1880’s Interior French Doors 15 Pane Victorian Curio Display Kitchen Pantry
These doors came out of an old mansion that was being razed in Mercer Co. earlier this year. The guys doing the work said it was supposedly built sometime around 1880 and had been vacant for probably the last 10 years or so. These doors were in an area that must have been exposed to water at one time or other and they show signs of rot along the bottom where a 1-2 inch section will have to be replaced to restore the original height. That wasn’t a problem for me because my plan was to shorten a few inches anyway and use them as see through cabinet doors for our new kitchen pantry. But the floor plan has changed again and we won’t be using them. These will need a full restoration, but the really nice thing about these is all of the glass and hardware is intact right down to the hinges. ALL DOORS ARE TENON AND MORTISE JOINTED TOGETHER. THIS IS ONE OF THE MORE DURABLE JOINTS. EACH OF THE LARGER DOORS HAVE 5 SEPARATE PANELS. THE BACKS OF EACH PANEL IS BEVELED. THE FRONT OF EACH HAS TRIM AROUND THEM. THE SMALL ONES ARE SAME BEVELE AND TRIM. THESE ARE FROM THE NORTH EAST OHIO AREA SO I AM GUESSING THEY ARE MADE OF PINE.
