You are bidding on a vtg/antique Glen Garry Old Highland Whiskey stoneware jug produced by Port Dundas Pottery(Glasgow. Scotland) somewheres between 1878 and when the factory closed in 1930. From the makers mark we are fairly certain this piece dates to about 1901-1919. Around 1920-1930 Port Dundas Pottery begain marking their stoneware with just the words"Made in Scotland" pic 12) Although Port Dundas was in business since 1828, it wasn't until 1878 when they were the first to introduce transfer printing, onto stoneware and advertised they could stamp bottles in color(In this case black) This would have been with a hand held rubber stamp, taken from an etched copper plate. This stoneware jug is in exceptional condition for its age. No chips. Cracks, or repairs. The original cork is missing. The black transfer graphics are still ... morevery clear and crisp. This listing is for: a salt glaze jug manufactured by the Macomb Pottery Company of Macomb. Ill. They were in business from 1882-1941 so this is a very old piece. This jug is in fair condition. It's quite worn and shows it's age. There are many scrat ches. Chips and some areas where the glaze has come off and is missing(created small holes in the top glaze) The bottom has quite a lot of scratches and chipping. The name is very difficult to read but visible in the right li ghting. There is a crack going up the side of the ju g but doesn't affect it's structure. This piece measures 8.5 inches tall and 7 inches in diam eter at the base. This is a very unusual and attractive piece of stoneware. The only one on Ebay of it's kind. comes from a smoke Free Home. This is an antique 2-gallon Bangor Stone Ware Co. salt-glazed stoneware jug. C. 1880-1917. It is stamped in cobalt blue with the number 2 above"Bangor Stone Ware Co, Bangor Maine" Two drops of glaze from the manufacturing process. As well as several light brown drops from the manufacturing process, can be seen in photographs#1 and#2. A small, shallow surface flake on the outside of the lip near the handle can be seen in photograph#4, along with a few insignificant surface hairlines. An additional surface hairline on the outside of the lip can be seen in photograph#5. A 3-1/4" long surface hairline can be seen in photograph#6. A very small chip on the base can be seen in photograph#8. The photographs show that the jug is in good overall condition. We have for your viewing and bidding pleasure a collectible small antique stoneware jug. It is in a rather unusual and uncommon size. We believe it to be pint sized. It is in the old style and shape called the beehive design. On the bottom it is incised or marked with the name MACOMB POTTERY CO. The jug is in good condition with no breaks or chips. At the very bottom of the handle there is a small lined stress thin age crack. From the bottom of the base to where the cork starts it is about 5 ¼” high. Across the base it is 3” and it is 3 ½” across the widest bulged out area. We are listing the above described at least 100 year old antique jug at a no reserve selling price. 9 1/4" Antique Stoneware Ink? Bottle-Denby Pottery-T Davids Co, New York
Offered is this antique stoneware bottle with pouring spout. The bottle has a beautiful reddish-brown glaze. Somewhat variegated in color. It is stamped by the manufacturer. Denby Pottery of England and is also stamped"T. Davids Co New York" The Thaddeus Davids Co. was a big New York ink retailer in the mid to late 1800s. I believe. But am not certain, that this is one of their ink bottles, made for them by Denby. The bottle stands approx. 9 1/4" high and is about 3 1/2" in diameter at the base. It is in very good to excellent condition. With no chips or cracks. There are some bumps. Dips, rough places, etc. on the bottle surface, under the glazing, obviously present at the time of manufacture. I think this is a fairly uncommon bottle. At the time of original listing I saw no other Denby stoneware bottles for sale marked ... morewith the"T. Davids Co. stamp. S/H includes insurance. Doster-Northington Drug Company. Birmingham, Alabama gallon jug, stands 11" high, 7 1/4" in diameter. Doster-Northington Drug company had their lab in Birmingham, dating the jug to about 1913. Beautiful and rare. There is something inside the jug, probably the old cork, as the dust in one of the pictures suggest. Jug has 1/2" ding in front. Along the rim. There are two marks in the finish that look original to the making of the jug. The surface has a raised place front/bottom about 2" below logo that is also a probable manufacturing flaw. Otherwise, normal wear for 91-year-old pottery.

