BEST QUALITY mid 1800s GERMAN 812 SILVER BASKET w/RED GLASS LINER Presented is ... morea fabulous German silver basket with cranberry glass liner. This piece dates to around the mid 1800s. The basket itself is done in beautiful spiral designs and flowers. With fine graining on the wires. The silver has a gold wash, which complements the red of the glass liner to lovely effect. This is a truly extraordinary wirework piece, absolutely the best quality work, as good as it gets. Both the glass liner and the silver basket are in great condition. The glass liner has a burst bubble in the making. As the photo points out, which is not a chip or flake of any sort. Other than this there are no issues with the liner whatsoever, no chips, no cracks, no breaks and no repairs. The silver basket is also in great condition, with no splits, no dents, no breaks, and no repairs. The glass liner fits the basket perfectly, and everything is certainly original. The basket has a maker's mark for Schott on one side of the base. As well as what is probably the city mark for Frankfurt, as Schott is a Frankfurt maker. The 13 is a loth mark, indicating 812 purity silver. The basket is about 4 3/4 inches tall at the side and measures about 9 by 7 inches. The total weight for the piece. Including the glass liner, is 1224 grams. The weight of the silver basket alone is 317.1 grams or 11.2 regular ounces. Good luck and bid with confidence. $19.99 Shipping Location: Pueblo, United States By far the oldest cuckoo clock i have ever had the pleasure of tinkering with. Clock was running when i found it. But strike was caught up due to the ... morefact original bellows where all dried out. Clock case is in sound condition, with a bit of scuffs on sides and back. Front of case could be oiled down to restore color if one wishes to do so. Mid frame carving was broken in a few places, and had previous repairs. I mearly glued the broken pieces, i did not putty or stain, i figured id leave that up to the new owner. Dial has small carved grape leaves on it, dont know vintage on numerals, but appears the hands are newer. Top crown had one break along edge, that was easily repaired. Wood plate clock movement is in solid shape, i only dropped a bit of oil in pivots. Had a plastic bird when i found clock, i had to put some originality back into the clock, so i replaced it with a nicely repainted flapping wing wood bird. Bird is probably off a gk or equivelent from the turn of the century. Clock bellows are trapizoid, one was different from the other, i figured replaced in the past. I made a few attempts at softening original skin on the bellows to no avail. I replaced tops with large rectangular ones. But i will ship old bellow tops with clock, if new owner wishes to recover. Clock pendulum has a small nick on side, and middle of wood stick was broken and repaired. Pendulum rod and leader are one piece, which makes it a bit trickey to set this clock up to run. Going into more detail on this, the original gong back actually anchors the movement in place. Being this said, this clock is by no means easy to set up. The pendulum leader must be strung and the movement centered, before the gong back is put in place. Two different size weights drive this clock, both are cast the same, so of the same age, i dont know if original to the clock. I use the larger weight for the time and the smaller weight for the strike. Larger cuckoo measures just over 15 inches tall, just under 12 inches wide, and 6.5 inches from wall to face of

L79 RARE ENGLISH MID 1800s YELLOW WARE FINELY ENAMELED, GLOSSED MATRON TOBY JUG
