Here is a molasses jug made out of pottery that was used back in the day to store Moonshine. I can't say this one had moonshine in it. Jug stands a tad over 11 inches tall and is 7 inches across the base. Does have two chips which is common with these jugs to have some chipping from lots of use. ANTIQUE LARGE CHINESE OR JAPANESE JUG WITH SPOUT AND FLAT HANDLE With apologies for not knowing much about this pottery jug. The auction features a large Chinese or Japanese pottery jug with a short spout and four small loops through which I imagine twine or other materials would be looped to use as a carrying handle. This jug has a flat lid that is indented in the center and has a calligraphy character printed on top(pictured) The jug is 9-1/2" tall and about 8-1/2" in diameter at the center. It is primitively decorated on bluish white glazed ground with simple cobalt blue designs. This piece is quite old and does have some condition issues. I assume it was in household use, not just intended for display, and the use has caused a hairline crack to the lid(pictured) and a chip to the underside of the spout(pictured) along with a ... morediscolored area that appears to be a crack, though it also seems to be discolored under the glaze. We believe this piece was made by Na White& Son from Utica, New York, for the pine tree in cobalt blue was common on many of their pieces, though that is the only marking we can find on this awesome piece! It stands at approx. 10 3/4" tall and the base it 7" in diameter. We are calling it shabby chic due to two small chips out of the base and a few flea bites, but that is the only imperfections we can find in this really nice whiskey jug! Beautiful Classic Vintage Rockingham Cobalt Blue/ White Hunting Ball Jug. It stands 8 inches tall. 6.5 inches wide. It is embossed on both sides, one with the hunt master and on the reverse side a scene from the chase with hunters, horses and dogs. The Fox can be found in the figural handle. Up for bid is a gorgeous jug manufactured by Harris Pottery in Chicago. Illinois in excellent used condition. It is 9 inches tall, 18 inches in diameter, with a 2 inch opening at the mouth. It is in excellent condition, shiny, glossy, and is free of any cracks or chips. The manufacturer sticker is still intact. This jug is a beautiful pottery piece. It has a white base. With a signed painted embellishment on one side. Featuring two purple plums, six cherries, and flower blossoms, this is a beautiful detail. The jug has a small handle near the top. The only flaws I can detect are surface contact marks on the underside of the jug. The jug does have a few tiny freckles on the glaze. A common occurrence in crockery. These are barely detectable unless you go looking for them. Vtg/Antique 11" White Glazed Stoneware Jug-Buckeye Pottery-Macomb, IL-1882-1939
Offered is this vintage or antique glazed stoneware jug. Made by the Buckeye Pottery Company of Macomb, Illinois and marked on the bottom with their buckeye tree logo. Internet research finds that this company was in business from 1882-1939, when they were bought by another pottery company. I describe the color as"white" but of course as with most jugs it is not pure snow-white. But more of an ivory or very pale beige. It stands about 11" high and is just over 7" across on the bottom. I did not measure the jug's capacity but assume it is one gallon? The jug has a cork. Stamped with the words"Hardware& General Store" The jug is in very good condition. There are some small chips around the top rim and a couple of short. Thin surface cracks near the bottom(see last photo) Just about the entire jug shows ... moresurface crazing. As you might expect. This is a heavy item so shipping will be rather expensive. I am calculating the shipping using USPS but will send FedEx Ground if that is cheaper. I would also welcome pickup in person by anyone close enough to make that feasible. Please take a moment to look at the other items in my eBay store!
