Antique Salt Glazed Stoneware Pottery Jug Crock 1 Gallon 1800s Primitive Whiskey
Antique Jug This auction is for a really nice and very rare antique stoneware jug or crock that has a really nice salt glaze finish. The jug is rather narrow and it’s a very early model. But there are no markings minus what looks like a letter G stamped in the back. The jug measures about 11" tall and it has a very unusual pinched handle design that I’ve never seen. Really nice piece and in excellent condition with no damage. There is a very shallow chip at the mouth but it might just have been manufactured as such– it looks like it’s always been there. Great piece and guaranteed old! I charge a 5.1% sales tax to all Wisconsin residents- sorry. It's mandatory! Thanks for bidding! Shipping rules: If you happen to win more than one auction and live in the United States I will GREATLY discount shipping. Obviously. The discount will ... moredepend on the weight of each individual item and the physical characteristics of the shipment. Discount will be determined once all auctions are closed, or you can email me for the exact cost prior to the auctions closing. Return Policy: Returns are accepted on items in the event there is a discrepancy between the item description above and the actual condition of the item. I am also always willing. At my discretion, to work with the bidder to make sure their experience is positive, and will often return items if it’s not what the bidder expected. Please inquire before bidding if this is unclear. A request for return must be made within 3 days of delivery– there are NO exceptions to this rule. Bleeding_gums rules: Payment must be received within 10 days of auction close. Quality Shipping! Powered by The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.

ANTIQUE AMERICAN SALT GLAZED STONEWARE MILK JUG BLUE & GREY POTTERY
ANTIQUE AMERICAN SALT GLAZED STONEWARE MILK JUG BLUE& GREY POTTERY. FAIR USED VINTAGE CONDITION CRACKS ON BOTTOM AND CHIP ON BOTTOM RIM SEE LAST PICTURES. PART OF A LARGE COLLECTION PLEASE LOOK AT ALL PICTURES BEFORE BIDDING ALL ITEMS SOLD AS IS. 7" TALL BASE 5 3/8" Saltglaze stoneware became popular in the 17th century and is a very hard. Impervious ware typically used for useful wares such as water filters, crocks etc as it doesn't taint flavours. Your jug appears to be quite a late piece in the style of the mid 18th century. The damage of course does affect value, but collectors are always seeking out items of this nature. Salt glaze pottery is stoneware with a glaze of glossy. Translucent and slightly orange-peel-like texture which was formed by throwing common salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of ... morethe firing process. Sodium from the salt reacts with the silica in the clay body to form a glassy coating of sodium silicate. The glaze may be colourless or may be coloured various shades of brown(from iron oxide) blue(from cobalt oxide) or purple(from manganese oxide) Due to the significant amount of air pollution resulting from the process, environmental air restrictions led to the demise of widespread use of salt glazing. THIS IS PART OF A HUGE COLLECTION OF POTTERY AND STONEWARE FROM LOCAL ARTIST AND OTHER PIECES FROM AROUND THE WORLD. SOME ARE ANTIQUE AND VINTAGE AND MANY MODERN PIECES.
