This one is dark brown on the bottom, most are brown on top. I found this in a old house we were cleaning out. My German Grandma's Antique Sauerkraut Pickling Crock White Hall Stoneware w/lid
This was my german grandma's sauerkraut making crock. My brother later used it to make pickles. Mom said that when she was a little girl. Grandma would bury this in the backyard to ferment the kraut. And mom said she would sneak out and eat some directly from the crock in the ground. Others have identified this crock as probably a White Hall Stoneware Pickle Crock made by WHSP&S Co. Of White Hall Illinois from 1900-1940. Grandma repurposed the crock for making her Sauerkraut. One of the lugs that held the original handle is broken. So the crock is now held in a net of copper wire. It is soldered in some spots. The lid probably came from something else. The crock measures 14-1/4" tall by 12 maximum width. The blue decorative stoneware lid fits perfectly and measures 9-1/4" in maximum diameter. Overall the crock is in good ... morecondition. There is the one broken lug. VINTAGE LARGE BLUE CROWN 8 GALLON CERAMIC STONEWARE PICKLING CROCK Crock measures approx. 16" H x 13.5" in diameter and has a blue crown stamped on the front with an 8(USA) No lid. Minimal cosmetic wear. Overall in fantastic shape with no cracks or breakage. This crock was well cared for as you can see from the pictures. The inside shines beautifully. I took a close-up picture of the pin pricks in the glazing. This is the spot that has the most of them but they are all over the crock and probably a standard thing with crocks this old but I wanted to point it out so there were no surprises. There is one chip on this crock and it is located at the bottom back and doesn't detour from the beauty of the crock. The crock is large and weighs a lot. Mid 1800's Large Number 10 Brown Salt Glazed Pickling Crock
This wonderful old crock/churn belonged to my father and he got it somewhere in Ohio on his travels. I am not quite sure it was made in Ohio but it looks like the very old and great pottery that was produced in Ohio in the mid 1800's which is the age that I think it is. I think it was a pickling crock and not a churn because there is not a lip around the top to hold the top of the churn. The crock is 19 1/2" tall and the opening is 12 1/2" in diameter. The crock is stamped with the number 10. As you can see in the pictures the crock is in outstanding condition and is not cracked. It has a nip out of one of the handles as you can see in the picture. This is a hand thrown crock and I think it is called a brown slip glaze. I would love to have some feedback from the experts on this item since I do not know a lot about the really ... moreold good stoneware. Amazing Antique Pickling Stoneware Crock
Prepare to pickle everything in sight! This huge pickling crock measures 12 inches in diameter. 13.5 from the floor to the outside rim of the lid and it weighs 28.2 pounds. On each side of the crock there are ceramic handles for lifting. The number 5 is stamped on the side in blue. The lid is outlined in a darker brown and has a 6 etched on the topside. Antique Salt Glaze Stoneware Crock/Pickling Jar Gorgeous Red Green Flower Design
I am listing one of my favorite collectibles for auction. This has been passed down and around as long as I can remember. absolutely gorgeous. I will do my best to tell you about it. The first few photos are the actual color. the last ones are with flash and it looks off white. it is tan with a green ring around top and bottom. also on lid. The sides and inside are glazed not the bottom. It measures 9 1/4" tall to top of crock by 9 3/4" round. From checking others this size they list 2 gallon. I have never put liquid in it. The deep red flowers have strong color and are in excellent condition. see the leaf and how the green bleeds into the background. I do not see any maker marks. Note: the entire crock has crazing. there are a few chips inside the ring of the lid and also on the handle. I have tried to show all of this to you in ... morethe photos. I only have a 10 pound scale. the crock weighs 9.2.3 and the lid 1.11.4. so just about 11 pounds before packing. I guess you could use this as a cookie jar. myself. I just had it for display. Plenty of staining as shown in photos, two chips on the base not wider than a nickel, another tiny chip about 1 or 2 cm& a small crack next to that. Nothing big enough to compromise it's integrity, still very solid. Big, beautiful piece of antique advertising, in great shape for probably having been a functional piece for someone for a LOOONG time! Beautiful antique stoneware lid with a large number eight deeply incised into the top. Weight prior to packaging is a hair over 8 Lbs. Shipping options are(Expedited) USPS Priority and(Economy) Parcel Select. MEASURES approximately 14-3/4 inches outer diameter. Has a 12-1/4 inches diameter ring that fits into crock. CONDITION: Used. Very clean and very well made. Not out of round or warped! No cracks, hairlines, scrapes, gouges, repairs or touch ups. Some surface scratches but very light. Top of lid is chip free but has the often found normal tiny glaze pops. Bottom edge of rim has two thin 1/4" long chips where my finger is pointing.
