All pieces are in very good condition with a nice patina– I have not cleaned or polished anything; I will leave that up to the new owner, if so desired. One of the plates is missing its swiveling keyhole cover, the other is intact. Knobs are stamped“R. E. MFG. CO. SOLE AGENTS– MFG’D BY MET. COMP. CAST. CO. The shafts of the knobs are also marked with a June 7. 1870. Lockset does not have a key. But a skeleton key replacement shouldn’t be too hard to find if you want to actually lock it. Mixed Lot of Antique Doorknobs& Hardware Knobs ~ Door Plates ~ Locks ~ Hinges Ornate Victorian Style Bronze? Metal Construction In Various Stages of Wear These were found at a local estate. I do not know much about these types of items; such as how to grade their condition and function so please ask any questions before bidding if I have missed a detail. I will describe everything I see but please use the pictures as a big part of the description. It is a mixed lot with a few of the same and being sold AS IS since I do not know how to test or grade their condition. That is not to say I won't accept a return. I just want you to understand that I am limited in this area. The condition overall is pretty good and these are quite ornate. From what I have found they are antiques. With 2 of the locks stamped"Sargent" the small ... morecylinder style says"Dexter" and the 2 larger one's are unmarked. There aren't any keys for me to test the ones with locks(the 2 larger unmarked one's) One is rusted pretty bad and not sure of the lock will release but the latch works. I am unsure if they are brass or bronze but if I had to guess, bronze. The patina is darker than brass with some green so I suppose some copper. There is surface rust here and there, some worse than others, but I think it can easily be cleaned on most. One of the plates is pretty rus ty and a portion of one of the knobs is corroded with some rust and green. Antique R&E Rim Lock& Key. Fancy Brass Kenton Doorknobs c1885. Here's a beautiful and complete working antique set for your fine home; an ornamental rim lock and keeper. Two handsome doorknobs with fancy rosette, cute keyhole plate, and one working(newer) key. The antique rim lock was manufactured in the late 19th century by Russell& Erwin and has their logo on both sides. Cast iron. It's designed to be mounted on the face of your door(and can be mounted on the left or right hand- just ask us how to reverse them) There is a locking night-latch on the top; the keeper is new and a great match. This rim lock is wonderfully ornate on both sides, with the fancy logo at the center and rows of details around the sides. The classic cast brass doorknobs were m ade around 1892 by Kenton and have a handsome and quite detailed eight-fold ... morevernacular design. Hard to believe this rim lock set would have actually been removed from a grand old home- but now it can be in yours. All pieces are in excellent working& aesthetic condition. Doorknobs measure 2 1/4" and round rosette is 2" diameter. Rim lock measures 3 1/4" tall by 4 3/8" wide without keeper(keeper is 13/16" wide) Back-set(from edge of rim lock to the center of the doorknob shaft) is 3 5/8" Distance from edge to keyhole is 2 5/8. I have a nice large lot of old pressed and cut doorknobs. All but on have brass collars. Most have original set screws. A few don't. See pics closely. One has a cracked and missing collar and the white milk glass knob is missing its set screw and spins at the collar. Nice lot for your renovation or vintage repair. Fabulous lot for the creative repurpose at mind. They will need a good cleaning as they are in as found condition. No cracks or chips other than the damaged one with missing brass collar and a small chip to the face on one of the 8 sided knobs. A few different designs. There are 12 in this lot.
