Description This is a pair of carved oak griffins or gargoyles with large wings. They measures 16-1/2" tall and 4-1/2" wide in front and 8-1/2" deep. They are in good condition- one is missing the oak base and the other is missing the oak top. There is one toe missing on one of them- it is the foot without the base. Each weighs about 4-1/2 pounds. Pair of handcarved antique lions head corbels. Stickers on back show they were purchased from Norton Gardner Antiques. Very nice patina on both. One is slightly darker than the other. Lighter one has a piece of wood chipped away from mouth region and other has a nick in the lower left corner(see pics) Otherwise, in very good condition. Measure 5 3/4" x 9 3/4" Wood looks like oak.

RARE Carver Signed Antique Oak Winged Cherub Corbel Clock Shelf. English
RARE Oak Winged Cherub Corbel Clock Shelf. Signed By Carver Offered is a genuine antique hand carved solid oak wood corbel/clock shelf signed by the artist J Mathews of Grantham England. This is the exquisite piece that so many more modern corbels are replicating but this is the REAL THING. Even more rare is the piece is signed by the maker which qualifies this as a true museum piece. Corbel measures 11in. tall. 12.5in. wing to wing and 7in. deep weighing approx. 6lbs. Condition is excellent for its age having no repairs still retaining a deep rich patina gained over the past 300+ years, though there are minor expected issues such as minor chipping and a stable age crack in the right wing. There really is no comparable example on ebay or anywhere else making for a very rare addition to your collection adding extreme elegance to any decor.

Fronts are in high relief with carvings intact. Both corbels are 21' to base.One corbel measures 29" in length to end of side extension and the other one is 25" to end of extension. The deepest part is 2.75" The are constructed primarily of oak with some secondary hardwoods as well. They were part of the interior structure and have survived very well with the exception of a little chipping on top as shown in photos. PR ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE VICTORIAN WOOD OAK CORBELS PRIMITIVE CHIPPY
Please scroll down under this description for additional views. Pair of salvage architectural corbels. 10 1/2" by 5 1/2" cut from 1" thick solid oak. These were exterior supports for a porch or roof overhang and if you look at the sides, you can see a shadow outline of the wood that separated them. The faces have a routed line decoration on the top half and a foliate design on the lower portion. Definitely a pair, since the design is a mirror image. Nice for supporting a small shelf or mantel, the oak is quite weathered and most of the white paint has chipped away. One corbel has a broken off edge at the top.
