Also, please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are almost 1/4" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. The door could be sanded and refinished several times before needing to be re-veneered. Penn Antique Restoration. 48"x107" Antique Victorian Double Entry Doors w/Windows& Panels. Fantastic pair of antique double doors salvaged from an old Victorian home in Philadelphia. PA. Each door is made of solid pine, and has 2 windows with a recessed panel underneath. On the exterior side, the upper windows have stepped ledges directly above, and the lower windows have stepped ledges directly below. Each window and panel is countered with lovely. Bead and reel molding on the exterior side. On the interior side, both panels, and only one of the taller windows has the decorative molding. The other tall window only has 3 pieces, and neither of the upper windows have any. Unfortunately, we are not able to reproduce this molding, but we could replace the partial moldings around the taller windows, and add the same molding that ... morewe make, to the upper windows-email us for a quote. Of the 4 windows. Only one of the taller windows has glass. The glass that remains is old and wavy. We could cut 3 more wavy pieces from our collection of old windows, or we could order and install whatever glass you like: beveled, textured, frosted, tempered, etc. Email us for a quote. Restoration: At the point of salvage. The doors were covered under numerous coats of paint(See"Prior to restoration" photos) Since then, we stripped and sanded them to the bare wood. Penn Antique Restoration. 36"x 83" Pair Antique Interior French Doors W/ 10 Wavy Glass Lites. Rare. Beautiful. Antique, French, interior doors salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. Each door has a solid Douglas Fir core covered with 1/16" birch veneers and features 5 wavy glass lites. Although the 2 doors look like a pair when placed side-by-side. They need a bit of work before they could become a true pair. One door has a lip on the edge of its lock stile and the other doesn't. The hinge stile is wider than the lock stile on the door without the lip. The extra wide stile would make it pretty easy to cut into to create a groove for the lip of the other door to fit into, and make the doors a true pair. If you don't have someone who could do this, we could do it for you-email us for a quote. Hardware: These ... moredoors are not equipped with any hardware. However. Each door is made of either Douglas Fir or pine and features an impressive arrangement of 10 true-divided old-fashioned, hand-blown, wavy glass lites. If you think that pine is a weak. Soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was ... moremilled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. This shutter was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. Pairs#3& 4 were not originally paired together. We acquired the doors from a contractor. And didn't remove the doors from the home ourselves. We don't know exactly how the doors were installed, or if there were other doors that we didn't get, which may have been the actual mates of the doors that we paired together to make Pairs#3& 4. The windows and mullions of the doors in the 2 odd pairs line up with each other, but the hinge mortises are not located in the correct positions to allow the hinges to be installed where they need to be. This is a very minor detail, which is easily corrected. The door has a solid birch core with 1/8" birch veneers and features a lovely arrangement of 8 true-divided old-fashioned. Hand-blown, wavy glass lites. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. Although this is an interior door. It can also be used as an exterior door. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However.
