Antique Victorian Wooden Carved Winged Griffin From Old Building in Central WI
Ornately carved antique oak winged griffin. It is in excellent condition. I found this piece about 15 years ago in Central Wisconsin. It had been removed from an old public building that had been torn down for a shopping center. I have had it displayed in my office since then. But it is time to continue our downsizing and let someone else enjoy it. I am glad I was able to help preserve this piece.it is really nicely done. It is classic gothic style with wings, a crown and a curved tail. It is a heavy piece that weighs about 7 pounds. It appears to have been carved from three pieces of wood. The bottom has two holes that must have been used in the original mounting. It measures: 18" tall from the tip of the wings to the bottom where the holes are, 13" wide and the crown is 4" deep with the main part of the body 2.5" deep. ... moreYou will love this rare piece. Antique Victorian Wooden Corbel 1800's
Corbel measure 5.25" W x 9" D x 13.25" H The original finial got removed from this corbel long before i acquired the house that it came from. I replaced it with a new finial of a similar size. I did not glue the finial in place because you might want to strip the corbel first. Or choose not to use it at all. There is a strip of wood missing from the front trim piece, exposing the old square nails used for attaching the trim to the corbel.
