I BOUGHT THIS IN ENGLAND IN 1960. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A PRE- VICTORIAN PIECE. I HAVE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF IT AND IT IS IN THE SAME CONDITION AS WHEN I BOUGHT IT. HOWEVER. THERE ARE SOME MUCH EARLIER CONDITION ISSUES. THERE ARE 72 BRASS HALF ORB DECORATIONS, SOME ARE DENTED BUT NOT TOO BAD, 16 OF THE ORBS ARE MORE SEVERELY DENTED SEE PHOTOS# 4-6 IF IT WAS IMPORTANT TO THE BUYER, I AM SURE A GOOD RESTORER COULD REPAIR THE ORBS. THIS LOOKS TO BE A HANDCRAFTED ANTIQUE FIREPLACE FENDER. FENDER IS APPROX. 20 LBS AND LOOKS AS IF IT HAD BEEN WRAPPED AS SHOWN IN PHOTOS. 2 VERY NICE ORNATE DESIGNS ON FENDER. FENDER IS MARKED-IMPRINTED ON BACK. 3' 6" X 11" AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE MEASUREMENTS, BUT THE FENDER MEASURES 34" WIDE, 13.5" DEEP AND 4.5" TALL. FENDER COULD USE POLISH AS SHOWN IN THE CORNERS AND ON THE INSIDE MIDDLE THERE IS A NICKLE SIZE TARNIS MARK.

There are some fireplace tool scratches/ marks along the front edge that should polish out as they are only superficial. There are no major dents in the brass. It has a beautiful brass patina.
