T his rack of hooks measures just uder 21" The plate is 2" wide and the fanned part top& bottom is 4" wide. Purchased from an architectural salvage many years ago, these were taken from a barn demolition in Jamesville, New York the name of which I cannot recall, but these were being used in a horse stable. Excellent condition. One hook was re-welded the evidence visible on the back, and the seller back then painted the piece black. Just a really beautiful piece for your period interior. I am very pleased to bring you a great pair of heavy cast iron bridal tack hooks that came right from a barn that was built in the late 1800's here in Western Pa. These hooks were specifically designed for tack and heavy tack at that as the bottom hook was molded with a curved wide part as you can put on your bridals. Harnesses and there is a rounded ball in front so it would not get caught and be easy for the on and off. These maesure 8" high in the back with a tri hole configuration and the top hook is 13" long and the bottom is 8 1/2" long with the cast being a wide 1 1/2" I am sorry.looking on here and seeing all these coat hooks is fine but this one is designed for heavy duty use. Each cast iron piece weighs just about 2 1/2 lbs. There are no manufacturer’s marks or dates on either bracket. They are in“as found” condition with some faint remnants of old black paint. There are no cracks. Brakes, chips or repairs in the cast iron. These brackets would look absolutely fantastic with a thick glass shelf suspended between them and would also work with lengths of vintage glass rods at different ... moreintervals. Besides reusing these salvaged pieces for decorative purposes. They could also be used for hanging lengths of looped rope, leather, or even hanging buckets and baskets. There is a very shallow crease or line on one long arm of a bracket– a minor flaw which occurred during the manufacturing process. With the bracket mounted on the wall and the row of cutouts on top. The crease mark is just after the second bump from the end and on the bottom piece of iron. The picture that shows this has the bracket with the mounting plate flat on the table and the row of cutouts on the right going straight up and down. The flaw is near the top. I am listing more of my 92 year old Mother's Antiques and Collectables she has acquired over the last 90 years which have to go now she has sold her house and come to live with us in a recently completed Granny Flat. This is a GREAT LOT OF 3 x ANTIQUE- PROBABLY VICTORIAN OR EDWARDIAN- EQUESTRIAN RELATED HORSES HEAD HEAVY BRASS COAT/ CUPBOARD/ TACK HOOKS RECLAIMED FROM FARMHOUSE BARN OR STABLE. These were used in the barn or stable of my Mother's family farmhouse- she remembers them from an early age so is guessing they are probably from the Victorian or Edwardian era. They were used for holding the farm horses tack. Etc, at the time- the farm used horses and did not use tractors. They were removed in 1952 when the farmhouse was sold and put in a box in the loft of the new home. They are all still in very good undamaged condition- ... moreperhaps just requiring a good polish although most will probably leave them as is with the lovely age patina.
