This set is in excellent ... morecosmetic and mechanical condition with only the typical signs of wear and use. Although the design on the lock and door plates are often refered to as the"Ceylon" pattern. That name was limited to the knob design seen with this set. This set includes a matching strike plate that has been opened up a bit, but otherwise looks fine. The switch on the face plate of the lock allows the door to be closed in a prelocked position and the included latch bolt key is needed to properly utilize this feature. The set includes one bronze faced reversible entry mortise lock. Two"Ceylon" pattern knobs, one large door plate and round knob escutcheon, matching strike plate, single keyhole cover, and both the latchbolt and deadbolt keys. Also included is a reconditioned knob spindle with new set screws. The set screw holes have been deburred so the screws turn in easily. This is a very nice functioning lock set ready to be installed. The mortise lock's backset to the keyhole is 2 5/8" and the face plate is 6 13/16" tall x 1" wide. The lock box is 4 5/8" tall x 5/8" thick x 3 9/16" deep. The large door plate is 7 1/4" tall x 1 15/16" wide. The knobs are 2 1/4" in diameter. The round escutcheon is 2 1/8" in diameter, the strike plate is 4 1/4" x 15/16" and the keyhole cover is 1 3/4" x 1 1/8" If your going to spend real money on a vintage lock set you should expect no broken or missing pieces. A look inside the lock box, pieces that have not been abraded and diminished by sand blasting and at a minimum the ability to make a return. Antique Colonial Cast Bronze Exterior Entry Door Set Lockset Knob Plate Lock Key
Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Colonial Style Cast Bronze Entry Door Set Lockset. Elegant. Original, antique, exterior door lockset salvaged from Southeastern PA. The set includes 2 bronze knobs, 1 large bronze escutcheon with swinging keyhole cover, 1 bronze rosette, 1 bronze keyhole cover, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 working key, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 set screws. All bronze parts are solid, heavy, cast bronze. At the point of salvage all parts were dirty. Partially painted, and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. You could tell that the hardware came from a well-maintained home because the set is in great shape! The parts have nicks and scratches. Which are typical for hardware this old, but no breaks, ... morecracks, gouges, or chips. The lock was opened. Inspected, and WD-40 was sprayed on and around all parts to facilitate their movement. A key was made especially for this lock, and we could make more for $6/key—let us know if you are interested. After the auction. Someone removed the buttons from the lock faceplate. The buttons controlled a function. Which disabled/enabled the knobs to turn. With the knobs unable to turn, the upper latch remains extended, in the locked position. In essence, both latches would act as deadbolts and provide extra security. Once the knobs are frozen, and the door is shut, the only way to retract the upper latch is by using the key for the top keyhole. I'm certain that whoever removed the buttons, didn't have the key for the top keyhole and he/she had to force the door open in order to push the button, to enable the knobs to turn. If this were my set, I would remove the buttons as well, and this is not only because I'm a parent of a young child who couldn't help himself from playing with the buttons; but accidents do happen. Bold, entry set salvaged from Northeastern, NJ. The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 1 large brass escutcheon, 1 brass rosette, 1 brass thumbturn, 1 brass anti-theft collar, 1 steel lock with brass faceplate, and 1 split spindle with 2 setscrews. All brass parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast brass not stamped brass or brass-plated iron. Although there are no markings, judging by the design, I am pretty sure this set was made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT. Unlike most old-fashioned mortise locks. Which have rectangular deadbolts; this lock has cylindrical bolts with odd-shaped heads. When you turn the key, the bolts spin as they spring forth from the lock. The spinning ... morecauses the heads to turn in a corkscrew manner. Because of this feature, this will require a special strike plate with circular holes, not the typical rectangular holes. Unfortunately, we don't have any compatible plates, however, I don't think it would cost too much to have one made-less than $50 for sure. We do not have any mortise cylinders that will fully extend the latch. Our cylinders only push it out halfway. However. You can stop at any locksmith shop to buy one that will work for this lock. The knobs and escutcheons have a lovely design accentuated by a grainy texture on the faces of all the parts except for the lock. At the point of salvage. The set was found with many layers of paint and was heavily tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've removed the paint, cleaned, and polished the set to the best of our ability. All parts are in great condition with only a few signs of wear like nicks and scratches. Otherwise there are no breaks. Cracks, chips, dents, or heavy scratches. The lock was opened, inspected, and we sprayed WD40 on and around all internal parts to facilitate their movement. This is not your typical vintage or antique set of hardware. I

Modern Solid Aluminum Exterior Deadbolt Entry Door Lockset Knobs Plates Lock Key
