Staffordshire Child Creamer Jug WATER HEN Charles Allerton & Sons Transfer Birds
Childs Brown Aesthetic Transferware Creamer WATER HEN Charles Allerton& Sons Staffordshire. England c.1880 This transfer printed toy cream pitcher or milk jug circa 1880 was originally part of an early child's or doll house play tea set. The color is sepia or chocolate brown against a creamy white earthenware. The pear shaped pitcher stands about 3 5/8" tall with a scalloped rim and applied handle. It features a water hen or Guinea Hen(the English name for the American Coot) feeding in a lily pond with cat tails and reeds. The background is an aesthetic composition of lush flowers. Swallows, and an inset of a castle. There is a zig zag patterned trim along the rim. This pattern is pictured and discussed in Lorraine Punchard's Playtime Porcelain and Pottery as well as Petra Williams' Romantic Staffordshire. The jug is ... moremarked Staffordshire England. The pattern name is WATER HEN registered with number 754 by Charles Allerton and Sons. A pottery manufacturer in the Staffordshire region of England who was well known for his whimsical children's tea sets. The little jug is in great condition. With no chips cracks or repairs. The workmanship is haphazard, which is one of the reasons many people collect it.not fine china, and not meant to be; it was made for children and probably considered disposable. The transfers are not aligned neatly, there is runny glaze and little bumps and dips and transfer wrinkles and glazed over edge frits original to the making. The naïve and hasty style adds to the folksy charm. Overall. A very strong example. We have also listed other early children's and miniature antique transferware tea and table wares. And have other patterns available in stock in red, blue green and brown that we would be happy to make available for sale upon request. Let us know if you would like to know more about them. ANTIQUE STAFFORDSHIRE POTTERY FIGURAL CHARACTER JUG- TOBY MUG 10.5" TALL C1850S- 1860S I SHIP WORLDWIDE IMPORTANT BIDDING AND PAYMENT INFORMATION: IF YOU PLAN TO BID ON THIS ITEM AND ARE THE HIGH BIDDER I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THAT YOU DO NOT PAY ME UNTIL YOU RECEIVE MY INVOICE NOT THE INVOICE THAT IS GENERATED IMMEDIATELY AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SALE BY EBAY. Ebay now has rules that all sellers MUST ship items for which they have been paid within one business day without exception. Those who follow my sales and have bought from me over the years know that I have always had a policy of shipping within 24 hours of a sale(see my feedback) However, there are times when I am out of town unexpectedly for a house call, an auction or an estate call and it simply is not possible to get to the post office in time. Also, if you find that there is ... moremore than one item you are interested in bidding on over a given time period and would like to take advantage of combined shipping, please again, DO NOT pay me until the last of those items you're watching has finished. I will then send you an invoice with an adjusted shipping fee which saves on postage. I never charge a"handling fee" I would rather wait a few days on a payment and extend you the advantage of lower shipping fees than to be paid immediately- not ship- and then be scored negatively by eBay for not shipping soon enough. Offered in this sale is a very nice antique Staffordshire pottery figural character mug that I would date to the mid 1800s. It measures roughly 10 1/2" tall x 6" front to back x 5 1/2" wide. The condition is excellent. There are no chips. Cracks, flakes, hairlines or restoration. Please feel free to email with any questions. I always guarantee everything that I sell to be as described. This piece is being sold WITHOUT A RESERVE as long as there is an opening bid. High bidder to pay $10.00 shipping/ including insurance- inside the United States. Please be patient there are 12 photos to be loaded in this auction. Up in this auction is an antique Staffordshire copper luster pitcher. ... moreThis has pink transfer on the side in a leaf and floral pattern. The simple shape of this pitcher helps to play up the rich colors and transfer. This measures approximately 5 3/4" tall and 5 1/2" at its widest. We are calling this shabby chic due to some surface crazing both inside and out. There are some minor scratches on the exterior as well. Really a nice piece with great detail! Good Luck! If you like this style. Please check out our other auctions. We have several pieces like this one! This is a little history we found on copper lusterware from jefpat online Luster decorated wares are ceramics to which a very thin metallic film has been applied to the glazed surface for decoration. Firing in a muffle kiln fused the metallic glaze to the ceramic body. Leaving a hard, lustrous finish. Luster decoration has been used on earthenwares, stonewares and porcelain. Antique English Semi Porcelain Staffordshire Pottery MILK Pitchers
In the early 19th Century. English Staffordshire potteries began experimenting with porcelain like ware that could be cheaply mass-produced. Charles Mason patented this new ware in 1813. Semi-porcelain is commonly referred to as"ironstone" and also goes by other names. Though the fired clay does appear somewhat vitreous, it is actually refined earthenware. By 1850 Staffordshire Potteries had reached their hey day. We are pleased to offer this outstanding Trio of Earthenware English Pottery Milk Pitchers, circa early 1900's for your consideration. The English Antique graphic design is of an English Country scene, with a man, a woman and a dog resting under a tree in a meadow. Tasha Tudor, and her New England Country Style were so typical of these English Potteries. The pair of smaller Milk Pitchers are marked"Finest Quality ... moreEarthenware, Staffordshire England" on the bottom and the larger pitcher is marked"KLM, Staffordshire England" The overall design is just gorgeous with the six sided body of the Milk Pitchers of different size. The Milk Pitchers have a scalloped bottom design and are trimmed nicely in gold. The Trio of Semi Porcelain Milk Pitchers are in Excellent Condition, without cracks or damage and have a time worn patina that is age appropriate. The smallest pitcher has some small burgandy spots that are glazed over so it came that way from the factory. I am starting the auction out at a very reasonable $50 for all 3 pitchers. Normally one one sell for more than that.