LOT# 79 Detailed Photos. Click to enlarge. Estate Road Show. Item Description. We are very proud to present this spectacular 1820s to 1840s original English yellow ware richly enameled and glazed rear handle matron with both hands in her pockets Toby jug. We have looked& looked. But cannot find an exact match after over 1,000 images studied! We do know that the facial characteristics and flat eccentric hand finished base, as well as the period Rockingham deep brown style glaze, all indicate the pre to early Victorian period. Another dating fact is that the early 1780s to ca. 1800 examples in Cream, Pearl& Prattware(William Pratt) plus pieces by such English giants as Ralph& Enoch Wood, Thomas Hollins, as well as the famed potters Astbury, and Wheildon, working primarily in Staffordshire& Leeds, virtually all produced Tobys ... morewith square or rectangular base plinths. Our Rare Toby is obviously a flush bottom, but definitely predates the English renaissance of precise enamel decoration, beginning in the late 1840s. Later producers of Tobys such as Davenport, and of course Doulton, showcase much finer painted definition and mold characteristics, traditionally found on 1870s + examples. We are very grateful to the American Toby Jug Museum, for its fine concise history below. Toby Jugs have been around since the early 18th century. The creator of the first Toby Jug is unknown, but most attribute it to either John Astbury or Thomas Wheildon. While the origin of its moniker is unclear, it is widely believed it was named after Toby Fillpot, an infamous sot in a song called â¿The Brown Jugâ¿ that was popular in England in the late 1700s and illustrated with a mezzotint of a fat toper with a jug in hand and the verse beneath. Whoever the creator, the Toby Jug caught the fancy of late 18th century England, with early jugs by such well known potters as Ralph Wood I and II, Enoch Wood, Thomas Hollins and William Pratt, as well as the aforementioned Astbury and Wheildon, working in Staffordshi

antique early to mid 1800s rockingham glazed jug
We are listing this antique early to mid 1800s Rockingham glazed jug which has a serpent's spout and oriental figures on the sides. It is about 6.5 inches tall and 6 inches at its widest point. We are listing this rare classically sprigged pitcher by the little known G. F. Booth& Co. of Hanley. England. It has a maker's sprig down near the bottom below the handle, which says Published by G. F. Booth& Co. Hanley, Staffordshire, May 23, 1839(some of the mark is difficult to read, but see the following information) On page 100 of the book An Illustrated Guide to British Jugs, there is a picture and description of a white version of this jug pattern(with different sprigs) which has the same maker's mark for this very unconventional jug, and a mention of another similar jug which also has the same maker's mark. The pitcher is 8.5 inches tall and 6.5 inches at its widest point. It has a very flat finish to the glaze and relatively weak sprigging, and the handle is has been off and is glued back on. Unusual early to mid 1800s brightly glazed/enameled moulded ceramic pitcher
We are listing this very unusual ceramic pitcher from the early to mid 1800s. It is relief molded(somewhat naively) with scenes of cattle tending. Trees, and decorative leaf and acorn bands, and it is highly glazed or enameled in a shocking pink color with blue trim on the rim and base. It is 5.5 inches tall, 6.5 inches at its widest point, and in very good condition. There is some slight roughness/flaking on the rim paint, and a very short hairline inside the rim by the handle(see the close up pictures) It is probably from a Staffordshire pottery, but it is unmarked. Large mid 1800s copper luster jug with brightly colored classical figures
We are listing this large mid 1800s copper luster pitcher which is decorated with three brightly colored classical figures(very naively formed- similar to Pratt ware figures) applied on a blue band. The jug is almost 7 inches tall. 8 inches at its widest point, and in very good condition(there is one small chip on the base rim and a very small flake on the side of the spout, both of which can only be seen close up due to the underlying pottery being almost the same color as the glaze) We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. Striking bright blue glazed mid 1800s Arabian Nights relief molded jug (Alcock?)
