Lot of three(3) sets of Antique Victorian Style Door Knobs with back plates and lock mechanism. Two sets have oval shaped brass knobs with lock mechanisms. The other set has brass knobs and cast/metal back plates with no lock mechanism. Oval knobs are approx. 3" long x 1 3/4" wide. Door Plates are approx. 8" long x 2" wide. Penn Antique Restoration. 2 avail. Vintage Art Deco Door Set Glass Knobs Plate Lock Key. Lovely. Vintage lockset made around the turn of the previous century. Each set consists of 2 glass knobs, 2 stamped iron escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with 1 working key, 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews. The majority of the brass plating wore away over the years leaving the surfaces of the parts with a nice, distressed finish. At the point of salvage. All parts were painted, dirty, and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've removed the paint, and cleaned and polished all parts. The sets are in great shape with only a few small nicks and scratches here and there. Otherwise. There are no breaks, cracks, chips, scratches, or gouges. Each lock was opened. Antique Bronze Door knob set! This is a solid cast rose brass door entry set. It has a beautiful tone. This is a complete set which includes two solid cast bronze knobs. A passage mortise lock with solid cast bronze face plate and thumb latches on both sides. The first four pictures show the knobs cleaned, but not polished, the last picture shows one of the knobs polished to a high sheen. The high bidder can request either. As well as a doorknob set and some other doorknobs, I am not sure if these are sets or not, I have tried to take clear pictures. Threaded spindles, back plates, mortise locksets, strike plates, and a fair amount of brass screws in a few different sizes and shapes. They only thing not included in this collection are the Skeleton Keys for the locksets. As with most antique hardware and knobs, these pieces have old white paint on them.some just a spot or two, others a a full brush stoke. The paint is easy to remove from the knobs and the face plates. One of the glass knobs has some surface scratches on the end of the knob, otherwise eggsellent condition with no chips or cracks. ... moreA couple of the brass face plates and rosettes might have a dint or minor dent- nothing major, but noted for accuracy. There are a total of 23 antique clear glass door knobs and a single old hollow metal door knob. I was able to assemble 7 complete door knob sets. One set has been finished in chrome on one side and has matching hardware(a strike plate. Latch and rosette face plate, all in silver with silver screws) Two of the connector loops on the actual latch mechanisms are bent and need repair or replacement. The door knob sets that I put together include the following parts: 2 glass door knobs( 2 of the door knobs are missing one brass tightening screw each) a threaded spindle with latch mechanism in the middle a door latch a strike plate to match 2 brass rosette face plates for the knobs 8 screws. 4 rounded smaller ones for the rosettes& 4 flat top brass screws for the latch and strike plates There is a large door knob and lockset that I pieced together– I am not sure if I put it together right. LOT OF 4 Complete ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BRONZE DOOR KNOBS + 8 PLATES + 4 LOCKS These are truly beautiful and would add a very special touch to any home! They do need to be cleaned. A few plates look like someone put a light coat of stain or something over it(probably when painting the door they were on) I did see a cleaning tip for hardware that has paint on it and they put the hardware in a crock pot on low for a few hours and when the pieces were removed the paint came off easily(though I am not sure if it is recommended or advised to do this to clean bronze) These are offered"as found" They are all in really good shape and as far as I can tell function properly(the stop springs back when depressed and released) I would love to keep them myself but my house was built in 1942 and they really do need to go in a house that is much older ... morethan mine. This is a rare 100 year old package up for auction. We've been in the demolition business since may 2004. Salvaging on average between 150-200 houses per year. We have an extremely large amount of antique hardware of all kinds that is slowly being sold on this site. In all of our projects we have only come across these particular sets one time. Even throughout this site there are very few"antique" Sargent& Co. items. If what other sellers on here are asking just for the Sargent mortise locks are the average price. Then what i am offering is a bargain. Anyway. Included in this package are: 4(2 sets of) octagon glass door knobs. All have been cleaned from any dirt or paint and are in decent condition with no chips. There are a couple