My original intention was to use this piece in the kitchen over the stove however plans changed and I will not be able to go forward with the project This is NOT a reproduction. this is the REAL thing! Its Victorian era, 1840-1870 French marble.Designed in the style of Louis XV centered with a Scalloped Shell motif Channeled Fields and Scrolling Corbels, Acanthus leaves and a undertone Floral/Leaf.There is a chip on one of the legs(see pic.11) otherwise looks great for its age.Measures:Mantel 67.5" x 12" Legs 30' H x 12" w.Does NOT have the top and I'm not sure if there was any additional pieces that I do not have.Buyer must pickup from Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334, its quite heavy. This is a solid Black Cherry mantel. It also makes a really nice display shelf. It has an oil finish topped with a light coat of polyurethane that really makes the grain and color variations come alive. The color is all natural and no stain has been applied. Some of the original saw marks remain. This is a hand crafted piece finished with hand scraping and shaving. Overall width is 62" and it is 14" high including the lower brackets.The shelf is 6" deep. The thickness of the material varies from 2 to 2.5 inches. Ships only to lower 48 states.

We try to leave as much original as we can while keeping it's integrity sound. Each piece is cleaned. Sanded, and kiln dried(if req'd) to 160 °-170º at the core temperture for 12 hours. We finish with three coats of sprayed commercial grade flat finish polyurethane. An antique salvaged piano was the source for this great mantel shelf. Beautiful half-round columns on either side. The finish is a rich mahogany. Excellent condition. Sturdy and straight. This shelf will stand on its own. But hangers could easily be attached to the back for security. Perfect to place on an existing mantel or it could serve as a mantel itself if placed over a fireplace. This is the piece taken from around the front board of piano. It has been thoroughly cleaned. I have not put any wood treatment on it. Their are several ways in which to mount this on the wall: anchored from behind(where you see only the mantle) or"brackets" of wood or metal. triangular or straight etc. These rectangular hand chiseled holes and were for other notched beams that inserted and locked in place. You are seeing what I think are the best sides to be used as top and front. And you will see this left ... moreend is notched and the right end is flat. The photo above shows the wood wet. Of course the photo props. The bottles etc, do not come with the auction. There are also several drilled holes that I am sure were made with a hand auger. You can add some more if you like. and sometimes wooden pegs and/or metal hooks are great for looks. And to hang x-mas stockings, candle pine. or what have you. The picture below shows the bottom side of the mantle. Which exhibits more worm holes but is quite hard and sound. You may like the look of the ends. But upon request, I can cut a few inches off of each to make them more uniform. I can give it an antiqued worn look and effect, which I am experienced with. The photo above and two below shows the piece slightly wet. Which is to show what it may look like when the buyer treats it with linseed oil, tung oil, or even a clear polyurethane hard-shell coat. Up for bid is a long oak beam just taken out of a barn built in the 1800's according to farmer. It measures aprox 19 feet long x 5 1/2" x 3 3/4" Old beams like this are not square so different areas will have different measurements. It has a curve aprox. 3 feet long then straight area after that on one end as pictured so I am only charging for 13 feet of it. These long beams are great for ceilings in living rooms. Fireplace mantels, garden walkways etc. it would make a few mantels which would be nice if you have more than one fireplace so they would match& be from the same tree.
