Print was published in Germany in Meyer's Universum by Bibliographic Institute Hildburghausen. Glaspalast(Munich) The Glaspalast(Glass Palace) was a glass and iron exhibition building in Munich modeled after The Crystal Palace in London. The Glaspalast opened for the Erste Allgemeine Deutsche Industrieausstellung(First General German Industrial Exhibition) on July 15. 1854. Construction The Glaspalast was ordered by Maximilian II. King of Bavaria, built by MAN AG and designed by August von Voit, and hosted many large art exhibitions and international trade fairs. The two-storied building was 234 meters(768 ... moreft) long and 67 meters(220 ft) wide. The building's height measured 25 meters(82 ft) Construction was a mere six months. I believe this to be a 1920s or 30s calendar print. It measures. Including its gilt edge overall approx 15" x 20" The print itself excluding the gilt border is approx 13 1/2" x 18 1/2" Gilt edge is very fragile and has broken away in spots up to the border of the print and no further, possibly the gold color was more acidic and accelerated paper decomposition. The surface of the print is glossy and has a swirled effect throughout. I have attempted to photograph this for your examination. Back is printed"Made in Germany" with a stock number(see photos) I believe this to be a rarer 80 or 90 year old print as I have done a bit of research in this regard and I have found nothing quite like it anywhere. It remains both the largest series of armored clashes, including the Battle of Prokhorovka, and the costliest single day of aerial warfare. It was the final strategic offensive the Germans were able to mount in the east. The resulting decisive Soviet victory gave the Red Army the strategic initiative for the rest of the war. The Germans hoped to shorten their lines by eliminating the Kursk salient(also known as the Kursk bulge) created in the aftermath of their ... moredefeat at the Battle of Stalingrad.
