Up for auction is a large-sized old cast iron fence finial shaped like a Fleur de Lis. This heavy old piece measures 7.5 inches high. Has a maximum width of 4.75 inches and the base measures 1.5 inches across. Inner square opening is 1-1/ 5" of an inch x 1-1/ 5" of an inch. Condition is great; there is random light rust. But no ob vious damage. It is pewter-tone. I don't know how old it is. I've owned it for approximately 12 yea rs. Having purchased it from an antique shop. Beautiful. 8" antique flame or torch architectural, fireplace or fence finial with a hollow 2 1/2" square base. I'm fairly certain that it is made of brass, which would lead one to believe it has to do with a fireplace. As you see it has a beautiful patina and where it is worn on the edges you can see the brass color coming through. This would make a beautiful, unique decorative piece. The weight is 3 1/2 lbs. To me it has an Art Deco style, though it may be much older as it came from a country estate and had been stored away in an old farmhouse for many years. This listing features an old. Solid cast iron bird finial. I believe it was on a gate or fence since it has a threaded post on the end. It is painted white and there is the usual weather wear to the paint with some rusting as shown. I think it is wonderful. There is still some threading left on the post. It has an encrusted rusty surface and a slightly uneven bottom where it broke away from the rest of it. It would look smashing as a piece of room decor- I don't think it would be difficult to build a wooden stand for it, perhaps with some distressed painted finish. Up for auction is a vintage cast metal primitive painted threaded fence finial recently found at aution in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition. The base is solid metal and does not attract a magnet. There are losses to the original paint. Can be used indoors or out. It features a nice dimpled design. The top is rounded, not sharp.
