The leather is basically gone although all the riverts holding it in place are still there-the wood parts are in pretty good condition although there is a crack on the back side from near the handle to the center air intake hole. the metal blower end has surface rust but is still in pretty good shape. This rosewood fireplace mantel/surround is in the living room of a Victorian brownstone which was built in the 1870's by a Civil War colonel who was later the proprietor of a dry goods store. That was an age of opulence. And buildings on the street where this is were built with materials which simply are not available anymore. This is located in Pottsville. Pennsylvania, on the same block where author John O'Hara once lived. Only local pick-up is available. And the buyer is responsible for removing it from the wall and the premises.

This is a wonderful old fireplace mantel. Oak wood. Very heavy piece, but painted to look art deco. The mirror has some marks but overall pretty good for the age. Now here is a rare find, a victorian beveled mirror fireplace screen in great condition. Usually all of the silvering has worn off the mirror, but this one is in excellent condition. There are a few small areas where the silvering has worn, but it is barely visible from the front. There is a date stamped on the back of the mirror, but I can't make out the year. This has definately been used by a fireplace, ... moreas there are traces of soot on the orange of the mirror back. The frame is brass and is also in great condition. The only problem that I can see is one of the legs is a bit bent, this does not affect the stability or beauty of this great piece. The front has hand painted flowers, the edges of the flowers have disappeared a bit from cleaning over time. This is in the condition that I purchased it. It stands 28" tall and is 16 1/2" wide. This is a really neat fireplace screen. It is bamboo& ribbed glass painted. appears to be early 20th century. It measures 30" tall x 18 1/4" wide& the glass is 20" tall x 16 1/4" wide. There is a crack in the bamboo on the bottom right that is 4 3/4" long& the glass is broken on the edge of the left bottom, there may be some missing small bamboo pieces on the glass edge, making the glass a little loose. Antique. Circa 1890's, ornate cast iron summer cover surround. The surround measures about 24 1/2" wide, 20 1/8" wide inside x 30" tall, 25" tall inside x 3/4" thickness on side edges. The rear is marked, 422" and"20" The back has various mounting hardware as pictured. The surround has a black protruding hood with floral designs and a center fleur de lis. The top gold painted areas have designs and flowers. Each gold side part has a torch with flames and leaves on the side. The paint is a recreation of the original colors. During cleaning and removal of top layers of added paint there was enough of the original paint remaining for me determine the color. This piece has been in our family for several years at this point. It was originally purchased at a local sale and was said to have come from the Ritz Carlton's lobby in Boston. MA. I have no idea of the age of this piece. It has a wonderful looking patina to it with lots of hand painted detail. Hinges allow the screen to stand freely without support. Would make a fantastic fireplace screen or decorative panel. One hinge, although fully works, has a brass nail that keeps the hinge swinging freely. I honestly hate to part with this, but has not place any longer our home. I would prefer someone pick it up, but will ship. I'm hesitant to guess on the shipping costs. I have for sale 2 rare. Authentic metal, brass possibly? antique fireplace wall plates. We had these type of plates in our house back in the early 60's hanging on our wall to keep soot from coming in our house from the coal furnace. They are beautifully hand painted, they are 9 1/2" all the way around, shows expected signs of wear and around the edges, bends, dents, but can be worked out by a metal worker. Patina can be seen on the front and back, can be cleaned, but if I were you I would leave it like it is. One of the hooks were replace decades ago, over all condition nice, art work still looks good. Beautiful Mahogony Wood and Hand Painted embossed leather tri folding three panel fireplace screen. Beautiful colors that really make this piece stand out. The colors are a mix of black. Green, yellow and sort of an orange color. I was able to find this fireplace screen in a catalog from the manufacturer dating it from 1920-1930. At that time it was a very expensive piece of furniture to own. It cost more than most people made in a week. It still has the Brass metal plate attached to the bottom with the product number and manufacturers name. The FERGUSON BROTHERS MANUFACTURING CO. in Hoboken, NJ was an upscale manufacturing company having started out in New York prior to opening in NJ. They opened in Hoboken in 1900 and closed in 1945.