Historic Staffordshire Canary America Pitcher Native American Indian Alligator
Here we have one of the rarest historical transfers you will find on a yellow glazed"canary luster" pitcher. Made in the Staffordshire district in the 1810-20 period. This jug has a symbolic figure of"America" in the form of a Native American Indian holding his bow. He has a quiver of arrows on his back and an alligator is behind him. This transfer is repeated on both sides and resides within a silver resist reserve. Under the transfer is the word"America" The pitcher is 6 1/2" tall and has a silver resist sunburst under the spout and bands on the top rim, collar and base as well as the handle. This piece displays well but has had extensive restoration for what must have been a series of cracks. An identical pitcher is in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution and pictured on page 100 in J. Jefferson ... moreMiller's book"English Yellow-Glazed Earthenware" published in 1974 which featured the Leon Collection of"Canary Staffordshire" I can't remember the last time I saw one of these on the market and in perfect condition one of these could command up to $4000.00. Staffordshire Copper Lustre Jug/Creamer 1800 - 1860
Up for a 5 Day Auction is this Gorgeous Copper Lustre Jug. Actually it is a creamer but that is what it would have been called during the time that it was made. Copperlustre was made predominately between 1800 and 1860. This piece is completely covered with the copper to about an inch and a half inside. These were usually over a good grade of earthenware and sometimes over porcelain. The height of the jug is about 4 and a quarter inches at it's highest.the handle. At it's widest it is just under 5 inches. The rim is slightly scalloped. The body is ribbed. There is a scrolling design underneath the spout and handle. There is a surface chip to the right of the handle just below the outside of the rim. Because it is a brick color underneath. Even when looking directly at it, it sort of blends in to some degree. I have photographed it ... morea couple of times. The inside cream area has a number of black specks. Flaws and all. This is still a gorgeous piece! g.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk%601d72f%2Bjw%60hquvg%3Eg-14721bca31d-0x10f-

Antique Toby Jug with Hat C 1840-60 Staffordshire England (NOT A Reproduction)
A very special English Staffordshire Toby Jug with a hat c 1840-60's. He is handsome in his green coat and yellow waist coat. Chair back is wonderful design feature. He is 9.25 inches tall with his hat on and the diameter of the base is 4 inches. 6 inches deep. Overall the jug is in very very good condition for it's age with some crazing& to our knowledge no cracks or chips. The glazing is typical of the time that this jug was made. If you run your finger across the surface, you will feel a very fine seam. Once you feel it, using a 5 power magnifier, you can trace the seam up the Toby, on both sides, and this is where the front and back were connected. Also when you look into the Toby you will see that the feet are hollow showing that it was molded in halves. The workman ship is quite excellent, it is a great old rare piece. It ... morewas said that the reason for the hat was to keep the flies out of the ale and as the years went on, the hats were lost and the newer jugs made without them. All questions are welcomed a nd will be answered promptly. The pictures are an honest representation of condition. Every effort is made to carefully pack and protect your purchase in shipment. 19thc STAFFORDSHIRE Green Pottery DEER in Forest JUG~~Elaborate Design
Offered for sale is this most impressive nineteenth century green pottery jug or pitcher. I believe it was made in one of the English Staffordshire factories but any help would be appreciated. The jug is a matte sage green color with one of the most intricate mold designs I've seen-a large herd of deer in the forest. Some of the deer are molded in relief. The top rim features flowers. Gothic arches and lions heads. The bottom has a band of grapes and vines with a scroll motif on the footed base. The pitcher measures 11" high, 9" from spout to handle and 5 1/2" at the base. There are some impressed markings but I can't decipher them-see enlarged photo. This piece is in very good estate condition. The only flaw I find is a small chip on the inside rim at the top-not distracting but see photos to evaluate. There are no ... moreother problems of any kind noted. This jug really is a showstopper and should be welcome in any collection! The cost of U.S. insured shipping and proper packing varies with your postal zone-see estimate above. If the estimate is high I'll immediately refund your account.

Antique Queen Victoria & Prince Albert Wedding Commemorative Staffordshire Jug
ANTIQUE STAFFORDSHIRE EARTHENWARE JUG COMMEMORATING THE WEDDING OF QUEEN VICTORIA AND PRINCE ALBERT. C. 1840. Here we have a nice and somewhat unusual early Victorian(1840) Staffordshire jug commemorating the marriage of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. With endearingly naive transfer portraits of the young couple on either side and with pink lustre hand painted accents enhancing the creamy gold-stippled white and overglazed periwinkle blue of the piece. Perhaps because this was designed as a royal commemorative, the scheme of decoration is rather involved and elaborate. The greater part of the body of the jug is over-glazed in a smooth, glossy blue, while the handle, spout, interior and two panels for the transfer portraits are glazed in a creamy white with a textured gold stippling effect. Within the two octagonal white panels on either ... moreside of the jug are half-length transfer printed portraits of the young royal couple in a complementary shade of mulberry, Albert in a stiff-collared, epauletted uniform to the left of a gowned, bejeweled, elaborately coiffed and crowned Victoria. The two are identified within the transfer prints in small capital letters above their heads"Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The borders of the stippled white panels within which they appear are outlined in rose lustre, which is also employed to enhance the molded details of the spout and elaborately scrolled applied handle, and in decorative bands painted around the lip and foot of the jug. Further rose lustre flourishes- ivy leaves, flowers, and decorative scrolls- also appear all over the blue over-glazed surface of the pitcher. Rose lustre is characteristic of the Sunderland area so perhaps it was made by one of the Sunderland potters. The jug is unmarked, and I haven't been able to make a definite attribution. This lovely antique British royal commemorative jug measures about 7" in height and 6" in diameter at its broadest point. Condition: Good. No cracks or restorations to body. Handle or spout; some small
