Remarkable Antique Queen Anne Carved Pine Mantel with Mirror, c. 1890’s NFPM6
This is a fabulous antique Queen Anne style pine mantel. Dating from the 1890’s. It is crowned with an arched top, which is carved with a stylized foliate motif, and has a small shelf just below the arch, surrounded by a stick-and-ball railing. The shelf is followed by a scalloped border, which extends to a gracefully curved bracket on either side. Outside each bracket is a piece carved with a fan-shaped, fern-like design, curving down to the second shelf. The second shelf has a lovely beveled edge, and is supported by two pairs of balusters, which flank the beautifully aged beveled mirror. Each pair of balusters frames a beautiful leaf-shaped carved design and rests on the main shelf, connected to the last shelf by a fabulous pair of small turned spindles. The final shelf, a small ledge extending just above the firebox opening, is surrounded ... moreby a stick-and-ball railing, which angles inward at the front and is accented by two small ball finials. The ledge is supported beneath by a wonderful pair of turned posts. The firebox and the sides of the mantel feature lovely chamfered edges. This mantel is in excellent condition; it has been stripped and is ready to accept a finish. Has a poly finish on it. We are the mfg and have had this piece custom built at our mill. Waiting for a new home! It is perfect to dress up an existing mantle/mantel by placing on top and dressing up the old one. Dimensions: Top layer 72” long x 12 3/4” wide x 3” thick. Antique Vintage Pine Fireplace Double Mantel!!!! Firebox 36"x36"
used. i got this one and 4 others from a mid 1800s house i torn down in the early 1990s in Dundarrach. NC made from pine. simple coat of latex on it from years ago. seems easy to get off. the mantle is about 7'2" tall and 52" wide. it had plaster up next to the finished edge. kids broke the old mirror out while the house was empty so i have a replacement. double mantle shelves. made from heart pine. no labels on it. some old fire damage on the lower inner edge. the other 4 are in my families homes from wisconsin, michigan to washington state and alabama. i have it here in fayetteville, nc and right now have no idea how to ship it so for staters i will list as local pickup. maybe someone who wants it shipped can tell me how to do it. please ask questions and i will try my best to answer. what you see is what you get. no returns ... moreso measure carefully.

Fortunately. The slate surround and slate hearth came out without a fuss and are included. The finish appears to be original. As the shellac/varnish is crackled with a great patina. There are a few spots of over-paint here and there where it met the wall. There are also a few holes and nicks here and there. The large hole on the right(red arrow) is for the flue control handle(which is also included) ... moreand part of it's mechanism. The flue flap itself is not included. Check all photos for condition. There are pieces of base trim from the house that are included to finish off the bottom of the mantel's legs. They were trimmed out in place after the mantel was installed. The base trim pieces will need to be cut to size and installed by a carpenter. The original wooden trim surround for the hearth is also included, though it's in rough shape compared to the rest of the pieces. The slate pieces are in good shape overall. With some wear on their faces from many years of heat and use. The hearth stone has scuffs and wear, as well as a few chips here and there. Check all photos for condition. This is an antique 18th or early 19th Century Fireplace Mantel. It came out of the historic Jacob Mills House in New Windsor. NY, which was built in 1770. Jacob Mills supplied George Washington's troops with shoes and firewood, while Washington was stationed right down the road during the Revolutionary war. The fireplace mantel is all pine, all original in great condition, and measures 54" high, by 71 1/2" wide. The top mantel is 10" by 1" by 71 1/2" The opening of the mantel is 38" high by 48" wide. John Bryan Fineart One Of A Kind Hand-carved White Pine Fireplace Mantel
This mantelpiece was created in 1990 from old growth White pine and features hand-carved Atlantic salmon swirling over a colorful redd. Trout lilies and classic featherwing salmon flies. The carvings are hand painted with Grumbacher's artist oil paints. The mantel was originally painted white and used in art shows and exhibitions. The trends at the time were considerably focused on natural woods(cherry and walnut primarily) and for that reason it never found a home, but spawned a number of commissioned pieces in natural woods. It is one of a pair of fly-fishing mantels Bryan created on speculation to use as examples at art shows to demonstrate the possibilities for commissioned pieces. The mantel has been exhibited periodically for various events. But has spent most of the past 25 years stored in a crate in the artist's studio. Bryan ... morestripped the white paint off the mantel recently to create the effect of an old mantel, once painted and now stripped down to the beautiful pumpkin pine. The painted centerpiece, trout lilies and salmon flies were left painted. The result is a wonderfully folky mantelpiece with classic proportions looking for a home after all these years. It has never been installed in a home and thus is offered as'new' It represents a'break out' moment for the artist as one of his unique blends of sporting art and classic architecture. It was featured in a number of publications such as Yankee Magazine. Sports Illustrated, Fly Rod& Reel, and more in the early 90's. Copies of them and it's provenance come with the purchase.
