Mid 19th Century Dudson Pewter lidded Jasper Ware glazed Jug that features Three Muses in relief. The Pewter lid has a finial with a feather design at its base that curls up to the top. The lid is heart shaped. Whose edges are gently sloped into the center. This creates a raised heart shaped center area that has a raised ridge that continues to the lip edge. The upper most edge of the jug is trimmed with pewter, which guaranteed that it would not get chipped. The base of of the pale blue glazed jug has an acorn and oak leaf design that encircles the upper part of the jug. Elaborate columns separate the three muses. The handle has a rope design. The pitcher slightly tapers from the top to bottom. This was probably used as a milk pitcher. Measuring approximately 6 1/2" to the top of the finial and 5 1/2" spout to end of the handle. ... moreThe piece is in excellent condition with no cracks. Chips or crazing. The bottom carries an impressed marking of"DUDSON ENGLAND and a B U C" I believe that the initials are those of the potter and decorator. The impressed mark was used 1838-1888. Dudson was located on Hope and Hanover Streets in Hanley. Stafforshire. Dudson made Jasper Ware in the Wedgwood style. Dudson Jasper Ware is glazed and does not have a matte finish, which, I have found to be very attractive. If you love antique English pottery. This is a wonderful piece from the Victorian period. ANTIQUE LARGE CHINESE OR JAPANESE JUG WITH SPOUT AND FLAT HANDLE With apologies for not knowing much about this pottery jug. The auction features a large Chinese or Japanese pottery jug with a short spout and four small loops through which I imagine twine or other materials would be looped to use as a carrying handle. This jug has a flat lid that is indented in the center and has a calligraphy character printed on top(pictured) The jug is 9-1/2" tall and about 8-1/2" in diameter at the center. It is primitively decorated on bluish white glazed ground with simple cobalt blue designs. This piece is quite old and does have some condition issues. I assume it was in household use, not just intended for display, and the use has caused a hairline crack to the lid(pictured) and a chip to the underside of the spout(pictured) along with a ... morediscolored area that appears to be a crack, though it also seems to be discolored under the glaze. An excellent small brown jug for men's toiletries from the 1940's and 50's. This one was used for men's cologne and still smells nice when opened. It has a cork inside with a wood lid. the size is 5" x 21/2" I do not know the company that make this. What a great piece of stoneware pottery for a collection or a nice addition for your primitive décor.

antique vtg19th century English covered jug/pewter lid,pitcher brown/redware
OK. We don't see pieces as lovely as this one every day. This jug probably would have been for milk on the table, a very pleasingly shaped brown jug with greeny turquoise delicate painting on a cream band. The jug is embellished with gold dots, raised like Japanese moriage. I used to see jugs of this size and purpose in England and on the Continent when I was shopping there in the 80s. It was also clear why there would have been a lid on any milk jug. Lacking screening. Flies would be a huge fact of life, necessitating a cover, not one with an opening in the front, but one that would be hinged in some way and close completely. This one is somewhat unusual. Rather than the hinge that we might think of as perhaps the only option, this jug has a tiny hole on each side, a hole that would have been made in the raw pitcher prior to firing. ... moreThe lid is a separate piece with a soldered on bit at right and left, forming the pivots. I have seen so many jugs with the lids broken off and therefore irreplaceable. This clever thing has the simple hole on one side of the jug and a tiny groove on the other side, down which the soldered on bit can just slide down to rest in the other hole. You can lift it off for washing and then slip it right back in place. There is a bit of roughness on the handle, but otherwise- perfection. I ship by FedEx and the post office. 9" English Flow Blue Polychrome Pitcher/Jug with a Pewter Lid - Oriental Design
A really nice 9" tall flow blue and polychrome lidded jug or pitcher with oriental designs. It is only marked on the base with an impressed"D" and a number"3008" in gold paint. The pewter lid is attached to the jug by two pins and a frame that is crimped over the top. The underside of the lid is quite a bit brighter than the top. The condition is excellent with no chips or cracks and only very minor wear to the design. The gold decoration is even in nice condition. Up for sale is this beautiful Wedgwood Syrup Jug/ Pitcher with Pewter? Silver Plated fancy lid. It is approx 7" 3 7/8" across the base(not counting the handle) and 4 1/2" at it's widest(with the handle) In very good condition with no noticeable chips or cracks. There is the of crack in the white part of the applied white parts(mostly along the top) I never even noticed that until I examined it with a magnifying glass. Light scratches to the lid. Not sure what the lid is made of- usually they are pewter but this might be silver plated. There are some hallmarks stamped on the inside. The one to the right looks like an oil lamp(with a shade) within a shield/ crest. Ther are 3 marks to the left- the first is only about 1/4 visible- no idea what it is. The second kind of looks like" within pointy top block and the third ... moreone is an"S" within an oval. The lid has a raised shell like shape and a milk glass? button attached to the thumb tab lifter. That makes it a little nicer than any other one I have had in the past. RARE Antique Doulton Slaters Brocade Type Floral Jug/Pitcher w/Metal Lid! WOW!
