VINTAGE ENGLISH STERLING CHANGE PURSE I have come up with yet another delightful Collectible Surprise for you to get excited about and to bid on. This one comes from LONDON. ENGLAND. My wife and I were visiting dear friends in London. And my wife was having a ball in the the antique shops which were everywhere. We were in the Burlington Arcade which is an enclosed upscale shopping area in the fashionable PARK LANE west end of London on Piccadilly across from Mortnum& Mason and not far from Harrods in Knightsbridge. In a delightful small silver shop my wife foung this magnificent STERLING SILVER OVAL SHAPE VERY PLAIN UNDECORATED LADIES CHANGE PURSE WITH THE ORIGINAL STERLING CHAIN AND THE ORIGINAL BROWN LEATHER SECTIONAL INTERIOR. She could not pass it by and just had to have it for her collection. This specialty antique jewelry shop had ... morea broad and varied collection of fine gold and sterling silver snuff boxes and vinaigrettes and place settings. Among all the clutter my wife found this charming silver small size vintage coin purse. It has now been in our collection for more than 40 years and my wife has actually used it on social functions where it always gathered great attention and admiration. The outer oval case measures approx 4" in length and is approx 2.25" wide. It is about 1" thick. It weighs 66.8 grams. The chain is short and approx 4" long to the round loop finger hold. It is fully lined with a brown Kid Glove Leather interior. In divided sections, and shows only very careful wear with no breaks of tears or repairs. I believe it is original to this change purse. The exterior of this sterling silver box shows light polishing to the outside and has been carefully handled over the many years as there are no dents or scratches to the surface. The piano style hinge is approx 2.5" long, is firm and the box closes easily and completely with the 2 twist snap closures. There are hall marks on both sections of this coin purse. The donkey's body is rounded, while the man's is flat and I love the way the burro's head and ears are disproportionately big. The mule is being led by a silver wire that is twisted and tied around him like a rope. The brooch is quite detailed, down to the wrinkles in the man's baggy clothes. It is given a finished look, almost like a painting, by a frame with incised lines and dots. And of course, whatever it is worn on will become part of the background. Charming Vintage Sterling Silver Irish Wildflower Pendant from Ireland
This listing is for one vintage sterling silver Irish wildflower pendant. The tiny purple flowers are real. Are from Ireland, have been pressed, and are encased in resin. All of the metalwork is sterling silver. The clasp is stamped.925 and the back is stamped Ireland with the Irish hallmark beneath. The piece is in truly excellent condition, it looks like it has been safely stored in a jewelry box. The resin is in amazing shape, the back has a slight texture to it with light polish marks. No damage. The resin has aged a bit around the outer oval, turning a bit darker than the rest of the piece(still see through) which just adds to the charm. This is a GORGEOUS antique George III style solid sterling silver basket. With an oval boat styled body. The basket features bright cut beautifully engraved work, and a hinged swing handle, and stands upon an oval centre portion. The basket is hallmarked on the underside of the rim with a JB inside a rectangle. A lion, leopard’s head, an F inside a shield like shape, and the silhouette of the side of a person’s face. A short version of the hallmarks are located on the swings of the handles as well. The top of the handle has an arm with the hand clenching(what looks like) an upside down horseshoe. This was bought in an antique store in England over 20 years ago. It is in great condition. With minor scratches due to occasional use. The cushion portion forms the lid to an interior compartment. Where you can store sewing components, buttons, etc. The sides of the silver portion are beautifully hand chased with scrolled leaf designs. The pincushion is in great overall condition. The fabric is a little worn. But it could be re-upholstered easily enough. The silver has no splits, no dents, no breaks, and no repairs.
