The façade of the clock features foliate decoration ... moreand volute feet on the lower portion. A male figure stands on the raised ground next to the movement casing holding a small bouquet. The white enamel dial features Roman numeral s and Brequet-style. Blued steel hands for the hours and the minutes. Above the X11 are two letters- R/A. This is a secondary fine timing adjustment. The letter R means retard or to slow it a bit and A indicates avance or to speed up just a bit. There is a slight scratch on the dial which extends just over the V1 chapter on the dial. The time and single bell movement is visible on the reverse. The movement also features a brass bob detachable gridiron pendulum which can be adjusted as well to fine tune the accuracy of the movement. The back plate features the makers stamp and movement numbers in addition to an additional stamp for La Croix de la Legion d'Honneur which he was awarded for his contributions to Horology. The top center of the dial bears the name of the clockmaker and noted horologist Constantin- Louis Detouche(1810- 1889) Constantin was the head of The House of Detouche who were on the forefront of French Horology by combining artistic elegance with scientific precision. The dial has an abbreviation-Fseur which means fournisseur or provider as he was appointed as the official clockmaker to The City of Paris and to the Emperor Napoleon III as well as the Croix de Danneborg by the King of Denmark. Antique French figural slate mantle clock 19th
This French mantle clock is made of slate and has a woman carrying a basket on the top. The woman appears to be made of spelter. The clock is 15 inches high. 7 ¼ inches wide and 5 ¾ inches deep. There is an Eastlake style design on the case. The clock has a porcelain face with roman numerals on it for the hours. The face is signed but it has a lot of wear and we can’t read it. The front door has beveled glass. The clock dates circa 1880. The clock is currently running but we cannot guarantee it will still be running after shipment. The movement has the number 363 on it but does not have a maker. The bell has two nuts on it to hold it in place that are not original. There are a couple of tiny chips to the slate case. There is a very tiny chip to the porcelain by the right hole used to crank the clock.

For auction is this beautiful Antique Japy Freres French Mantle Clock. The base is White Marble Onyx. This clock depicts a classical figure. A gentleman in period dress with a mandolin. The clock itself is set in a gilt case with a white porcelain dial. The base has lovely decorations with swag chains and patterns. It is very heavy. The movement is stamped"Japy Freres& Cie Grd Med. D'Honneur" means it(the movement) was made some time after the company(Japy Freres/Japy Brothers) won the Grand Medal of Honor(which they did at the Paris exhibition in 1855) they also won a medal in 1867. It shows they were awarded a medal at the 1855 Paris Exposition. It means that Japy Freres won an award in 1855 allowing them to display the award on their movements until the time a nother award might be won at a future exposition. This is a very large heavy French soldier figural clock. Moven is open escapement. Made by Vincenti& Cie France and movement is marked as shown and has"1855" date. Figure is a spelter type metal. Base is marble with plaster interior. Weighs approximately 60 lbs and is approximately 21" wide. 23" tall and 9" from front to back.Clock has no hands and there is no pendulum or key. The clock adjustment dials have a light coat of rust. Clock is not overwound but I am not sure if it is functional. Will need to be serviced. Front Movement Plate that rests against clock door frame is bent but can be straightened. Figure has a crack in leg as shown. Back door is missing. Clock needs overall cleaning and there is some red paint that can be removed. Back slab of marble has come loose and will need to be recemented. There ... moreis a crack in back marble as well. Fine moulded bronze case is surmounted by figurine of a Lady. Lady is pointing to the tortoise. Clock case is flanked by herons. In front is small scorpion figurine. Sevres porcelain inserts in the clock case and vases are with winged Cherub’s and painted in very intense colours. Enamel dial with blue Roman numerals ornate with gilt pierces pointers. The finish is a burnished antique gold painted finish over a spelter metal base. With White convex porcelain dial that has an 8 day Japy Freres bell striking movement which strikes on the half and full hour counting the hours. Antique Arts & Crafts Figural Dutch Girl French Shelf Table Alarm Clock
Up for sale is a rare vintage/ antique circa late 1800s to early 1900s French Spelter Figural Dutch Girl Alarm Clock. The little Dutch Girl is using her umbrella to try and change/ set the time of the grandfather clock. The movement is unmarked as to the maker but I believe it to be made by DUVERDREY& BLOQUEL. The back of the case is stamped. Shown in the last pic- which is for the company FABRICATION FRANCAISE,PARIS and was designed by BAYRE& GUILLEMEN. The clock is gorgeous and is in Excellent Original Condition. The clock works and from what I can tell keeps decent time. The only minor thing to note is that the stem for setting the time is not secured on to the shaft/ it will not stay on if sat upside down- in its normal position- there is no problem. The clock stands approx 13" tall and weighs approx 6 lbs 12 ounces. The ... morelittle dutch girl measures approx 7" tall. EVEN THOUGH THE CLOCK APPEARS TO BE WORKING JUST FINE.
