A wonderful pair of matching antique wooden Victorian corbels. Or gingerbread as some call it. These were salvaged from New Bedford, Massachusetts. These have original paint and patina. They measure approximately 15 1/2" x 12" and are 2 1/4" thick. One has a little damage to the top. Which any carpenter or woodworker can round off, do the same to the other, and make them both match exactly. The other one has a bit of a chunk out of the bottom, near the side, which can easily be filled. See all photos. These are substantially weighty pieces- the real deal. Coming to you original. These epic. Architectural salvage corbels with drop finals were original to a gorgeous house on South Main St. in New Milford, CT, and were given to me by the owner about 20 years ago. They are in awesome shape; clean, no rot, solid, dry, only a few layers of original distressed white paint, so details of carving are well highlighted. Corbels measure approx. 15"x15"x4" and are about 22+" on the diagonal. I used them for a number of years as brackets supporting a large. Heavy rectangular piece of glass, which made for a unique vanity/shelf over a fab silver radiator. Pair of circa 1870 vintage VICTORIAN gingerbread CORBEL brackets. Great victorian detail- wonderful old crusty white paint color salvaged OFF A large victorian farm house outside of AUGUSTA. Maine. These brackets measure 17" x 17" x 5.5" thick. The finials are 6" tall& 3.75-4" in diameter. They have an angled top to them as they ran up the gable end of the home. This can be cut to make for a flat surface& usage on a 90 degree presentation. Great for decoration or even re-use in a restoration project! PR ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE VICTORIAN WOOD OAK CORBELS PRIMITIVE CHIPPY
Please scroll down under this description for additional views. Pair of salvage architectural corbels. 10 1/2" by 5 1/2" cut from 1" thick solid oak. These were exterior supports for a porch or roof overhang and if you look at the sides, you can see a shadow outline of the wood that separated them. The faces have a routed line decoration on the top half and a foliate design on the lower portion. Definitely a pair, since the design is a mirror image. Nice for supporting a small shelf or mantel, the oak is quite weathered and most of the white paint has chipped away. One corbel has a broken off edge at the top.
