This small vintage or antique dark brown glazed stoneware pitcher features a rough raised design all the way around and an extra-big handle. The pitcher stands about 3 1/4" high and is approx. 4 1/2" across from handle to spout. There is some wear on the glazing and a couple of minor chips but otherwise is in very good condition. It is marked with what looks like"75" on the bottom; could be referring to 1875. 1975(although I think it's older than that) or something else entirely. S/H includes insurance. This commemorative jug was for a" Wet Down" of 2 of the departments new fire trucks back in 1987. It has the name Claude on the bottom which I believe must have been a member of the department. This is a great vintage find. It came from an"of a 89 year old woman. She said it was her fathers and mothers. The jug is in wonderful condition. There is only one small chip on it. It is on the side of the mouth(see picture 4) There has NOT been any repairs. There are no cracks on the jug. Just that one small chip. I measures 9 1/2" X 8" some surface scratches nothing dramatic. The one gallon jug is made of stoneware and with brown glazed also has the original corncob stopper. I have not tried to clean it. I always leave that to the new owner. This is a AS IS sale. There are no markings on this jug. There is a chip on the bottom and on the neck. Near the handle, see photos. The fourth photo shows a closeup of the top rim which may appear as a chip, however, after close examination, this defect was made in the making of this jug. Stands 9 1/2" tall. The diameter is 5 1/2" across the bottom. There is crazing under the glaze on the bottom portion and a number of poc marks, very crudely made.

Measures 11" high with a 7-1/8" diameter at the base. No major chips(in fact. I don't see any on the rim at all, where they usually occur-see photo and judge for yourself) No cracks or breaks. A few places near the bottom where the maker did not apply glaze, as is typical of older pieces. A few light brown streaks-see last photo. Vintage Ceramic Glazed Whiskey Jug Brown Top Old Cork Display
Nice old jug. About 12" tall to the top of the rim. I don't see any serious defects. The brown over color has a couple thin spots near the handle on one side. They look like damage in the photo but they seem to be original and were there when it was fired. The cork is very old, it has shrunk a bit so it fits loose and it is brittle. I think that's a good sign that this is an old piece. Not sure what it holds, maybe one and a half to two gallons. See photos for exact condition. USA shipping only. Vintage/Antique Brown Stoneware Glazed Gallon Jug w/ Handle Gorgeous Heavy
Up for sale is a vintage/antique brown stoneware gallon jug I purchased at an estate sale. It appears to be in decent condition with some minor wear and tear. I do not see any cracks in the handle or on the piece itself. Just some flaws in the finish which were common in the making of these jugs. Each was hand made, so every one is individual and it's own work of art. The top is glazed brown and it has one handle on the side of the spout. The base is thicker and is stoneware. There is no makers mark, so I am unsure on how old this piece is or where it was made or by whom. All I know is this is a very solid, heavy, quality made piece that upon looking at it, one can tell it was handmade. This would make a fine display piece in any kitchen, dining room, den, bar, family room, garden, etc etc. I suppose you could even bottle your'shine ... morein it for more authenticity, appears to hold approximately one gallon. This jug is approx. 20" high, 10 3/4" diameter, with a circumference of 34 1/2" and it's approx. weight is 18lbs. It is stoneware up to 9 1/2" high and then is topped off with a brown shiny glaze with only a few scratches here and there for it's nearly century old lifetime.
