I just picked this one up at an estate sale and the seller told me the rachet gear click will slip about half way into the winding on the time spring and let go unwinding the spring. And did wind it just enough to see it ran just fine. The movement will need servicing! Glass looks to be old but not original along with the tablet and hands. SIZE 20" TALL x 10" WIDE x 4" DEEP. Batahla Boa Reguladora Church Steeple clock 1893 Portugal J. Carvalho antique
Here is a very nice 1893 Batahla Church Steeple clock. it is a Boa Reguladora from Portugal. It has the original label. Nearly complete on the back. The clock face is brass rolled edge over tin with a paper face. There are 2 brass keys and on metal clock hand. The hour hand. The walnut case shows its' age. But has no major damage to it. The clock movement works completely. But I am not sure how accurate it is, I do not have another hand to try it and it is missing the pendulum. The glass door is in very good condition with the etching of a Heron or Crane with trees and butterflies. It looks as if it is an 8 day clock and gongs on the hour. There is also a smaller movement that strikes the bell as well. I do not think it would take much to restore this beauty. Some wood filler, stain, a clock hand and a pendulum, along with some elbow ... moregrease and time should make this piece beautiful again. The face needs screws to hold it in place and the wood crown that the face rests on also needs screws. It is a true antique and deserves to be treated as such. Be the one to restore it! Depot#3 Cortlandt St. New York According to Spittlers' and Bailey's American Clockmakers and Watchmakers the American Clock co. was at#3 Cortland Street from 1851-1855. Clock measures: 19 1/2 Inches tall. 10 inches wide and 4 inches deep. Clock is in as found condition except for some serious cleaning(it was black when we got it) It is rough with Finials and one piece of facade missing Bottom panel of door is also missing. Doors hinges are bent and do not function. Right side of Clock works turns properly but left side has been overwound. Face is bent apparently made of Zinc as it is flexible but non-magnetic and predates Aluminum by several decades. Paper label inside clock is whole and in surprisingly sound condition. Antique Jerome Gothic Style steeple Clock Circa Mid 18Th Century McDowell Bros.
Up for auction is a mid 18th century Jerome Brothers clock case with McDowell brothers face and internal mechanisms. This clock is showing its age. The clocks door is missing 2 jam molding pieces and is no longer attached to the clock itself one of the top finials is broken off the clock appears to be mostly there as far as the inner workings. It does have the key and chime bell as well as the manufactures label Jerome and company in the back of case. It would make an excellent candidate for restoration or a ton of useful parts. Antique religious protestant old 1800's wooden historical Massachusetts church steeple clock hands parts. From THE 300 YEAR OLD(OCT 2016) First Church of Christ in Longmeadow. MA. There are five total hands. Three have a center hole. Looks like gold over black. Not exactly sure of when these hands where switched out as there were many renovations over the years. I included an antique photo of the church but these hands may not go with the clock pictured. Biggest one is 22"L x 5"W. From the estate of a Reverend in Longmeadow. The building, which was relatively small(only 32 feet by 38 feet) was located where ... morethe flagpole is now standing on the Green. The nearly square unpainted building had a pyramidal roof with a central bell tower. The first bell was installed 27 years later. During the interim, Nathaniel Burt was paid 10 shillings a year($2) to go up and down the street beating a drum announcing the services. In 1809 a larger bell was purchased from the Paul Revere Company of Boston. No one is sure just when the weathervane was installed. The rooster was made in England and imported before 1800. The first mention of it was made in regard to the“Great Gale” of 1821, when the steeple was blown down and the weathervane had to be repaired. It is made of copper, covered with gold leaf, stands 4 feet high and measures 42 inches from beak to tail. It has green glass eyes, which one can see through. One eye was replaced in 1962. It has obvious wear and blemishes in the wood(rosewood? finish) you would expect to see in a clock of this age. There are no signs of any prior damage or repair to the case. The clock face is about 4-3/4" in diameter and has wear at the key holes. The brass thermometer pendulum needs to be repaired/re-soldered. Moves freely and is dated 1881. The clock strikes/chimes and works fine. I t's highly recommended it be professionally serviced as with any piece of this age. this is a beautiful Mahogany or cherry gingerbread mantle clock made by Waterbury Clock co. 19 1/2" tall 10" wide 4" deep comes with key and pendulum.I don't kif it is working but may need tinkering and adjustment and cleaning the chime.I don't know much about these old clocks. 9870 Main St. Damascus. MD 20872 Wm L Gilbert Antique Steeple Clock Parlor Mantle 1866-1871, Here we have a Wm L Gilbert antique steeple clock. It measures about 19" tall x 11" wide x 4-1/2" deep. Features time and strike brass movement and an original art-glaze etching in the glass door. The photos should speak well enough of the condition- peeling veneer- a cracked support- pendulum is not correct. The clock seems to be in partially working condition but will require adjustment or repair to be perfect- chime cranks and strikes. Movement keeps pace but slows down(maybe because the weight is not correct) Collectors know that it is not uncommon for one of these to sell for as much as $500 so good luck. History: Gilbert Manufacturing Company(1866-1871) was dissolved after a fire destroyed the factory. This firm had grown out ... moreof the clock making operations of William L. Gilbert(1806-1890) who. Since 1828, had been involved in various clock making partnerships in Bristol, Farmington and Winsted, Connecticut. In July of 1873. The new factory complex was completed and manufacturing commenced. George B. Owen(1834-1916) had come to Winsted in 1866 as General Manager and ran the firm for nearly 50 years, designing many interesting cases and patenting several clock movement features. Owen also operated a concurrent clock business at Winsted between 1875 and 1894. In 1897. The Gilbert firm built a four-story building for a new case shop and another building by 1900 for storage and shipping. A three-story office building was built in 1902. The recession, which began in 1907, along with the financial pressures of their recent expansion headed the firm in a decline that culminated by forcing George B. Owen and his sons to relinquish control in 1914 Bankruptcy and liquidation were barely avoided in 1914 and a new manager. Charles E. Antique Chauncy Jerome New Haven Steeple Clock w/ Pendulum, Key WORKS
Item up for bid is a fantastic antique steeple clock made by Chauncey Jerome. Clock has the key with it. The pendulum and the original door with a frosted lower panel featuring a very French musical looking emblem. We wound this up and gave a light push to the pendulum and it started ticking and the hand began moving. We have been watching it for 15 minutes now and it is still going strong. The spires on the top have broken tips, the casing shows some light wear with the most notable wear being a few scratches on the right side panel of the casing, some veneer loss along the bottom right hand corner edge, some light veneer loss on the upper right hand corner of the left hand spiral block and some light finish wear on the right hand side of the right spiral block. The dial shows some paint wear with the most notable being in the upper portion. ... moreItem was found during a recent estate liquidation where it had been stored away for generations so it could use a dusting and overall cleaning but it does work and that is rare to find in these clocks that are this old. Vintage steeple style clock circa 1920's. Super design with great detail surrounding the white dial. Face of clock says Havlin Electric Clock. The rear states it was manufactured by the Kodel Electric and Mfg Co. Out of Ohio. Clock is in very good condition with no damage, though it does need a cord. There is an alarm switch on the front.
