~ French- Circa 1880 ~. ~~ Excellent condition. Fully overhauled ~~. A very fine and substantial gilt bronze table clock by Louis Japy. It is of the the ... morehighest quality. Beautifully modelled and finished in glorious ormolu(finely gilded bronze or doré bronze) It is of balloon form with bold scrolls and acanthus swags. To the top a large rococo flourish. The front and sides have sound frets backed with red velvet. We have carefully and completely cleaned and restored the clock to a very high standard. The large and stunning dial is enamel on copper and is complete with it's original finely fretted gilt brass hands and convex bezel. The bezel is marked for the retailer Charles Hour. The French movement is of high quality and has the makers mark on the movement backplate of Louis Japy. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and thoroughly tested before presenting it for sale. Pendulum is original. Beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. Acanthus flowers hang below the dial. It is in stunning condition, finely modelled with good original gilding. The dial is cream with blue lettering and has a separate minute ring and convex glass. 19thC Samuel Marti French Majolica Garniture Clock Set w/ Chinoiserie! This great early French majolica mantle clock is decorated with a figural foo dog on the top with mask handles. It is decorated in a rich blue glaze. Highlighted with gold gilt and comes with the matching candlesticks. It has a Samuel Marti movement with enamel dial. It dates from the 19th Century and measures approximately 10 + ¼ inches tall by 7 + ½ inches across the mask handles by 3 + ¼ inches front to back. The candlesticks measure 6 inches tall by 3 + ¾ inches square across the base. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks in the body of the clock or sticks, just one small chip along the edge of the glass door on the front of the clock, along with a couple hairlines in the dial of the movement, as can be seen in the photos. Antique mantle clock-Medaille D'Or by Samuel Marti
This rare clock was part of my grandmother's estate and I have recently inherited it. I do not have a great deal of information about it. However, I found a small engraving inside that says Medaille D'Or 1900 Samuel Marti. After a brief research on the internet. I found that Samuel Marti produced this clock circa the late 1800s. The clock works and I wind it once every other day. It has a very sophisticated presence with the Roman numerals and its golden details. The top and the bottom are made of green marble. There is a small damage over the number 30 on the dial and I took a very close picture to depict this minor issue. Other than that it is very lightly worn. For a clock of 114 years old. It is 12 inches tall and 8 inches at its widest.

It is beautifully made of brass with hairy paw feet. An armorial bearing to the front with Lions Rampant and mythical creatures to the sides. The front has sound frets backed with red velvet that also help to lighten the design. To the top is a large and elaborate urn with mythical creatures as the handles. The large and impressive dial is enamel on copper with a brass centre and blued steel hands. The French movement is by Samuel Marti and has the maker's mark on the backplate. Samuel Marti et Cie were well known clock makers in Paris in the mid eighteenth century. In 1860 it's known that their premises were situated at Le Pays de Montbeliard and in 1863 Marti worked with two other well known clock maker's Roux. And Japy Freres in promoting their clock movements. The Medaille de Bronze stamp refers to the period 1867– 1900. This is a French antique clock with decorative Urns that you would normally see in a museum. This piece would been only found in the homes of the richest of European society. It is made of cast bronze. Hand painted porcelain dial, ruby pallet jewel escapement pins, with the finest French manufactured Japy Freres clock movement. The movement has been oiled and works beautifully. As is typical of this clock, the movement speed adjustment on the front face.
