The clock's dimensions are approximately; H- 28" ... moreW- 13" D- 6" The Case: The"figure 8" mahogany case is in excellent physical condition. I can not see and/or feel and chips. Breaks, etc. There are a few areas where there is a little veneer loss, nothing that I would consider distracting. See photos) The green cloth/satin is original and in excellent physical condition for a clock this old. The Dial/Face: The painted zinc dial has considerable paint loss. I will leave it up to the winning bidder to decide or not to restore it. The hands are in excellent physical condition and original to the clock. The Crystal/Glass: The crystal/glass is original and have a nice"wave" to it. The Mechanism: The 8 day spring driven mechanism is in running order and chimes on the hour. There are no markings on the mechanism. The mechanism is from the United States. Most likely from Connecticut. One of the springs is a little bit wider than the other spring. The pendulum is old and fits appropriately with the clock. Please check out this video: It will give you an idea of how the strike sounds and give you a panoramic view of the clock. The movement appears to be in working condition with the proper repairs as it has obviously been sitting for some time. It is weight driven by 2 heavy weight drive chains which I am including. Carries an minute moon hand.hour is missing. The embossed sunburst pendulum has a bit of loss at the top ray or tip.this bob may attribute it to the Morbier region of France. There is a small attached plaque at the bottom of the wood case that reads"Remontoir Brevete S.G.D.G. which translates to"Winder Patented" The S.G.D.G. translates to"Without any guarantee from the Government" or Sans Garantie DuGovernement and was required to be stamped on all objects with a legal patent in 1844 and after. Especially those manufactured for export. Some french manufacturers ... moreproduced clocks for high end jewellers such as Tiffany's, Mappin Webb and private names without stamping their own brand on the item, but they did have to stamp"Brevete SGDG" somewhere on the piece. Back side of the case has a metal wall hanger that appears original to the piece, with a number of 8322 incised on the hanging ring. Additionally, we note some pencil inscribed markings, some of which are illegible, on the back of the clock. Antique German spring driven wall clock key wind good running condition working
An antique wall clock which we believe to be German. Measuring about 44" tall, 15" wide, and 6.5" deep. It is not signed by the maker, but the movement serial number is 47607, and there is a"7" stamped above it. The clock is in good working order and a key will be included. Cosmetically, the condition is very good- there is a bit of wear and scratching to the finish of the case, particularly on one side(pictured) but there are no major problems we can see. There is also a faint line extending from the center of the dial outward, just between 2 and 3 o'clock. Please view the images as an extension of the description.
