antique solid victorian bronze 1800s ornate front door handle knob lock hardware
this is an exquisite antique solid heavy bronze front door handle and knocker. it has a wonderful victorian style and made from very heavy thick bronze. it has nicely cut and scrolled thick backplates attached. both piece operate perfectly and have a wonderful patina from age and patina. the lock has a brass inner knob and bronze housing. the pieces have a great bumpy textured finish as well. the handle measures 10 3/4 by 2 3/4 inches and the lock measures 3 1/2 by 2 1/4 inches. nice rare piece of early hardware. They have an incredible face inset design including the Notre Dame Monogram"ND" in original un cleaned natural aged condition and includes a shield with a design inside and weigh just under a pound as shown. Up for auction is a nice Vintage Pair of Sargent& Co. Door Knob Solid Bronze Backplates. Both backplates have aged patina. Some light scratches and one has a bend at the top/bottom(please see pics) and with some wear. The one plate can be straightened with a rubber mallet and a block of wood if so desired. Vintage Solid Bronze Victorian Door Knob-1870
I created the mold and found a local casting shop to pour solid bronze into my mold. I hand detail. And polish all knobs that are made. It is a beautiful cheryb, with angle wings. You will find leaves and grapes in her wavy locks of blonde hair. You will find traditional carvings of leaves on the back of the knob. You will see some imperfections in the item but that shows it is not mechanically made. I do have a patent on the design. This door knob weighs about 5lbs. It is so stunning, a work of art, it seems like a peice of jewerly. I am making these to order and each one will get a number marking on the back of it. RARE 2 BRONZE DOOR HANDLES 2 POUNDS ea SOLID 3.75" DIAM BASE 3" Knob 2.75"tall
NOTE THESE ARE NOT DOOR KNOBS THEY ARE DOOR PULLS. LOW RESERVE PRICE! A very Heavy set of Sand Cast Bronze Door Pulls. Maker Mark"PRH" Cast# 519. Weight 2 Pounds each. Project from Door 2& 3/4 Inch. Base Diameter 3& 3/4 Inch. Knob Diameter 3 Inch. One appears to be the active side. Less tarnish and one likely was the door less used. Deep Bronze Patina on all parts. I estimate these are from the early 1900's. Set screws were used more after the turn of the century but theses knobs could be from late 1800's as well. The design is somewhat like a Sun Flower the wreath and ribbon design is found on both the Knob and the base. Questions and Comments welcome. This is my best estimate of age. Condition is WELL ++ Above average for items estimated to be around 100 + or- years old.
