ANTIQUE GLASS DOOR KNOB ASSEMBLY W/ BRASS KEY PLATES, SARGENT LOCK AND ONE KEY
We found this item on a very old door stored in the barn. This estate has yielded many locks and hardware pieces. This is the first one we have found all intact, it was on an old warped solid wooden door that belonged to one of the houses that was at one time on this estate. Here I have a Sargent lock mechanism with two solid glass door knobs. The glass door knobs are free of chips or cracks or any damage. The door this was on has been in the barn for at least 70 years, the house it came from was built around the turn of the century. There are bubbles trapped in the glass door knobs. I had found a can of antique BRASSO brass cleaner. Which I used on all the metal pieces of this assembly, and the brass came out really nice. Being an amateur clock restorer. I took the Sargent lock apart and put oil inside, the ONE key we found with this now ... moreworks great at moving the" deadbolt" back and forth. Nice intact find for a special door in an Antique/ Vintage house. The door knobs measure 2' wide X 1 1/8 deep. Other measurements are in the pictures. Check out my! Antique Glass & Brass Door Knob Assembly with 2 flange (AQ007)
Full assembly. About 5-1/4" Knob is about 2-1/8" across. When looking straight down into the glass it looks like there's a star burst pattern under the glass. The 1/4" square shaft has notches or serations along the edges. There are two flanges included. Biggest flange is about 2-1/16" across with 3 screw holes. Smaller flange is about 1-5/8" across and is flatter than the larger flange. I found 3 small knicks on the underside. These are not very noticeable. But they are there so the glass is not perfect. About 5" long from domed top of the knob to the cast thumb screw"T" T" is not flat but rounded. 1/4" square shaft has notches along the edges. Knob is about 1-1/2" high and just under 2" across the face of the knob. Looking straight down into the knob it appears like a starburst pattern is under the glass. Feeling all around the edges we didn't find any noticeable damage but 2-3 of the points felt rougher than others. Looked but could not see a knick so could be due to normal wear over the years. VINTAGE CLEAR GLASS DOOR KNOB SET WITH PLATES AND IN DOOR ASSEMBLY.
Vintage clear glass doorknobs with door plates and in the door housing. Some traces of green paint. But can be easily removed. for a solid door of 1 3/4" thick or more. Metal is copper and steel. In the door housing measures almost 5 1/4" long and 7/8" wide. Plates measure 5 1/2" long and 1 1/2" wide. In door housing also has sliding bolt lock that requires a common skeleton key to lock and unlock. Avery nice design on plates and in the door housing. This is an Vintage Antique Glass Door Knob Lock Latch Assembly from a home that that was built in the 50's. I took these out of the home that was being remodeled in a upscale neighbor hood in dallas. It has a glass knob on one side and a latch on the other with a ket hole. I do not have the key. The assembly does work. I have one more of these on auction that has glass knobs on both sides. This is for a lot of 2 complete sets and parts. They are stamped Russell& Erwin with the date June 11. 89 Knobs are in great condition. Please note these were painted over. The knobs worked fine. We just replaced the old doors in the house with new ones. No keys included. These were on doors we had stored away so the insides of the cases may not be completely clean.

I believe it is refered to usually as the Bennington swirl in reference to the Bennington clay they used to make marbles from. The lock assembly fits not inside the door but on the outside of the door. Inside the room. As you can see the knobs work the assembly fine. There is NO key to lock& unlock it so I do not know if that works& the little screw that hold the one knob on is missing. The lock has been painted on one side& there is paint spatters on the knobs as well. Please check out the pictures& e-mail with any questions.
