Antique Marble Clock on Wooden Base-Made in Germany-Early 20th Century?
This is an original vintage clock made primarily of marble(I think) surrounding the clock workings and on a wooden painted base. There is a mother of pearl type cover to the center of the Roman Numerals on the dial. Also. There is a key that allows you to wind the clock at a hole in the face- it is like an old skate key and winds to the left. It does work and keeps time, losing about 5 minutes or so every couple days. I could find only one marking on the clock that says"MADE IN GERMANY" in tiny print on the metal rim below the Roman Numeral VI inside the glass face. The size is 15" long(base) by 9-1/2" tall and 5-1/2" wide(base) It is very heavy weighing over 10 pounds. The look of this clock makes me think it is from the Art Deco period but I cannot substantiate this other than via my instincts. My notes on this ... moreare completely non-existant so any other expertise/suggestions available here on EBAY would be gratefully appreciated. Condition is very fine although there is natural wear and tear over the years(mainly to the paint on the wooden base. You can get the clock fixed or just use it as a decorator piece amid your antiques. It's an eye-catcher. Or salvage the parts here if you're in the clock business. Wooden case is veneered. In front ornate with fine moulded gilt bronze on solid bronze support. In the centre is original glass window with pendulum behind. Clock is surmounted by gilt bronze figurine of a Cherub. Cherub is holding a bird and trumpet. Enamel dial with Roman numerals with minor chips around winding holes. Movement is in working condition chiming at the 1/1 and 1/2 hours on a silvered bronze bell. Movement stamped: Vor Singery a Paris. ANTIQUE DANIEL PRATT READING MASS. WEIGHT DRIVEN EGLOMISÉ BOTTOM TABLET ~ TALL COLUMNED CLOCK! Gorgeous estate collection clock. 1835-58 period of Daniel Pratt clock manufacture in Reading. Mass. Federal style columned shelf clock with wooden works.Pratt was known for his economical"groaner works" 30 hour clocks which he provided to rural families as a marvelous alternative to telling the time by the sun. This clock has had some refurbishing.we note some fresh wood mounts for the dial.the hand made wood dial appears to be of the period but adjusted to accomodate the current movement arbors. Whether the dial is original or the movement is original, or both we do not know. The movement has fresh wood shims, so although old and an original Pratt, it may indicate replacement or at the least remounting. The exterior of the case ... moreshows the original finish, including the black columns with gold embellishment. We do have some veneer loss as you can see in our posted photos(front bottom left corner as viewed) We will provide you with a piece of wood from the era that will allow for some veneer to be cut from it and replace the existing loss. General age with some scratching here adn there is noted. Top of the case shows the traditional Pratt bell assembly, however, the bell is missing. Inside we note several mounting holes which may or may not have been used for wall mounting. The eglomise' or reverse painted glass tablet is in beautiful condition and although we see no evidence of change out, we do not know if it is original to the clock. Top pane dial cover glass appears to be in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Doors open and close well.stays closed with a good closing clasp. Dial has clear numbers and beautiful original hands in place.minor age yellowing noted as well as general usage noted.nothing major or that truly detracts other than the aforesaid plugs to the arbors. Antique/Vintage Long Georg Nielsen designed Wooden Cased HAC Wall Clock Running Striking on 4 chime bars. Banjo Clock not included just for size comparison) Now this clock is an absolutely special wall clock with the case especially designed by Danish designer George Nielsen with many interesting special features. In lovely light wood the case is obviously a Danish design with a gorgeous large 21cm convex circular glass framing the dial and the lower glass framed by brass leadlighting. Decorated with wooden carved scroll embellishments on the sides and top. Side vents with delightful removable brass plates that are perforated to let the chime rods sound resonate into the room. The movement can be slid out away from the case by releasing two finger knobs and the chiming can be switched off by a special lever which slides a brake in place. ... moreAnother two finger knobs screw out extra wall grips which can give added stability and even support if you wish as this is a heavy clock. The chimes too have a clever double fork brake which can be turned on and off at the back when the clock is in transit. The case is in great condition for its age which is probably antique as there is a repair sticker on the back dated 1922. This one seems to look as fresh and bright as it always was with the fine wood grain warming your parlor. Of course it should have knocks and bumps commensurate with its age which add character but I couldn't find many and it still looks really great. The dial looks wonderful. Shiny and clean. The movement is a HAC so of very dependable German origin. This clock is not only classy it is running quite well. It has a lovely artistic brass circular metal pendulum and is supplied with key shown. Very suitable for a large home. See the photos for all the features. The case does have some veneer loss. But the clock is still in nice solid condition with a wonderful hand painted bottom tablet with some minor paint loss(see picture) It has a nice wooden face with an open escapement to view the works in motion. The paper label inside of the clock is in very nice condition. This clock has been sitting for many years. And the brass works will need to be cleaned. It has its weights. But no key or pendulum. Perfectly decorated with gilt bronze and hand painted with flowers and scene with personages. This excellent clock is made in France around 1890. Large enamelled dial with Roman numerals. Dial