I really don't know anything about this beautiful piece of pottery. It measures about 9 inches tall and 16 inches around at the widest point. It appears to be quite old and has Poland stamped on the bottom. There no cracks or chips just a few imperfections in the piece. Offered is a beautiful old top-heavy jug made of sturdy stoneware. It has a chocolate brown finish that I believe to be Albany Slip glaze. And comes with a cork which I have not removed due to its brittleness…I will leave that to the buyer. The jug is 8” tall, with a base diameter of 5 ½” and an upper half diameter of 6” I’m sorry that I cannot tell you the volume it holds, but my guess is about ½ to ¾ gallon. Although that is a size you don’t often run across. It is not marked by the maker that I can see. It is in excellent condition, especially since it is over 100 years old, with no chips or cracks. Most times it is just the top. There are two things that I will mention about it and you can decide for yourself with the pictures. Towards the bottom below the handle is a small dime sized piece that is chipped off a little. It does not go through and is just on the surface. But is there just the same and needs to be mentioned. The other one is on the handle where the thumb is placed. It is a different color than the rest. I am not sure if this was made like this to give the thumb a not so smooth surface for gripping possibly. It looks to have been made like this from the factory because the color closest to the spout bleeds over onto the lighter colored part. Regardless. Antique Vtg Brown Foot Warmer Horse Buggy Stoneware Hot Water Primitive
This old foot warmer came from an auction in Vermont. I do not see a maker's mark. It measures 11 1/4" long and just over 6" in diameter at the widest point. There are a couple of chips on the side. See the 7th picture, and a couple of chips on the rim by the cork. The cork has some pitting. I have not taken the cork out. There are a couple of small pit marks. There are no cracks. Please see all pictures to help with the description. It weighs 4 pounds, 6 ounces. In the 8th picture you can see some white specks, possibly made during the manufacturing process or possibly paint specks.

Antique Stoneware Advertising Jug. Charles& Co, New York" in SCRIPT, Brown& Tan Whiskey, EXC 8.25" Tall X 5.25" Bottom/underside diameter. 1 GALLON. Maker Unknown. Excellent Antique Condition. A couple of glaze skips. Crazing comensurate with age. One very small chip along the outside of the mouthpiece(see listing and photos please for greater detail) Script is clear and bright; shows almost no wear. 2 Glaze skips. Both about the size of the one pictured. Crazing is most notable on the bottom 1/3 of the jug as well as on the underside. One very small. Shallow chip along the outside rim of the mouthpiece(approx. 1/8" Any slight chips on the underside are under the glaze coat. 1/2" cut mark" under the glaze coat along the side brown area(see photo) I was able to find a"Charles& Co. Great looking old tyme stoneware whiskey style 1 gallon jug with a single handle. It measures approx. 11" tall and 7" across the bottom. There are many flaws in the finish that have been there since the jug was produced. Even the chip on the bottom rim has a glaze on it so probably original. Study pictures for condition. It is a LARGE piece and the form is very unique with the single handle and deep ribbing on the handle. There are several markings on the bottom. But, some are hard to read or seem incomplete. It is marked Finest Stoneware, Made in Scotland, 180/26, P. I am not familiar with the company stamp/ logo; however, I believe that it is Buchan. Portobello. There is an area close to the bottom edge with a faint blue marking, it almost looks like initials. But I can't be for sure. It measures approximately 9 1/2" tall with the stopper. 7 1/4" tall without the stopper. 2 1/2" length of stopper. 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" bottom base. 15 1/2" around the widest area of the jug. Overall, it is in very good condition with a few issues. The bottom does ... morehave some table top wear. There is some discoloration on the inside lip. The stopper has a small rough rub area pointed out in a photo and it seems to be missing the cork that went around the stopper, so the stopper fits loosely inside the jug. This a little brown jug from the Ozarks. Pottery or stoneware. It is old but I don't know how old. 7.5" tall x 5" across bottom. Weight is approx. 3 pounds. Someone has painted this, perhaps in an attempt to make it look like Ozark Roadside Pottery. I tested a little spot and the paint would be easily removed with mineral spirits or something similar. Very charming and primitive as is. Notice the chip on the rim and the paint job is chippy depending on the way you turn it. From a non-smoking. No pets home. Vtg/Antique 11" White Glazed Stoneware Jug-Buckeye Pottery-Macomb, IL-1882-1939
Offered is this vintage or antique glazed stoneware jug. Made by the Buckeye Pottery Company of Macomb, Illinois and marked on the bottom with their buckeye tree logo. Internet research finds that this company was in business from 1882-1939, when they were bought by another pottery company. I describe the color as"white" but of course as with most jugs it is not pure snow-white. But more of an ivory or very pale beige. It stands about 11" high and is just over 7" across on the bottom. I did not measure the jug's capacity but assume it is one gallon? The jug has a cork. Stamped with the words"Hardware& General Store" The jug is in very good condition. There are some small chips around the top rim and a couple of short. Thin surface cracks near the bottom(see last photo) Just about the entire jug shows ... moresurface crazing. As you might expect. This is a heavy item so shipping will be rather expensive. I am calculating the shipping using USPS but will send FedEx Ground if that is cheaper. Amazing. Antique, single-handled, stoneware, 1.5 gallon, jug- possibly used as a liquor storage container. BLANCHARD& FARRAR 14& 15 DOCK SQUARE BOSTON" clearly and deeply stamped in BLUE on the front. From the information we could gather on the web, Blanchard& Co. were importers and wine merchants at 31 Faneuil Hall Square, Boston, MA. in the late 1800's/early 1900's. Jug measures just under 12" tall; with a 6 3/4" base. Opening 1 1/2" Weighs apprx. 6 1/2 lbs. Fantastic condition, considering its age- smooth glaze finish; nice solid ridge line around the neck. Glaze on top of handle shows some thumb-wear. Jug has a small chip at the spout and a couple of small, hairline cracks near the spout that appear to be superficial and in the glazing surface only.
