Peck Stow& Wilcox Company I found these great Owl Andirons in my 94-year-old father’s estate. They’ve been in my family for as long as I can recall. I remember as a boy staring at the yellow glass eyes as the fire lit them from behind. These very beautiful(and very heavy. Each one almost 7 pounds) Perched Owl Andirons are in amazing condition. There are NO breaks, cracks or signs or past repairs. The yellow glass eyes look just like new, and the light of the fire makes them glow like the owl is alive! It is rare to find all four glass eyes in PERFECT condition; there are no cracks. Chips or scratches on the eyes. The Owl measures 15.5’ tall and is 9.75” wide at the base. The firedog(the piece that the logs rest ... moreon) measures 14.75” long. One of the firedogs is missing. They sell replacement firedogs at fireplace shops and it simply slides into a track on the back side of the andiron. The markings on the inside of each andiron are P S& W Co. There are two other markings a‘G’ and‘S’ stacked over one another to the left of the company stamp. this is an absolutely stunning pair of rare antique ornate victorian brass fireplace andirons. they have an obscure design with a dual andiron on each piece. they have a great 3 dimensional flame finial which is very detailed. The back/ wood rests are made from cast iron. With a brass plate over the top, and this is where the second is located. the brass has a great patina from age. one measures 22 inches tall by 9 inches wide by 17 inches back to front. there is slight ware to one of the back finials but facing toward the back it is hard to see. and some blacking on the back of the backs as well but will buff or clean up. great rare set. This is a rare set of antique cast iron full body horse andirons. From the early 20th century. They both stand 10 1/2" tall by 12" wide by 16" deep and have no damage or repairs. They both have great original patina that I have done no cleaning on them and will leave that up to the winning bidder. They are both marked on the arm sections. One is marked, 120 E R" The other is marked, 120 E L" I believe 120 is the mold mark with the E being the company mark and the last letter meaning right or left. Very Rare Gorgeous Bradley and Hubbard Dolphin Andirons signed"B& H 9512. An identical pair can be seen in the Smithsonian Institution Castle Collection of fire tools and andirons at Smithsonian Institution web sight. The dolphins are in great condition with an attractive design with scrolled tails facing each other and a untouched natural patina with very little of the original paint remaining. One of the iron fire dogs have a professional blacksmith repair of an old break which in no way hinders the beauty or usefulness and can still come apart as they are meant to. DESCRIPTION– Estate fresh and rarely found Federal period(1790-1830) brass andirons with matching tools and tool jambs. They have double urn tops and finials with beaded banding above round columns that sit on spurred cabriole legs with hoofed or slipper feet in the Chippendale style. Most likely a New York or Boston foundry. The former owner was told these were by Richard Whittingham. Since I am not an expert in this area I am selling them as Federal period. CONDITION– They are in very good and sturdy condition with age related wear. There are possible old areas of repair/reinforcement to the ends of the iron dogs. A tear to the edge of the shovel, and a separation or repair to one of the log stops. The brass needs to be polished/cleaned. In the photos the legs may appear splayed out as they sometimes get. They are not splayed. MARK– Could ... morenot find any signatures or markings. SIZE- The andirons are 18 3/4” high and 18 3/4” deep to end of dog. Here's a very nice set of cast-iron. Hessian Soldiers Fireplace Andirons and tools. Rare to see both together; usually the tools get separated from the andirons. In pretty good condition with original vibrant colors-have no major damage but do have a few light scratches and burns(yet rather mild to what is usually seen with these) The Andirons are 20" high. 18" long, and 11" wide(at their feet) Tools and Tool Holder are 31" high. Some historical info follows: The earliest Hessian Soldiers andirons were cast during the 1820's. Most of the Andiron sets with Hessian soldiers having color date from the post-Civil War era of 1870-1910. Which found it easier to borrow money to pay for their service than to recruit its own soldiers. The British used the Hessians in several conflicts, including in Ireland, but they are most widely associated with combat operations in the American Revolutionary War. Vtg Set Virginia Metalcrafters Dolphin Andirons Brass & 3 Fireplace Tools Rare
From a recent estate sale. This is a fantastic brass and wrought iron fireplace set made by Virginia Metalcrafters. They are signed in the back of the andirons under the wrought iron dogs. They are done in the stylized form of dolphins. The main dolphins are brass and the smaller dolphins are cast iron. Even harder to find are the original tools. I have 3 of the original tools with no stand. They also have stylized dolphins that perfectly match the andirons. I have not found the mark on the tools, however, I am sure they are correct for the set. Someone tried to polish an area at the bases of the brass andiron dolphins. No actual damage, the fronts of the andirons can swivel partly as well.

