Sankaat is pleased to present for your consideration this 6.7 inch tall polychrome faience Pilgrim flask! This small bottle shaped flask has two handles which would have originally had a small rope or string tied to them. Allowing this flask to be worn around the neck. This Flask is in excellent condition for its age and use. With some wear to the glaze(and some removed overpainting to the glaze wear to the reverse) there are a few small chips on the rim of the spout. This is a a scarce 17th century GR jug. These are a bit hard to find and very collectable. This one was dug missing parts of the body etc. It measures about 6" tall. A good seal on the front. Prices way below what an unrestored one would be and a good filler for a collection.

EARLY ANTIQUE CIRCA 17TH/18TH CENTURY SALT GLAZED STONEWARE ONE-HANDLED JUG
This early antique salt-glazed stoneware one-handled jug is circa 17th/18th century. Salt glaze pottery is stoneware with a glaze of glossy. Translucent, and slightly orange-peel texture, which was formed by throwing common salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of the firing process. This primitive jug has a beautiful early pear-shaped form. And a nice mottled natural/yellowish color. The jug measures ~8 3/8" tall x 2" diameter at the base. Considering its age. The jug is in good condition overall. There are a couple of small chips at the neck, and a hairline crack, but no major repairs or restoration that I can see. The blemish in the front of the jug was possibly formed during the firing process, from maybe touching another jug. The form. Color, and surface are great. This jug shows good honest wear from years ... moreof use, and has nice character. Thanks for looking, and any shipping cost overcharge will be promptly refunded.

A 17th. century “Westerwald” salt glazed stoneware wine jug around 1680/1690
From a Dutch stoneware collection I’m offering a German beer jug. The jug was made in Westerwald in Germany at the end of the 17 th. century. The jug is decorated with leaves in manganese in a decorated grey square against a cobalt blue background. The condition of the jug is almost perfect. There are two very small hairlines in the handle and there is a crack in the foot(see pictures) furthermore there are no chips or restorations. I think the jug had a pewter lid in the past, because you can see a discoloration on the handle(see pictures) the height is approx. 8” 20.5 cm) Provenance: this Westerwald jug was excavated in the city of Amsterdam in the eighties on the Prinsengracht(one of the famous canals of Amsterdam) and has been in a private collection until recent.
