Soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. This door was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. The door has a rare design featuring 4 recessed ... morepanels: 1 square panel on top and 3 long. Vertical panels below. Notice that there is no molding around the inner edges of the panels-shaker style! Hardware: Although the photos show some hardware installed; the door doesn't come equipped with any hardware. The door if finished on the exterior side and painted white on the interior side. There is an unusual arrangement of 5 recessed panels on both sides of the door. Oak is a very dense wood and the door would've warped long ago if it weren't for its veneers. The door has a rare design featuring 4 recessed panels: 1 square panel on top and 3 long. Vertical panels below. Notice that there is no molding around the inner edges of the panels-shaker ... morestyle! The door was previously used as a"swinging door. which means that it had a spring-loaded, pivot hinge installed in it's bottom corner, and swung both forward and backward like a saloon style door. The door no longer has it's pivot hinge or push plates. However, just because it was used as a swinging door, doesn't mean that you have to. We could cut the height of the door to just above of the area where the hinge was installed, or if you need the height or need it taller, we could plug the mortised area and even add to it. Look at the last photos of another door that we modified as an example. Condition: The upper hinge stile corner has a fairly big break. However, the break is only on one side of the door. It looks worse than it actually is. The corner is still tight and the break is not structurally threatening.
