I have photographed it thouroughly so please use zoom feature. All in all. This crock jug is in good condition considering the age. No maker's mark found. Has cork stuck in the opening. This crock is approximately 9" tall and 5-3/4" diameter. I would guess it to be about a half-gallon capacity. Shipping includes insurance and double-boxing for safe delivery. Up for auction from our own collection is a very early Reddish Brown Glazed Stoneware Ovoid Jug. We bought this at a Wisconsin farm auction over 35 years ago. It stands 10 5/8" tall. And is 5" in diameter across the base and approximately 7" in the middle. This is a very early piece of stoneware and I would guess it to be from the 1850's to the 1880's- but please look carefully and do your own dating. It is in excellent condition with just the small pictured chips on the top of the rim spout and some glaze pops. There is also a glaze miss on the handle. I discovered this piece a few years back in a barn in Henry County. Kentucky, and am offering it just as found- magnificent old piece with great form. Has subtly defined ribs from turning. Applied handle, and I really like the shape on this one; shoulders do not flare in a pronounced way, so you ... moreget more of a minie ball shape than a beehive. If it was good enough for a moonshiner, it's good enough for me! Jug holds 8 cups(1/2 gallon) of fluid comfortably to shoulders. Or 9 if the guy filling it up really likes you. Stands almost 10 inches tall and is about 5 1/4 inches diameter at base. Condition is difficult to describe with these pieces, as you expect some normal imperfections in the original glaze, and there may be a few original slips in the paint or pinpoint wear, but there are no notable chips, cracks, dings or repairs of any kind. One area around side/base join looks a bit jinxy, but this is obviously the original craftsmanship and not damage. There is one bit of a nick in the handle, but it is under the original paint and glaze. So it's original. Antique Vtg Brown Foot Warmer Horse Buggy Stoneware Hot Water Primitive
This old foot warmer came from an auction in Vermont. I do not see a maker's mark. It measures 11 1/4" long and just over 6" in diameter at the widest point. There are a couple of chips on the side. See the 7th picture, and a couple of chips on the rim by the cork. The cork has some pitting. I have not taken the cork out. There are a couple of small pit marks. There are no cracks. Please see all pictures to help with the description. It weighs 4 pounds, 6 ounces. In the 8th picture you can see some white specks, possibly made during the manufacturing process or possibly paint specks.

Antique Glazed Primitive Brown Pottery Jug Dtd July 6, 1894, United States
This unusual brown pottery jug was found in my parents' estate. It is unknown what its original use was for(syrup. Liquor perhaps) but it only has one opening on the top where its contents can be poured. Stamped on the top are the words"Patent July 6th 1894" When you shake it, there is a rattling sound which may be the stopper inside. It has a few dings on the bottom in the glaze but otherwise is in perfect shape. There is a swirling mark lighter in the glaze on one side that looks like an"m" The jug is 9 3/4" tall and 7 1/2" from spout to handle.

Very nice. Old, stoneware whiskey jug, in a crock style. I believe it is a 1 gallon size. The top is dark brown and the bottom is a lighter beige. I can find no makers mark anywhere. It has a handle. There are no cracks. It does have two small chips as seen in photos. There are wonderful variations in color around the body that highlights the age and handmade look of this great piece. It weighs 5 1/2 pounds. Measures approx: 12" tall, 7" in diameter across the bottom, 22 1/2" around, 1/14" opening spout. It has a"shiny" surface. I think it was meant for liquor but not certain. Antique Early SWAINE Stoneware Ovoid Jug Brown Glaze Signed Nice Primitive
Primitive Antique Swaine Pottery Jug Estate find from the home of a collector. This is a very nice large Stoneware Jug made by Swaine. Marked/imprinted on the front of the jug. Applied handle with nice decorative touch where the handle is applied to the side(see pic) Beautiful Ovoid Shape and reddish brown glaze. Some minor glaze flaws but no chips or cracks. In very nice antique condition. Swaine pottery was being produced in Sutton Heath. England by Robert and Thomas Swaine in the early 19th century. They were known to have been producing brown and black stoneware between 1825 and 1843. Jug measures about 18" tall. Very Nice Primitive Antique Jug from well know English Potters. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE BROWN GLAZE (ALBANY SLIP?) ONE GALLON JUG NR
This auction is for an antique primitive jug with a brown glaze that I would call'Albany slip. There are a few shallow chips around the outside of the mouth. And there is a tiny glaze chip on one side. There is a skinny half inch indentation on the wall on one side that must be from manufacture. There is wear from use and age, especially to the base. No cracks or crazing. It appears to hold a gallon. The jug stands 9 3/4 inches tall, and the base diameter is 5 3/4 inches. I use First Class Mail. Parcel Select Mail, Standard or Media Mail to save on shipping whenever possible, and I combine items for shipment to save on shipping costs when possible. All items are professionally packed with proper materials and sturdy boxes. This item will ship cheapest by Standard Mail.

This is a very nice vintage antique stoneware brown and tan pottery jug with handle. This is in nice condition! These utilitarian items were well used. Hence the minor chipping along the spout rim and minor brush marks on the brown glaze. This measures 9 1/4 inches tall by 8 inches across including handle. Email any questions. Thanks for looking! VTG LITTLE BROWN JUG OZARKS POTTERY SWIRL PAINTING STONEWARE PRIMITIVE HANDLE
This a little brown jug from the Ozarks. Pottery or stoneware. It is old but I don't know how old. 7.5" tall x 5" across bottom. Weight is approx. 3 pounds. Someone has painted this, perhaps in an attempt to make it look like Ozark Roadside Pottery. I tested a little spot and the paint would be easily removed with mineral spirits or something similar. Very charming and primitive as is. Notice the chip on the rim and the paint job is chippy depending on the way you turn it. From a non-smoking. No pets home.