This auction is for an absolutely fabulous antique Doulton Slaters tall flagon/pitcher/jug with the original metal cover. The stoneware at the top has a multi-shade green glaze as does the handle. The bottom portion looks almost like a brocade material with raised aqua and white flowers and gilt raised designs. This is a rare item and is in great vintage condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs that we can see anywhere. The colors are vibrant. The first photo is a little washed out from the flash of the camera, but photos two and three give a true color representation. There are a couple of minor flakes to the underside that are extremely minimal, and I am just mentioning for accuracy. This flagon is 9" in height and about 4 1/2" in diameter. Large 16" Antique Salt Glaze Stoneware Cobalt Pitcher Jug Or Stein Pewter Lid
Offered for your consideration today is this large Antique 16" stoneware salt glaze pitcher with the original pewter lid. It is in excellent condition. No cracks chips or repairs. Very nice raised cobalt decoration. Marked on the bottom number 564. In pictures 9 and 10 you can see a hairline in the pewter. I do not know what this is as it does not go through. Measures 16" tall and is 8" wide from the handle. There is no reserve.

Approximate size is 5-7/8" tall, base diameter is 4-3/4" top is 4" diameter(outside measurement) Jug has crazing, one round imperfection on side, imperfection at bottom, spider-web crack on inside(does not go through) all of this is pictured. Look it over, condition consistant with age& probably usage! This weighs almost 2 lb before any packaging. I thought these were used for cream& to hang in the well, don't know that for sure! Very Rare JT Morton Merchant 19th Century London Antique Jug Complete With Lid
Up for bid is an incredibly rare JT Morton 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug Complete with Original Lid. Likely dates to the 1870's-1880's. I can only find a couple examples of this piece all with astronomical prices. Piece is stamped on the front: J.T. Morton Provision Merchant 107. 108& 109 Leadenhall St. London"2" Reg March 1849 Powell Bristol Two Gallon Jug measures 14" Tall and is 9" in diameter at the base. The lid is 4" in diameter. Crock is in very good condition with only a small chip on the lid and a few microscopic hairline cracks none of which appear to go through the jug. I recently acquired a large collection of some beautiful antique crocks and jugs which I will be listing in the coming weeks. Check out my! Please see pictures for details and condition. Vintage whimsical musical little brown jug with a friar head stopper that plays"How Dry I Am" There is a repaired cracked area near bottom of jug as seen in the pictures. Small chip to the Friar's nose and collar which can be touched up if desired. Wind-up music box with lever. Top of stopper in the area of the Friar's cap shows signs of handling which can be seen in some of the pictures. Measures approximately 8 3/4" high. Unmarked. This piece is solid and heavy. A hand painted blue and white Worcester cream jug with sparrow beak spout dating from circa 1770. It has the original lid with flower finial which is usually missing on most examples. Condition is excellent with only minute chipping to the pedals of the flower finial. Only noticeable upon the closest inspection. Marked as shown with the early Worcester dark blue crescent. Height approx. 5 5/8" to top of finial.
