Nice Antique Teutonia German Mantle Shelf Clock - Time and Strike - Works Good
We have up for sale a nice old German shelf clock. Has been running in our house. There is no glass on face. There is paint scuffs on case and looks like the little knob on top of case has been reglued. On back of case there is a label saying Teutonia Clock Manufactory. Under trademark shows Made in Baden. Under that is the word Warranted, then P.H.S, then it is numbered(can make out only 351) The P.H.S stands for Phillip Haas& Sohn. There is another label at the top on back of case saying(name) Jeweler and Silversmith established(unreadable) then Hemel Hemstead. There is small damage to the wood on case where this label is(as shown in pic) On the movement there is a mark with P.H.S with a rabbit above it. Comes with pendulum and key. You are bidding on this DRESDEN. Antique desk/ Alarm Clock from Germany, in full functioning condition. This piece is also in an EXCELENT cosmetic and functioning condition! Having a windable movement which keeps accurate time. The most special about this clock is off course it's appearance; which is created by the use of marble and lots of brass. The green base and roof come in marble. Making this time piece very heavy for its size. The side pieces and"pillars" come in brass showing a nice patina. The ball on top of the clock is also made of marble with another top on which comes in brass. Definately this clock had to have the appearance of a church/ chapel! In front you find a facated glass window without any scratches. The colours of the marble are SO bright. This beauty is running great. Keeps accurate time and the alarm ... morealso works as it should. The alarm is set by moving the alarm handle to the present time. Then you wind the alarm handle and have to set it on the time you want it to go off. This way it goes off at the chosen time. On top there is a richly decorated BRASS and there are also lots of brass decorations on the base. Corners and top of this beauty. The dial seems to be made of porcelain and is in an absolute perfect condition There are black metal hands and there is a separate alarm hand(in brass) The dial show Roman numbers; the scales are divided in 60 partitions; one for each minute. At the rear you find a door which can be opened to set the time. Alarm and wind the clock. This control panel is marked with"DRESDEN" Everything is original and it passed time without major cosmetic issues. Overall this object is in a very good state but not new. Late 19th-Century Antique German Lenzkirch A.U.G. Mantle Clock Circa 1892 SN 952787 11 1/4”L x 7 3/4”D x 15 7/8”H Handsome. Figured walnut case with classical detailing houses a clock movement by the famous maker Lenzkirch of Germany. The clock is signed on the back of the works as follows: Lenzkirchand/ A.U.G. 52” The factory logo on this model began to be used in 1875(Lenzkirch website) The works are also hand-incised at back as follows. A57/ 15” The back of the wood case has fleur-de-lis cut-outs to enhance the audibility of the chimes. The gilt brass dial has a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals. The gilt interior of the ring has been acid-etched to produce a distinctive light-catching textured disk. There are gilt ormolu ornaments in the spandrels featuring swags and cherubs. The story behind this clock is that it was purchased by a U.S. Air Force member in England in 1965 from an antique store.