Penn Antique Restoration. Modern Aluminum Door Set Knobs Plates Lock& Strikeplate. Mid Century Modern. Heavy-duty, commercial grade hardware made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT around the middle of the previous century. The set consists of 2 aluminum knobs, 2 stamped aluminum escutcheons, 1 steel mortise cylinder with 2 working keys, 1 steel mortise lock with an aluminum faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 split spindle with a securing nut and a pin. The whitish lines or bands in the latches of the lock are made of some kind plastic. Since this set was used for commercial installation. It was designed to be strong and secure. The exterior knob is permanently affixed to the spindle with a securing pin. Once the knob is mounted on the escutcheon, the tall collar of the plate bars access to the pin. The only ... moreway you could access the pin is by loosening the screw and removing the knob on the other side of the door. The lock is not reversible. And it could only accommodate a door that swings into a home, towards the right. If your door swings in the other direction, you could still install this set, but you would have to install it upside down, with the knobs on top, and cylinder mortise on the bottom. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the bottom button. The knobs and plates have a simple. Co. of New Britain, CT around the turn of the previous century. It consists of 2 iron pulls(2 large back plates, 2 thumb latches, 2 handles) 1 iron mortise lock, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 2 nuts, 2 washers, and 2 bolts to secure the pulls. All parts are solid, heavy, and thick cast iron, not stamped or pressed wrought iron. Originally, the pulls were copper plated, however, most of the plating wore off of one of the pulls and some of the plating wore off of the other, leaving the parts with a nice distressed look. Many times. Sets like this are used only to keep a door closed and to look pretty, so we didn't make a key for the lock. The set was made by"Yale& Towne" of Stamford, CT around the 1980's. It consists of 2 bronze knobs, 2 stamped bronze escutcheons, 1 steel mortise cylinder, 1 steel mortise lock with a bronze faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate, and 1 split spindle with a securing nut. One half of the spindle is unable to be removed from the knob. To reconnect the knobs requires to engage the threaded portions of the spindle and turn clockwise. All bronze parts are solid, cast bronze, not stamped or plated iron. The white part between the latch is made of plastic which indicates this set is modern. The knobs and plates have a simple. All brass and iron parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast brass and iron, not flimsy, stamped or pressed sheet metal. The parts of this set are of the highest quality. All of the parts of the set combined weigh nearly 5lbs! In the last paragraph. I emphasized, brass mortise lock, because it is extremely rare to find an exterior lock which is made entirely of brass. Normally, the ... morebody of a lock is iron or steel, and the faceplate and latches are brass. This is a rare, and high-end lock. Another interesting aspect of this set is it's knobs. Egg-shaped knobs are uncommon and large T-shaped knobs are extremely rare. Not only are the shapes of the knobs unusual. But they are made of cast iron instead of brass like the rest of the parts. There are no signs either that the iron parts were ever brass-plated. Considering that the lock body is brass, we could rule out that the client wanted a less expensive metal used for the knobs to save money. My guess is that this set was custom made for a client who had a unique taste. Although we show the egg knob on the exterior side of the lockset. Elegant, antique, exterior door lockset made by, Yale" of Stamford CT sometime during the first half of the previous century. It consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 brass mortise cylinder, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, 1 steel spindle with 1 setscrew and 1 securing pin connect the knobs, and all 8 of the original screws to fasten the parts to the door. All brass parts are solid. Brass, not plated steel. Except for the escutcheons which are stamped(pressed) brass, all brass parts are heavy, thick, cast brass. Originally, all parts were nickel plated, and surprisingly, most of the plating remains! Either the plating is very thick, or this set was hardly ... moreused, because after almost a century of use, the plating should've at least wore off of the knobs. The knobs and escutcheons have a fantastic. Art Deco style design, which is accentuated by an unusual textured detail. At the point of salvage. Some parts were painted and all parts were dirty and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. All parts have some cosmetic blemishes including nicks and scratches. Which are best conveyed by the photos. However, these just add a distressed charm to the parts and do not pose any threat to the structural integrity of the parts. All parts are strong, sturdy, and ready to serve another lifetime. About the lock: The mortise lock is reversible and could accommodate a right or left swinging door. We found the cylinder mortise without a key. Without a key. We are uncertain if the cylinder works. You could take it to a local locksmith, who may be able to rekey it. Up for sale is this Wonderful Antique Russwin doorlock set. This appears to be complete without the screws or key. The lock measures 4-1/8X3-1/2X13/16 and the face plate measures 2X6 the egg shaped knob is about 2-1/2X1-3/4 these show minor signs of previous use. I didn't test the dead bolt lock because I don't have the key so this is being sold as is. This is fairly heavy so shipping will cost the buyer 10.00. It consists of 2 back plates, 2 bronze handles and thumb latches, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the jamb, 1 bronze cylinder mortise w/1 working key& 1 bronze anti-theft collar, and 4 steel nuts to secure the pulls to the backplates.
