For sale is an old antique cast iron or iron fireplace front surround. This item was removed from an house in Saint Louis City. Most of the houses were build in the early 1900's and late 1800's. This item does have wear from age. Paint peelings, and scratches. It could use painting and does have surface rust(See pictures) There are no cracks that I can see. The measurements are about 31 1/2" wide x 31" tall, the opening is 20 1/4" wide x 25 1/2" tall. This item does have some flaws,but is usable. The research I've done on Zillow.com,the house this came from was built in the early 1900s. The ite m does have a little more sur face rust from being store.B ut still us able. AS-IS. Beautiful Antique Victorian Era Fancy Cast Iron Fireplace Front Pediment 19 lbs.
Beautiful Antique Victorian Era Fancy Cast Iron Fireplace Front Pediment 19 lbs. I am still listing new items from Indiana. And have a boatload of new things from the flea market too. Lots of primitive antiques, farm finds, folk art, and the usual wacky Maureen stuff- you don’t want to miss this week! Here is a drop-dead-gorgeous Victorian era cast iron fireplace front for you- ready for your hearth or just beautiful decor. You won't believe the heavy 19 lb weight- and it's all cast iron. Too. This beauty has a lovely fancy scrolly design in the center, and it's most recent coat of paint is jet black. Sometimes black comes off looking a little grey with my camera, but it's jet black for sure. This is only one of many many coats of paint- you can see other colors where the paint is very shabby chippy worn- more so on the edges ... moreand highest relief areas- see photos 4-11& 14, but there's small spots of wear in other areas of the body too. The color before the black looks to be a buttery yellow(best seen in photo 4) On the backside as seen in photo 20, there's literally drips of paint from days gone by. The same yellow mentioned, as well as a rose color and light green can be seen) I don't know if that's paint layers from painting this front, or drips from the wall(which is what I think) but it's all part of the very cools story of this oldee! The many layers of paint have protected this beauty well, and there's very light surface rust in the spots where the paint is worn down to the metal- minor, especially for the age. It measures 27 3/4" tall and 18 3/4" wide. It's about 1" deep measuring from the back to the highest relief areas in the front. Each foot on the bottom has one screw mounting hole from when it was in place. It's dirty, and needs a good bath- I have not cleaned it in any way. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition- built to last and oh-boy it has. What a treasure! At this weight, it will be expensive to ship to some locations,

antique 1800's cast iron fireplace front. this is a great piece it was made by c&p foundry it is cast iron. it is very heavy and very ornate. there are many great features around the entire piece. it measures 301/2 inches tall and 301/2 inches across. this was taken from a estate up here in northern new Hampshire. I don't know if it was forged up here as there were several foundries up here in the 1800's. it has the 4 masonry tie hooks on the back.it has a wonderful patina over the entire piece. a great fireplace front they just don't make stuff like this anymore.

Antique Fireplace Front Magnificent Copper Flash - Harpist and Child
Here is a wonderful cast iron"summer front" from the late 1800's. It is 20.5" wide by 18.75" tall and weighs about 18.5 pounds. These were used to close off the fireplace opening when not in use. The cast image is of a nicely proportioned female harpist with her gown blown asunder to reveal some leg- titillating at the time- and a young student. The finish is a gorgeous copper flash. Very much a lost art of the age. Both knobs are intact. It has a sturdy wire on the back secured by washers to the two knob screws, which allows hanging on the wall for display. The last image is the recommended hanger for use with standard drywall.

This is a beautiful cast iron"summer front" from the late 1800's. They were popular to close off the fireplace opening when not in use. The image is of two medieval or renaissance musical instruments. Probably a lute and a lyre. It is 20" wide by 25" tall, weighs 22 pounds and has a sturdy hook on the back for display on your wall. The casting number on the back is 262. The finish is black paint, but could be stripped to reveal the original finish if wanted. Usually these fronts have an ornate flash finish of bronze or copper.

Ornate late nineteenth century cast iron fireplace insert. Curved front with two faces surrounded by a garland. Overall in good condition, rust present but no irreversible damage(could be sanded and either repainted or powdercoated) 19-3/4" wide, 13-1/16" high, 3-11/16" at the deepest point.