of minor scratches that i've tried to highlight in the last 2 pics. What makes these so ... morerare is that they are rounder at the top. Where as most are flat. 2 Sargent& Co.Easy Spring mortise locks.each measure at 4 3/8" long x 3 1/8" wide. They have a brass face that measures at 6 9/16" long. 4 solid brass Sargent& Co. back plates.each measure at 7 1/8" long x 2 1/2" wide. 2 solid brass strike plates(much thicker and heavier than the average plate)each measure at 4 1/4" long x 1 1/8" wide and 1 13/16" at the widest part. included as well are the original slot head screws.all but the biggest 4 are brass. An estate find. A nice set set. Everything works as should, no bends breaks or cracks. This one locks from both sides at the same time, never seen anything like that. Could use a good polishing but looks good as is showing the true patina. These mounting plates measure 7 1/2 by 2 1/4 inches. This is a total of 52 pieces of antique door hardware consisting of beautiful solid heavy cast brass. Bronze, cast iron, some copper and brass swirl plates and knobs. Including pair of porcelain knobs and one amethyst glass and brass knob(surface crack on face. Please see above description of noted flaws due to age wear and photos. There are 22 knobs, 17 door plates, 11 locks including Mortisse, etc. plus 2 turn knobs and one large brass lock face plate. In this lot of hardware there are 6 full individually matching complete sets and four highly detailed highlighted cast iron plates by Eastlake. Also one set of door knobs of shining white metal I believe to be vintage Mercury knobs. Many ways to match up miscellaneous plates and door knobs with extra locks included to create more sets. This lot could almost fill an entire house. As for the ... morerestored finish which has most pieces in their gorgeous high lustered original patinas. I have 16 years experience in antique metal restoration and in the case of these pieces I felt that the best way to put the hardware to use in it's best finish was to refinish them. This is because most of these pieces came to me with either layers of paint or heavy dull lacquer as was commonly done in the late 1800's to early 1900's. Some pieces were heavily rusted. At any rate I left ALL OF THE PIECES UN-LACQUERED OR VARNISHED AND THEY WILL SHORTLY NATURALLY RETURN TO A SOFT MELLOW PATINA which can be kept up with hand polishing if desired which is also the best thing to do for the metal. If the high luster is desired the pieces can be lacquered to retain that finish. There are a few of the locks that have not been refinished. These pieces are various makers such as Eastlake. All are from the historic"Coal Heritage Trail" building in Landgraff. West Virginia built in 1922 by Empire Coal& Coke Company as their"Miner's Clubhouse" now the Elkhorn Inn) These locks are apparently older than the building. Which was built to replace wooden buildings on this site. We removed these door locks and knobs while restoring the building. They are all metal. And were painted; some of the face plates are slightly warped, and they need to be cleaned; there may be some rust. All are functional and appear to work. Selling as-is. Nice lot of original 12 point glass door knobs. Set o six with one to spare and their rods. Two locks. One with skeleton key, rusty, but funtional. Most are chip and crack free.I believe there are two very small chips. Also included are 8 plates and 7 brass knobs. Single glass knob comes with antique metal thumb knob or lock part. For Your Consideration At Auction: three original sets of used vintage glass door knobs(6 knobs total) with their original door locks and brass escutcheon plates- all as found and removed from one home recently- as sets. Consists of 3 door locks measuring 5 1/4" in length x 7/8" wide on front brass plate x inset of 3" depth x 3 1/2" high x 1/2" wide. Included are 6 identical brass escutcheon keyhole plates- art deco style- some having paint residue. Plates measure 6 1/2" overall length x 2 1/4" at widest part. 3 sets- or 6- clear glass door knobs- all in very good condition with no chips or cracks as far as can be determined- clean- all identical. All pieces will need cleaning before installation- locks and plates have some paint residue. Nice vintage collection- ready to be re-installed in that restored ... morehome- or re-purpose. No loose seats to knobs and no chips or scratches. You will have hard time finding better.There is one nickel plated knob, and 1 plate, this usually goes to inside bathroom. These are 12 sided knobs with 12 facets cut around sides. These knobs are in great shape with no scratches. None of the glass is loose in its brass seat. Knobs are 2" across. All paint, foreign matter, tarnish removed and glass and brass polished. I have been selling knobs for years and only list the good ones. All knobs will be packed in bubble wrap and packing peanuts.
