Which is a bummer, but it you wanted to use these that is the end that would be in the fire so you wouldn't notice it. These pieces are very heavy for their size weighing a combined weight of 57lbs. Up for bid is the pair of antique FIREPLACE ANDIRONS/ FIREDOGS. As seen in the pictures/ as described in the title. They are in the Arts and Crafts/ Mission style with a simple yet detailed design. I believe they are likely made of 100% solid cast iron with a hammered finish.but may or may not have a copper tin layer applied.I just am not sure. Both are embossed"1921-2 MADE IN USA" on bottoms of the horizonal bars. Both are EXCELLENT with NO major defects or repairs. Wonderful, thick patina throughout, yet clean to the touch. George is 14 1/2" tall by 7" wide by about 2" thick which gives him a 3 dimensional look. Total length with log holders 17 5/8" One has a chip on the outer edge of his left thigh and they both have rust but overall a nice pair being over 100 years old. 2 ANTIQUE ANDIRONS Here is an interesting pair of andirons. They appear to be brass. At least the center posts do as you can see the brass under the patena and rust. The bottom leg area is showing some silver metal, too heavy and thick for aluminum, I would think. They are heavy, each weighing 11 pounds. They are rusty and may have been painted at some point. Within the patina are colors of red/pink, browns, gold and silver. The metal is thick. The back braces are cool looking. They measure 19.75" in height and 10" front to back. The back of each upright is marked A1 and a symbol I can't make out. The back bars/braces are marked D4. I would say these are very old. From the 1800's although they could be from 1900's. Vtg 1930s Antique Art Deco Figural Seated Dog Fireplace Andirons Firedogs
I have up for sale a wonderful matching pair of vintage circa 1930s Art Deco Seated Dog Andirons. Manufactured by the Tennessee Chrome Plate Co- Nashville. The andirons stands approx 18" tall and are made of heavy cast iron- with electroplated brass fronts. The back sections are stamped with the manufacturers name- Tenn. Chrome Plate Co- Nashville. Both are in Very Good to Excellent Condition- No Damages and any wear is light. Some normal age and use wear to the brass plating. Original pair of Peerless fireplace andirons in very good condition all parts are numbered. I am not sure if they were painted that color or maybe they are brass plated. Either way, just a great finish with an old Gothic look. These Peerless andirons are approximately 18" tall and 10" wide at the front feet with 19" total depth.I will dismantle these for shipping. I noticed one of the connecting bolts is a replacement. works as it should, no damage no repairs see the pix below. These great old fire dogs ship free to the lower 48 States. Pair Fireplace Log Holder Beautiful set of andirons and firedogs Andirons are 18" tall and 7 1/4" across the feet Firedogs are 12" long X 3" across Hardware not rusted or seized Brass needs to be cleaned and polished.
