Vintage, screen door lockset salvaged from a recently demolished. 1920's mansion in Eastern Long Island, NY(see last photos) The set consists of 1 brass knob. 1 brass lever, 2 stamped brass rosettes, 1 steel barrel lock w/brass latch, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knob& lever, and 4 screws to fasten the rosettes to the door. All brass parts are solid brass, not plated steel. Originally, all parts were copper-plated, however only traces of plating remain leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. Up for bid is a vintage screen door knob w original plates& latch. We believe the middle part of round knob is bakelite but cannot be for sure. The knob turn and the handle plate has its lock that slides as it should. The mechanism will need oiled as when you turn knobs the latch does not go in& out as it should. This 8-piece set of vintage 1960s-1970s door knobs include four locking keyed-entry knobs. Two screen/ storm door knobs, and two non-locking closet knobs. The sets are made by Schlage and Weiser, but the"antiqued" anodized bronze& black finishes match perfectly. The four entry knobs are all missing their keys, so they will need to be replaced by a locksmith, but are otherwise complete in their boxes. The screen door knobs lock from the inside and aren't designed to use keys. They are complete in their boxes, but one of the strike plates is missing. The set consists of 1 knob, 1 lever, 2 stamped escutcheons, 1 barrel lock, 1 strike plate for the door jamb, 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knob& lever, 4 installation screws to secure the escutcheons to the door, and the original box and installation template. All parts are solid brass, not plated steel. We found all parts in their original box(see last photo) The set was made by"Elgin" and distributed by"Sears. Roebuck, and Co. All parts are considered, New Old Stock, which means that they were made a long time ago but was never used or installed. The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. Vintage Original Brass Screen Door Knob and rim lock Latch Handle Set 1892
Up for auction is an original vintage screen door knob and rim lock set. This beautiful lock set has a fine patina with a warm vintage paint covering some of it. Dated June 21. 1892 on the back of the lock. This set includes the lock latch piece. The back plate and a knob- handle combination with it's spindle. There is no catch included with this set. The latch piece also has a lock on it opperated from the inside only. The lock measures 3 1/8" x 2" The back plate measures 4" x 1 1/2" The handle measures 1 3/4" long-and the knob measures 1 3/4" in diameter Condition: This set is in great working condition and has a nice antique look to it. With chipping black paint on the backplate. Red paint on the latch and handle and some light scratches on the knob. Please check out my other antique hardware items!
