Very Nice Vintage/ Antique Stone or Slate Ethiopian Coptic Icon For your consideration is an Ethiopian Coptic Christian Icon made of what I believe is slate due to the weight. It is very nicely carved and features two opening doors. One on each side, that when opened reveal four saints. I am unsure of the age of the piece, but the original owner bought it in Egypt in the 1970's from an antique dealer. The piece is very traditionally done, so it could be quite old. It measures 4.5 x 2.75 inches when closed and each panel is 2.25 x 2.5 inches. If you have any questions or need more pictures just ask. Offering an old Ethiopian Coptic icon fresh from a Carmel estate. The former owner was diplomat and lived in Ethiopia in the 1970's. This icon depicts angels over a coffin. Measures approx. 7 1/4 by 9 1/4 inches. Painted gouache on vellum and simply framed on plyboard with a plexiglass cover. Condition is excellent. I did take one painting apart and the plexiglass could use a cleaning and would need to be dried before attaching back in place.
