" ghost ship" that can never make port and is doomed to sail the oceans forever. The myth is likely to have originated from 17th-century nautical folklore. The oldest extant version dates to the late 18th century. Sightings in the 19th and 20th centuries reported the ship to be ... moreglowing with ghostly light. If hailed by another ship. The crew of the Flying Dutchman will try to send messages to land. Or to people long dead. In ocean lore, the sight of this phantom ship is a portent( something that foreshadows a coming event of doom. See Wikipedia“The Flying Dutchman. vintage Armor Bronze art deco ashtray, 1927 matching lamp and bookend available
Prior to 1914 just about all high-end sculptural artwork was solid bronze. About that time a company called Kathodian Bronze Works began manufacturing small sculptural artwork such as bookends(back then they were called“book rocks” and statuary using a process imported from Europe around the turn of the century known as electroplating or electroforming. About the same time a company called National Metalizing Company also began making this statuary. Calling the finish"Armor Bronze" After WWI the assets of this Armor Bronze division were spun off as a new entity- The Armor Bronze Company of New York City. A third high-end bronze clad manufacturer called their finish“Galvano Bronze” a term coined by and Italian emigrant in New York named Mori. The name was in honor honor of Luigi Galvini. A noted Italian for whom the term“galvanized” ... moreis named. By the end of the Roaring Twenties manufactures such as Pompeian Bronze. Galvano Bronze and Kathodian Bronze were gone. The Great Depression swallowed-up most of the“bronze clad” artisans– as the process was deemed to be too expensive and time consuming. Armor Bronze and Marion Bronze were the only two makers left after 1930. Offered here is a very uncommon art deco ashtray by Armor Bronze with the elusive glass insert. It is in great condition. Circa 1927 Bronze clad And I have the matching bronze clad lamp that goes with it- it is listed separately. Bronze clad no breaks in the cladding- often the metal under the glass insert is damaged but not the case with this one. Patina is great. Armor bronze name faintly visible on the backside. See photos for condition. No felt- I would be happy to put one on I have included a photo of a single matching bookend with this ashtray(last photo) Note the difference is sizes of the bases. The coin tray is about 8 inches tall and 7-1/2 wide The coin/ashtray weighs 4 pounds 7ounces. Shipping is $25 including insurance.
