The simple shape of this pitcher helps to play up the rich colors and transfer. This measures approximately 5 3/4" tall and 5 1/2" at its widest. We are calling this shabby chic due to some surface crazing both inside and out. There are some minor scratches on the exterior as well. Really a nice piece with great detail! Good Luck! If you like this style. Please check out our other auctions. We have several pieces like this one! This is a little history we found on copper lusterware from jefpat online Luster decorated wares are ceramics to which a very thin metallic film has been applied to the glazed surface for decoration. Firing in a muffle kiln fused the metallic glaze to the ceramic body. Leaving a hard, lustrous finish. Luster decoration has been used on earthenwares, stonewares and porcelain. Note: The English use the spelling“lustre” whereas the American spelling is“luster” Chronology Although luster had been used to decorate Spanish ceramics for centuries. Its use by the Staffordshire potteries did not begin until the end of the eighteenth century. These

Antique English Romantic Blue Jug Pitcher White Toile Transferware Shabby V
This is a beautiful victorian toile pitcher that I ordered on ebay a few years back from England. I was told from the seller who was an antique dealer. That it is an english antique dating late 19th/early 20th century. There are no visible labels or stamps, except for what looks like a very worn engravement at the bottom that looks like a"gb" As you can see in the photos. There are some very subtle minor hairlines/marks due to age. But besides that- overall, the pitcher is in good shape and very pretty.

A Fine Pair of English Crimean War Commemorative Transferware Pottery Jugs,1859
A lovely matching pair of antique Victorian English commemorative jugs in pottery with polychrome painted transfers and pink lustre decoration over reliefs.7 inches high each.Apparently the jugs were made to memorialize the alliance between England and France during The Crimean War of the mid 1850s.A knowledgable party has informed me that their production date was 1859.Possibly Sunderland products. They bear striking similarities to the nautical jugs produced there with their mottos and their bright panted decorations. The added pink lustre trim over the relief designs is particularly beautiful. The pottery is of a surprising delicacy,as most of the Staffordshire wares of this later period can often be clumsy and crude. The transfers depict clasped hands beneath the banners of England and France, which are tied with a delicate ribbon and brightly ... morepainted in their respective colors.Ribbons above and below the flags bear inscriptions such as"God save the Queen"Vive L'Emperur" and"May They Ever Be United"Below is another ribbon that reads"Alma Balaklava Inkermann"an ode that apparently commemorates the infamous Charge of the Light Brigade of October 25,1854 and the battle of Balaklava in the Ukraine. Very nicely done antique jugs. Both in excellent condition.Historically important and lovely to hold and gaze upon. One has an old darkened small chip to the top edge. One also has a slightly faded coloring to the Union Jack but nothing too bad.Another may have been professionally repaired at some point,as a slight difference of the white color of the pouring edge suggests such.I cannot be certain. If it is there, the job is so good as to nearly escape detection completely. They present themselves beautifully and are probably considered rare. Why they were ever here in the wine cellar of my 1850 home I cannot say.Tucked away in an old pie safe for Lord knows how long, they were positively filthy from years of coal dust and grime.Look at how lovely they are now!Period circa 1859.