protected by original Beveled glass door window(door does need adjusting) Movement was just serviced and is in good working condition chiming perfectly. It has a little push button on the side that you push to open the face. I cannot see a makers name on the movement. The feet underneath are un-even and it does not sit flat and can be rocked. easily fixed) Sometimes it strikes quickly and not smoothly on the larger numbers 8-12. This will be adjustment. Antique/Vintage Long Wooden Cased HAC Wall Clock Running Striking on 4 chime bars. Now this clock is an absolutely special wall clock with the case having many interesting special features and the movement chiming system unique. In lovely rich dark reddish wood the case is of strong and imposing design with a large 18cm circular glass framing the dial and the lower glasses being beveled sections framed by brass leadlighting in the form of an oval(21cm long) highlighting the large pendulum inside. Decorated with a wooden carved scroll embellishment on the top and having small circular side windows allowing one to view the chime rods as they resonate into the room. The movement can be slid out away from the case by releasing two finger knobs and the chiming can be switched off by a special lever which slides a brake in place. The chimes too ... morehave a clever double fork brake which can be swung into position when the clock is in transit. The case is in great condition for its age which is probably antique and has the HAC brass plaque inside. This one seems to look as full of character as it always was with the fine wood grain warming your parlor. Of course it should have knocks and bumps commensurate with its age which add character but I couldn't find many and it still looks really great. Apart from some discoloration on the dial this clock is in great condition. The movement is a HAC so of very dependable German origin. The other amazingly unique part about this HAC is the fact that the chiming system produces the Westminster Big Ben Chime with only a 2 train movement. Usually 3 are necessary and you have to wind up three arbors. But this chimes the hour on the hour with a musical chord and plays the Big Ben song on the other 3 quarter hours. This clock is not only classy it is running quite well. It has a lovely artistic brass circular metal pendulum and is supplied with key shown. Very suitable for a large home. Pendulum still has the clear blue protective plastic. Pendulum has been detached and taped to the back simply for shipping purposes. Clock has been tested and is fully functional. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE WOODEN WALL CLOCK Original Patent Label Needs New Glass
Up for sale is this primitive antique wood wall clock. It comes from a private Conn estate and is very old. Overall it is in pretty good condition with the painted face in tact. But it does need some TLC. The original glass front was broken and needs replaced as well as some reinforcements throughout. The front door needs to be reattached to the front. There is some old paper in the inside front that says patent but I cannot make out the makers name due to the paper coming off in certain areas. It measures 30" x 17 1/2" x 4" The bottom part of the pendulum is there but not the rod and there are 2 pullies at the top an dthe key is missing for the clock. Thanks for looking!

Clock Collectors and Restorers this one is for you at the moment and you will find this one hard to get. Especially in such good untouched condition. It is an alarm clock in what was once a beautiful wooden case. It still looks great but could be stronger if reglued. It is held together with nails so although you could keep it old and untouched one might want to pull it to bits and glue it all together and polish it up. I will give others restorers first dibs and if no takers will unlist it and do my own restoration job on it. However although the case is fine as it is some people might think it needs restoring to bring it up to magnificent condition. The movement is great except for one thing. This item is an antique clock with a wooden cabinet that has metal trim. The cabinet is in decent condition and has no major damage. There is no back cover and there is not front glass on the face but both hands are still mounted. The clock is unbranded but does have a patent date on the movement: April 28. 1896. The movement frame has the number"8" stamped on it. The movement appears to be complete. The seller was unable to find any other distinguishing marks. Antique late 1800s Seth Thomas Wooden Kitchen Shelf Clock-WORKS. Almost perfectly. Another find from an old farmhouse estate sale. The clock is an 8-day time keeper. With wooden case, brass mechanical movement and"flying eagle" pendulum. I have not taken off the front dial, but what I can see of the workings is clean, a smooth running mechanism. The dial and gold color decorated glass are in original condition, but I think the key is newer. The front of the case is veneered wood, with a couple of distressed areas, that are hardly noticeable. I wound it and it has been running for over a week, chiming every hour and every half hour on the wound gong mechanism. I did notice that it has lost about 3-4 minutes over that time. There are some excellent web sites(some with pix) on these old clocks and one said that the movement of the ... morependulum can be adjusted to swing faster or slower, which I am sure must effect the time gain/loss; I have not tried it, as the little set screw that adjusts the pendulum is underneath the dial. This clock has to be level to operate properly. It is a little dusty in the outside crevices. The measurements are: width of base-4 1/2" Length of base-15" and the height from bottom of base to top of clock is 22 1/2" The maker, Seth Thomas Clock Co. is embossed in the wrought iron"gong" mechanism and the dial has, in script, the initials ST. Has an umbrella stand and decorative staircase railings, walls. There is a small spot where the finish is off on one side of the grandfather clock and a small discoloration on the bottom front.
