2 Antique Vintage Wooden Finial Newel Post Topper Spire Architectural Salvage
Up for auction is this LOVELY pair of carved wood finials or post toppers. They were purchased in Iowa in the early 70's and have been used as decor pieces since(by themselves on a bookshelf or as bookends) They have their original paint and are in wonderful condition given their age. They were lathed turned and then painted with a silver base coat(waterproofing? then the barn red over that. They have TERRIFIC patina and character! They each mesure approx. 17" tall and 4" at their widest.

Vintage Carved Solid Wooden Acorn Finial - 2 1/2"
This wooden acorn finial looks older. But I cannot say for certain how old it may be. It stands 2 1/2 inches tall and at its widest it has a 2 inch diameter. The base has a diameter of about 1 3/8 inches and the hole in the base has a diameter of about 1/2 inch. This finial was very dry and I've cleaned it once with build-up remover and lemon oil; however, it's likely that it will dry out again. The finish is uneven and has wear and shallow scratches, which gives it a nice old patina. However, I believe that it could also be refinished. Posted with

This is a quite superb wooden oak gothic finial with the pair of lion heads to either side with other carvings of which: During our research we have been informed it certainly dates from the early period of the 19th century and is of a black forest origin. Dates about c1820. Wonderful overall intricate carved finial with the quite superb carved gothic lion heads to either side. Leaf and other to the top. Carved in relief. Therefore a one piece carved finial. Other carvings of around the circumference. The carved decorative oak finial has an overall height of about 9.25inches. Max dia of about 7.25inches. The larger one on the dowel is approx. 5-1/4" tall from bottom edge of finial to top(not including dowel) This one has a couple of cracks in it. The dark med. ones are approx. 4-1/4" Small ones are 2-1/2" approx. These small ones have more wear than others. All have some wear from age use-however. These show most wear. Light colored med one is approx. 2-1/2" not including dowel. This were pretty dirty and I did clean them, however, they are not perfectly clean. I gladly combine shipping.
