Vintage Solid Wood Porch Columns removed from a home on the Charleston. SC Battery 30+ years ago and kept in dry storage since. The particular home/ address WILL NOT be disclosed due to privacy concerns. These columns have some life left in them. They were removed due to wood rot at the bottom(see pics) and had a short stint in a decorative setting for photo shoots and as plant holders in my living room for a short time. My plan was to cut a little off the bottom and off the top and re-use them elsewhere, never did it, plans change. They've been sitting in storage and I don't have a use for them anymore. So I went to a favorite antique mall that always has an awesome February sale. Picked up lots of antiques and unique items to list! I also continue to list new items from the farm estate auction, with lookouts more new hardware pieces over the next several weeks. Nopenopenope- I'm not finished with the farm auction architectural and hardware- I still have looooots of lots- it's like opening a treasure every time I open a box. I'll have new items this week. What I have here is a lot of 5, vintage solid oak turned wood staircase balusters. ... moreIt's a matching set, and they are gorgeous, with a patina that I'd describe as a dark medium. Each one weighs just over 1 1/4 lbs, and measures 30 5/8" longest. That's measuring from the flat end on one end, to the"like a stairstep) raised end on the other side- like the ends on either side in photo 8. The balusters measure 1 1/2" square at the ends, and go down to about 1 3/8" in the center where the wood is turned. They are all in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The finish shows some wear, with one that has more wear on one side than the others. There's very minor scratches, scrapes, nicks and dings that you really have to look for. Two of them have rusty nails that have been pounded down sticking out one end- see my photos. I see some light hairline cracks from age and the dry winter- but very minor and no movement at all- these are strong and beautiful and ready for you! Please ask if you have any questions. This is a very nice matching set of 6 Vintage Victorian Style Porch support columns. There are 4 main support columns and 2 close-out half columns which would be located at the end of the run. Dimensions are as follows: Overall length- 97 1/2 inches. The circumference at the top is 21 inches, the circumference at the bottom is 26 1/3 inches. Columns and matching trim items were removed as carefully as possible but as you can see some breakage has occurred. Thus some repair or reproduction work may be required. Large Antique Vintage Brass Walkway House Posts Columns Large Heavy See Pictures
Posts are about 40lbs each and 32 inches tall. The tops of the posts come out as shown in the pictures. One seems to be missing a pole attached to it. They are in overall good shape with no scratches or dings. I'm not sure of the exact age and couldn't find any markings on them. If I were to estimate I would say the 20's-40's but this is not my area of expertise. Please feel free to message me with any questions or if you know a bit about them please let me know. Up for your viewing and bidding pleasure are 6 Vintage Wood columns/pillars. These once belonged to my grandfather that he hand turned himself for his dream home he was building in the early 1960s. They are made in 2 sections at the family lumber yard and will need squaring up on both ends because the person that bought the home did not want the posts and in removing them butchered the ends a bit. There are also 2 smaller pillars. The long ones are about 87 1/2 inches long and the short ones are about 59 1/2 inches long. These are a no ship item for pick up only. Thanks for looking

This auction is for one pair of drop-dead gorgeous Victorian White Oak Fluted and Tapered Columns. Typically these would have been found on the upper deck of a fireplace mantle. Separated by a beveled glass mirror(see last photo- this mantle is for reference only and is NOT included in the auction) These columns measure 22-1/4" high overall with 5" diameter at the base. Detailed dimensions as follows(please feel free to ask if I'm not clear about a measurement) base 5" x 5" x 5/8" one only) plinth 1-1/8"H overall(1-1/16" 7/16" plinth lower 5.093"D(16" circumference) plinth upper 4.456"D(10" circumference) cap lower 3.661"D(11-1/2" circumference) cap upper 3.263"D(10-1/4" circumference) cap ring 5/16" column 22-1/4"H overall. flutes 20"H. flutes ... more3.183"D(10" circumference) at top. flutes 3.819"D(12" circumference) at base. flutes 3/16"W x 5/16" between. The columns come in their original finish and patina. Not molested(re-touched or re-finished) in any way. I believe it is shellac(becomes slightly tacky when tested with denatured alcohol) The finish is finely crazed(crackled) in the flutes. There is the occasional small bruise. Most often on the base plinth. There is also one very thin shrinkage/glue crack on each column, running parallel with the flutes. I wouldn't have known they were there, except the finish has slightly darkened and dulled along these cracks. One plinth base is missing, but this could be easily duplicated. Since I've not removed the caps or plinths. I'm not sure whether these columns are solid or hollow. The shrinkage cracks might suggest hollow, whereas the weight(about 6lbs each) suggests solid. ARCHITECTURAL ANTIQUES : PAIR OF VINTAGE CARVED MAHOGANY COLUMNS
VERY NICE PAIR OF SMALL( 19 1/2" HT. MAHOGANY COLUMNS WITH HAND CARVED CAPITALS: The overall condition of this handsome pair of matched columns is very good. There are some small chips on each capital. But with the dark mahogany finish. The chips do not stand out. The tapered shaft has mahogany veneer. The varnish on the veneer has aged to a fine stippled surface. The stippling is very uniform and of a consistent color and texture on both columns. One column does have some abrasions on the shaft and a small chip and surface crack at the bottom. Most of this damage is on one side, allowing it to be placed out of sight on the back when displayed. The hand carved capitals are in a Corinthian style. Each capital has a large raised oval panel at the center of each face. Acanthus leaf carving is draped down from each volute. If you collect ... morearchitectural items, you know that it is very difficult to find a matched pair of columns with the style and quality of this pair. The overall height of each column/capital is 19 1/2" The column portion is approx. 15 3/4" in height. The shaft tapers from approx. 2 1/2" diam. at the top to approx. 3" diam. at the bottom. The capitals are approx. 3 3/4" in height and approx. 4" square at the top surface. These are a very nice pair of columns, with very nicely carved capitals. Take them home with you, put them to some use, or just sit them on the mantel. Antique Vintage Solid Poplar Wood Doric Columns Exterior Weathered Pair 90"

Freight would be extremely costly but if you would like an estimate I'll just need your zip code. Here is a pair of big old solid poplar columns(not hollow) They are w eathered but in decent conditi on overall. The bottoms were hand cut so they may need planing. Though they do stand easily on their own. These columns are big and heavy, probably about 200 pounds each. They have a very slight taper, about 1" in diameter over 90" of length. These were turned from one tree trunk each, they are not laminated layers. There are c racks and checks on them. And the edge of one of the tops is missing(see pics) Some of the tips of t he radius details have broke ... moreoff. It looks like these were small pieces that were added to complete the curve(see pics) that have since fallen off. There is a little bit of paint on them but not much. These would make a great starting poi nt for a substantial pergola or archway. Or with a bit of repair these could be used on a porch once again.