A couple of glaze skips. Crazing comensurate with age. One very small chip along the outside of the mouthpiece(see listing and photos please for greater detail) Script is clear and bright; shows almost no wear. 2 Glaze skips. Both about the size of the one pictured. Crazing is most notable on the bottom 1/3 of the jug as well as on the underside. One very small. Shallow chip along the outside rim of the mouthpiece(approx. 1/8" Any slight chips on the underside are under the glaze coat. 1/2" cut mark" under the glaze coat along the side brown area(see photo) I was able to find a"Charles& Co. An antique. Circa 1902- 1905, Lyons(NY) Co-Operative Pottery Co. The 5 gallon jug has a cobalt decoration whimsey, perhaps a cactus, or a fossil. The salt glaze surface has even color around. It measures 17" tall by 12" diameter. Excellent condition: clay without chips or cracks. The cobalt glaze has bubble burst over the beaded designs, and some on the number 5.

RECEIVED THIS INFORMATION FROM AN EXPERT ON CERAMIC AND STONEWARE. This indian jug measures 17 in. tall and 12 in. wide As promised. Here’s the information I discovered about your 5-gallon jug with the Indian head logo. It was made by the Louisville Pottery Company, the predecessor of Louisville Stoneware. A man by the name of S.O. Snyder bought an existing pottery works, the John Bauer Pottery Co. from Mr. Bauer in 1905 and renamed the company Louisville Pottery Company. Mr. Bauer had been making pickle crocks and butter churns since 1889 and the renamed company continued to produce these and additional utilitarian stoneware pieces as part of its Cherokee line of products whose logo was an Indian brave surrounded by a double blue circle with stars inside. So your jug may have been produced as early as 1905, making it a true antique. The ... moreCherokee line was produced until at least 1930, The Louisville Pottery Company was sold to John M. Marshall Pottery Co. 4 Gallon Butter Churn (Very Rare) Made in Late 1850-1890's
This Butter Churn was made in the late 1980's. The Rarity of the Churn is that it is 4 Gallon which is rare on its own but after contacting the Company. I was informed that the small defects on the paint and the bottom of the handle would have been thrown out upon inspection and they have no record of one in extenuate today. Passed down from family Member to another the history say it was used to make butter the 4th and 3rd Generation ago and has been stored and passed down since the late 1980's. Available for purchase. We have an old Antique Brown Glaze single handle jug. This is a one gallon jug. The jug is signed Macomb Pottery Co. Macomb. Ill. There is a chip in the bottom edge but it is not deep. The jug holds liquid with no leaks. There is no stopper but the previous owner improvised using an old corn cob. It actually fits snug. The jug measures 9" tall and 7-1/2" in diameter. There are some imperfections in the glaze and some wear to the handle. The Macomb Pottery Co. in Macomb, Illinois, was in business from 1894 to 1905. PA Pennsylvania 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug. Tobacco Spit Glaze 3 Gallon H.P.Co. Jug. Stands about 13.75 inches tall. Condition is fine, with two small 1/4 to 1/2 shallow chips in the bottom, top and handle are mint. As for the tobacco spit. Turkey splatter, whatever you want to call those marks: I'm no expert on these old jugs. And I can find no other example of this phenomenon on Hawthorn Pottery output. I bought this jug in a country auction in PA, so I have no provenance for it beyond that. A little suspicious, I took my knife to the edge of one of the splatters, and although hard, I can get the blade to shave the surface of the lump. What this means, I don't know. Are ... morethe tobacco spit globs real, or maybe just some add-ons? Seems like a lot of deceptive work for an item that is already collectible and didn't sell for all that much in the live auction. Perhaps these old salt-glaze lumps are softer compared to the thinner glazes on the rest of the jug? I'll leave that up to you as the buyer. I sell it today with no warranty as to the authenticity of the brown splatters.
