Seth Thomas Classical Federal Mahogany and Eglomise Clock. C. 1820, double weight, chiming bell movement made by Eli Terry for Seth Thomas, Plymouth, C.T. with painted wood dial, beautiful stencil eagle on top, reverse painted fruit basket at bottom door. Height 34 in. width 17 1/2 in. depth 4 1/4 in. Does not work but all parts are there with weights and key. There is a hairline crack in frame corner, see picture 7, and small side top molding missing, see picture 8. These do not detract from beauty of clock, it displays very nicely.

We guarantee that the works are original and complete and that there is nothing seriously wrong. Both the hand painted Face and the Eglomise Tablet Painting are original. The one real problem is the top scroll crest. A very talented cabinet maker has expertly replaced this with the proper grade of mahogany and figured maple panels. When you face this clock you cannot tell this crest has been restored. There also is a strong repair to the right front foot. The base measures 4 ½” by 17” wide and the overall height, including the original brass finial is 31 ½” The brass finials are properly constructed with a seam. Also included with this clock is a bundle of papers that give the provenance and other information about this clock. I am pleased to offer for sale a wonderful 19th century Empire Shelf Clock grand and delicious to the eye. The case of the Clock measures 31.5 inches high. 5 inches deep and 17 inches wide. It is in great condition the dial is original and the mechanism has a bell strike and weight driven works with a key wind. There are some veneer losses to the case. Wonderful clock in as found condition Aestetically pleasing but not perfect by any means. Measures aprox 31" to the top of the center finial. 29" tall to the highest scroll. 17 3/8" wide x 4 1/4" deep. The reverse painting is near perfect Inside label and instructions are in great shape Dial shows wear but in decent condition The wood is not perfect but still looks good(looks repaired in some areas) The movement(ST SETH THOMAS) is not original. It is not even close, however it keeps great time and chimes on the half and at 12:00. I am not making claims on full originality because I see some things that are questionable in my opinion The clock itself is original for sure Door lock is present but I don't have the right key Has wavy glass(probably original) Can't say for sure the finials are original Clock sits level ... morebut just a tiny bit unstable. This clock can certainly be used the way it is but some might want to go back to the original movement which could be done at a reasonable price. This clock is being sold for parts or restoration and all sales are final Will ship properly to make sure the clock arrives in the condition it is described
