Antique Cast Iron Fireplace Grate w/ Insert, Wood or Coal Box Ornate Design
This old 1800's grate was my grandmothers. Who was born in the 1800's and married in 1901. She used this to burn both wood and coal to heat her home. It measures 24"wide X 11" deep X 12 1/2" high. It is in very good condition for a used antique item of this age. It has No broken or missing pieces. I have not found the first bit of damage to it anywhere. It does have some surface rust, especially in the back. The front has little squares across both the top and bottom rim of the box with an ornate floral design down both sides in the front. It has been painted with a light green(sort of sage color) oil based enamel that has partially worn off. It is marked on both sides L for Left and R for Right and the number 24 is on the inside front panel.On the bottom it is marked 24P. The bottom grate has a swinging centerpiece ... moreto let the ashes fall to the floor and it is also completely removable. It is very heavy weighing approx. 40-45lbs. Here is a Antique Cast Iron fireplace insert in very good condition for its age. I just purchased this from an estate sale and the owner said its been in the house since he can remember and he was about 50 years old. The piece has numbers on it in the back 1505-18-20 the swivel grate is numbered No.2 230. I can find no other markings. The grate measures 20 inches wide. 18 inches high and 12 inches front to back. The condition is very good no damage I could find just some surface corrosion from use and age. The grate looks like it could come apart with a turn of a heavy screw driver but that looks like it could be an issue from age I don't think they will turn without major cleaning and oiling. I will be shipping this in one piece and wrap the swivel grate separately. GOOD LUCK!

The large back plate is adorned with a deep relief casting, the charming and whimsical image of a grinning, winking moon face set in a field of six-pointed stars. Think of it as a delightful piece of jewelry for your hearth. Condition is rustic. Yet, grand. Part of the fire-bed swivels and lifts out to help with ash removal. The back plate also lifts out. Measures 19 3/4" across the front at its widest point, 14" tall at its tallest point, and 10" deep. This piece was found in New England. The first region of the US to be transformed by the Industrial Revolution in the 19th C, and I believe it originated there in one of the early foundries. Antique Fireplace Surround with Insert and Grate by Wm H Jackson & Co.
Late 1800's Iron Fireplace Surround with attached Insert and with Grate. Out of an 1800 home in Troy. NY, where the American Industrial Revolution began. This piece was created by the foundry of Wm H Jackson& Co. in NYC. and is numbered"140. The Jackson family had foundries in New York City through most of the 1800's into the early 1900's. As you can see in the pictures, the actual fire surround can be detached from the insert if you wish. All pieces have surface rust but are very solid. The rear covers are missing. Very few of these pieces exist now due to age and urban renewal destruction. A really great Americana piece ready to be admired and even brought back to its original beauty. Surround is 33" high. 31" wide and 3" deep. Surround opening is 27" high by 18" wide. Attached insert is 9" ... moredeep. Grate is 18" wide by 9" high. Total weight approx. 50 lbs. Due to size and weight. It's highly recommended that this piece be picked up at our Shoppe in Troy, NY. If shipping is needed, we will work with buyer to determine best shipping options. Selling a stunning Antique Cast Iron Fireplace Basket Grate Coal Box Wood Log Holder from the late 19th century. Measures roughly 18" tall x 24" wide x 13" deep. Features a beautiful Fleur-de-lis/lily motif. There is a door/flap on the bottom that is able to tilt and allows you to dump the coals or ashes. The back is stamped 1505-24. The sides stamped 1505L and 1505R, face is stamped 1505, the bottom is stamped 24 and the door/flap is stamped 230. In Good Used Condition, shows appropriate wear for it's age. Still has the original dark blue paint but it is chipping and has some rust. Please see pictures for more on condition. Let me know if you have any questions.