RARE ANTIQUE PAIR ANDIRONS CAST IRON FIREPLACE FRENCH BULLDOGS GREEN GLASS EYES
This auction is for a pair of rare antique Andirons cast iron fireplace dogs. I think these dogs are either French Bulldogs or Boston Terrier Bulldogs. There are some letters embossed on the back of each dog. But I can't make them out. I think it stands for Liberty Foy Labrador. Each dog has original green glass eyes. one of the eyes has a little rust stain on it. As far as I can see, the eyes don't have any chips. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs to the cast iron. There is light surface rust on them. I took some pictures with the flash and some without. These are a darker brown color. Each one stands 17 inches high by 7 inches wide. The original back brackets that would have held the logs are not there. I made brackets to hold the dogs up, so they could stand by themselves. Sold as is. Vintage Harry S. Truman Andirons RARE!! Foundry Mark & Number 33 Heavy Cast Iron
This is. As far as I can find out, a one of a kind pair of antique andirons. I have looked all over Ebay and Google and everywhere is and can't find any like these. I believe this to be Harry S. Truman. There is a tag? or something in his pocket that has the letters 300 and Ga and the number 33. That led me to believe that is for him being the 33 President. I don't know what the other number mean maybe foundry marks. Or maybe that is supposed to be a buck in his pocket for"The Buck Stops Here" They are very old, probably made in 1933? I would appreciate any knowledge that you may have on these andirons. This is the best that I could do. They measure 17 long, 17 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" wide. Andirons Cast Brass Iron Fire Dogs signed N Johnson Boston 1800s Antique Rare
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 HTF Antique Andirons N. Johnson Boston circa 1820. Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Beautiful Unique Cast Brass and Iron Andirons stamped N. Johnson Boston. The 1823 Boston Directory lists Nathaniel Johnson as a coppersmith at 11 Marshal Street which was near the Hay Market. Not far from Nathaniel Hall. The andirons have no screws or bolts. Crafted completely by a black smith with a style indicative of the Charlestown, Massachusetts forges circa 1820's. We do not have any individual provenience on these Andirons. But there is a listing of similar andirons at the Old Sturbridge Village Museum in Massachusetts where they attribute the andirons to"Nathaniel Johnson, Boston, Massachusetts. Nathaniel Johnson is listed as a coppersmith in Boston Directories from 1816-1823. This is 1 of 2 pairs of ... morelabeled Johnson andirons known at time of acquisition. Nathaniel is listed as a jeweler in the 1825 directory which indicates he moved in a different direction in his career and why there are not very many andirons with his name on it. The other pair is listed in the inventory of the Winterthur Museum in Delaware. If you look closely at the last picture you can see the fine cast line in the brass. The andirons were braised together by a talented craftsman. The Andirons weigh approximately 6 ½# a piece. It wasn’t until after the 1830’s that forges had the technology to cast hollow brass. Condition: Brass is in good shape with numerous fleabite nicks as would be expected in an antique that has been used for over a hundred of years. The brass is polished but there are some spots that could use additional polishing. Please look at the photos closely. Note that one of the dog legs or log holders has been repaired by a blacksmith some time in the past. The dog legs have light rust and pitting but are still strong and usable. Both are completed with original back log bars, which are made to fit only these andiron fronts due to the interlocking notch& bolt setup. Bolt/nut holding on back bar are not original bolt/nut, and are rusted and should be replaced to hold together firmly(nuts rusted in spot were it leaves back bar lose and can slid off by wiggling) Andirons measure 17 3/4" tall, 8" apart at feet, 17" deep. Mission, Arts & Crafts Andirons - Rare, Large, Heavy, Unique!
This is a set of rare Arts& Crafts or Mission style andirons. I have not been able to determine the maker. I have been watching for close to a year now. And have not found a pair like them in any antique catalog, auction listing(including prior auctions) dealer listing, or for sale here on eBay. These have great style, and are all original. These are mostly cast iron. And they seem to have originally had a plate finish on them which looks something like an antique brass. I polished one face of the top piece of one of the andirons to show what the finish may have looked like. I have included a close up photo of this area for you to check out. You also can see some of the original plating in the close up view of one of the foot sections. This set could be polished to expose that plating finish all over(to the extent it still remains) they ... morecould be allowed to retain their current aged appearance, or they could be re-plated in whatever fnish the buyers prefers. Notes: The area that was polished will return to its aged appearance over time if it is not coated to prevent oxidation. Neither plating not polishing services are included in this auction. That said. If buyer would like these re-plated before being shipped, that might be able to be arranged. There are several very good plating services in the Milwaukee area. These are very heavy. Rare Antique 19th Century Wrought Iron American Andirons Serpentine Mushroom Cap
This is a rare pair of Antique. Possibly 19th or 18th century(I'm not sure of exact age) Wrought Iron andirons, possibly made in America. These andirons measure about 16" tall, by about 13" deep and weigh about 9 lbs. each. Not sure of the age, but they look old to me. Each andiron has a wonderfully shaped"Mushroom" top and serpentine shaped body. With a"Viper" shaped central section with pierced sides. Even the feet have little decorative ends. The iron work on these andirons is oustanding! and the sculptural lines. And dramatic form is stunning!