We are listing this very interesting mid 1800s bright blue glazed relief molded jug in the Arabian Nights pattern created by Samuel Alcock circa 1845. I am only familiar with lavender and white Alcock versions and the mark on the bottom of the jug is not one I am familiar with- a cartouche with the impressed name STONE over No 2. But the jug appears to exactly match Alcock's jug in design. The jug is almost 7 inches tall, over 5 inches at its widest point, and in very good condition(there is one small flake on the base rim- see the close up picture) A very striking jug. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Shipping to the United Kingdom and Canada will be charged at cost. Very striking mid 1800s marked Copeland relief molded jug with unique handle
We are listing this very unusual mid 1800s Copeland relief molded jug. The designs on the elegantly shaped jug are very stylized flowers and it has a nicely braided handle and base. What makes it unusual is that the braided areas are brightly colored in alternating glaze colors of orange and blue on the base and orange and green on the handle(with gilding around the separate braids and along the top rim) It is marked on the bottom with a raised(fake) registration diamond over an impressed COPELAND mark. And an impressed letter T, an impressed number 18, and a hand painted number 9160. The jug is almost 10 inches tall, 5.5 inches at its widest point, and in good condition. There is some gilding and glaze loss, a thin hairline toward the bottom on one side, and a couple of surface rubs toward the top- but the jug displays very well. Nice mid to late 1800s European glazed and classically sprigged stoneware vase
We are listing this nice glazed and classically sprigged vase. Which is in the English Georgian style of the early 1800s, but I suspect was made later in the 1800s in either France or Germany(it is unmarked) It has two nicely done classical mythology sprigs, as well as other bands of decorative sprigging. It also has two lion's head fake ring handles(which, to put it bluntly, are rather unusual looking) The vase is 6 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide, and in very good condition(a little rubbing on the lion handles) Please view the close up pictures and judge for yourself. Very unique mid 1800s Bennington North Wind / Father Time spouted stoneware jug
NOTE: THIS IS A UNIQUE ITEM- IT WILL NOT BE RELISTED.We are listing this fantastic mid to late 1800s Bennington glazed face jug with a mesmerizing spout of either the North Wind figure or Father Time(judging by the blown back hair. I would say North Wind is the most likely) This is an incredible piece- well potted and nicely glazed. It is 8 inches tall, 7.5 inches at its widest point, and visually stunning. The only flaws are hairlines on the base which extend up the sides(but can only be seen up close) and some separation lines around the handle joins. These in no way detract from this very striking old jug- please view the close up pictures and judge this rare and decorative piece for yourself. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Shipping to the United Kingdom and Canada will ... morebe charged at cost. Very pretty mid to late 1800s relief molded white stoneware jug
We are listing this very pretty relief molded stoneware jug. Made in the mid to late 1800s(probably in England) The piece is unmarked, and I have not been able to identify the pattern, so I do not know the maker. It looks similar to jugs that Dudson and other English potters were making in the 1850s to 1870s. The jug is a little over 6 inches tall, 4.5 inches at its widest point, and very elegant looking with vertical designs overlying a stippled background. The piece is in excellent condition, with only a tiny separation line at the top join of the handle. This is a beautiful little jug- please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. RARE mid-1800s Beaver PA USA Hand-Drawn COBALT ART STONEWARE Jug w/Possum Tracks
Beautiful mid 1800's Beaver PA Cobalt Stoneware Jug with Hand Drawn Vine Art Decor& Possum Tracks- Our'stoneware contacts' attribute this Jug to Russell or Hamilton. But item is sold As Pictured. No guarantees. Jug is 12" x 8" 1 Gallon approx. and weighs 7-8 pounds. Study pictures to view condition. Slight imperfections& wear associated with age, and possum tracks. Item will be properly packaged and insured for full purchase value. The first stoneware pottery manufacturing to take place in Beaver County was probably that produced by James and William Hamilton. Sons of a Moon Township(now Center Township) farmer, in the town of Bridgewater. The exact location of their operation is not known at the present time, but we do know that they obtained their clay from a hillside near the confluence of Brady's Run ... moreand the Beaver River, around 1840. This date can be confirmed by a listing in the 1841 Bridgewater Business directory showing James and William L. Hamilton as potters. The Hamiltons produced utilitarian salt glazed stoneware in the form of jars, crocks, and jugs decorated with cobalt blue flowers, vines and lined embellishments in the typical German or tutonic tradition. in 1847. Russell purchased property in Boro Township. It was probably at this time that he began to produce stoneware marked, R.W. Russell(with and without"Beaver Pa. as his trademark. Many of the pieces produced by the Russell pottery were decorated with unusual leaf and flower designs sometimes coming from both sides of the piece and meeting in the center. The Russell pottery is shown on the map of Boro Township in the Caldwells Centennial Atlas of 1876. It was located near the confluence of Mudlick Creek and Two Mile Run. The R.W. Russell pottery continued operation until approximately 1869. When the elder Russell passed away and the operation was taken over by his son Albert. Albert Russell, who had started working at the pottery as a young boy, continued the operations as his father had taught him and w

Very pretty mid 1800s outline printed & brightly painted earthenware jug
We are listing this very pretty mid 1800s octagonal earthenware jug which has outline printed designs which have been painted with bright flowers. And then further accented with luster trim lines. In the 1840s the Staffordshire potteries, as well as some of the other provincial potteries, began using this method. I believe this jug may have been made in Yorkshire(although it is unmarked) see page 176 of An Illustrated Guide to British Jugs for an 1840s octagonal jug from the Twiggs Pottery in Yorkshire which has some similarities to this jug. The jug is almost 7.5 inches tall, 6.5 inches at its widest point, and in good condition- it displays very well. There is a lot of crackling in the glaze, some losses to the luster trim, and a couple of tiny short hairlines on the back of the jug(near the base, and on the bottom of the handle) but they ... moredo not detract from this pretty piece. Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. We are listing this striking and colorful mid 1800s Copeland Late Spode pottery water carafe with very intense floral prints on the sides. Neck, and stopper. It is marked on the bottom with a very old printed mark of Copeland over Late Spode. This is a good sized jug- including the stopper, it is 11.5 inches tall, 6.25 inches wide, displays well, and is in good condition. There is a small chip out of the top edge of the stopper, and some discoloration on the neck, the bottom edge of the stopper, and to a lesser extent, near the base(I do not know if the discoloration can be removed or not) Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself- the large floral prints are particularly impressive. Unusually decorated mid 1800s Rockingham glazed stoneware jug (American?)
We are listing this unusually decorated mid 1800s Rockingham glazed stoneware jug. Which is unmarked and could be from either an English or an American pottery of the period. It has a most unusual reclining man figure for a handle, and among the decorations around the body of the jug are four faces of mythological man/creatures with pointed ears. There are other stylistic design features around the lower portion of the jug, and grapevines around the top portion. The brown glazing is excellent, including on the inside of the jug. The piece is 7.5 inches tall, over 6.25 inches at its widest point, and in very good condition. There is some roughness around the rim with one small area of glaze loss, small areas of glaze loss on both sides of the handle, and a tiny bit of glaze loss on one of the faces. Please view the closeup pictures and judge ... morefor yourself- this jug displays very well. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Large early to mid 1800s glazed and gilded relief molded ceramic jug
We are listing this large early to mid 1800s shiny white glazed and gilded relief molded ceramic jug. On one side of the jug is a man wearing a country-type hat(this exact same figure was noted on two late 1700s Pratt-type jugs- see page 23 of A Collector's Guide to Nineteenth Century Jugs and page 1 of A Collector's Guide to Nineteenth Century Jugs Volume II) On the other side of the jug is a drinking scene with a woman and a man(who wears a Robin Hood-type hat) The balance of the jug is decorated with trees and leafy branches. Heavy gilding covers the rim and a trim band circling the jug above the figures. And there are additional gilded spots on the handle. The glaze and gilding features look just like a Jacob Petit piece I had, but there is no maker's mark on this one, so I still think it is an English jug. It is a large jug- ... morealmost 7.75 inches tall and 8.5 inches at its widest point- and it displays well. However, there is a crack across the base(repaired with staples in the style of that period) which runs up one side a couple of inches, and there is another crack by the handle which runs from the rim to down below the gilded trim band. Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. This is a very nice looking jug. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Very nice mid 1800s Harding sprigged and engine turned glazed stoneware jug
We are listing this very nice mid 1800s engine turned and highly glazed brown stoneware jug with a band of blue floral sprigging around the body. It is marked on the bottom with the impressed marks HARDING and the number 30. I have seen several similar marked Harding pieces over the years. But I have never found a record of a pottery with that mark(although several Hardings were prominent in English potteries during the 1850s) The piece is over 4.5 inches tall, 5.25 inches at its widest point, and in excellent condition. Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada.
