This is a fabulous Pair of Antique Solid Brass Roccoco 2 Arm CandleWall Sconces. They are large at 17" tall with a 2" wide wall bracket with 2 screw holes and a 15" span from arm to arm. The twisted leaf design arms ar 14" long with a 5" span from the wall. Each candle cup is 2.5" x 2.5" with a 4" round bobeche. They are in very good condition with slight age related patina nad some oxidation on the backside where the metal has been joined, There is a spot of oxidation on the front of one, very tiny, not noticable. What a beautiful Antique Pair of Hand Wrought Italian Gilt Floral Sconces! These can stand or be hung on the wall! They each measure approximately 14" tall and 11.5" wide. There are 2 arms on each with a 3.5" bobeche and 1" x 1.5" candle cup. There are 5 roses and 32 leaves of various sizes on each. Up for consideration is extra fine pair of French Bronze Wall Sconces in original Paint. They measure 15 1/4 inches tall by 10 inches wide by 5 inches deep. They are in incredible condition with fine jewelry quality casting. They are marked numbers on the back please see photos. The sconces are made of gilded bronze with enameled paint. One sconce has been rewired one has original cloth wiring. They date from about 1910. Sconces of this style and form do not get much better than this in quality. Georgia(Buckhead) They are in beautiful condition and the quality of the fixtures will not disappoint. Our home was a custom home in 1983 and we had a lighting allowance of $2,500 at that time. I"Blow" a big chunk of our lighting allowance on these two fixtures and some Casablanca ceiling fans! Brass fixtures are making a huge come back in the interior design market! They must have been coated with an anti-tarnish finish, because no polishing has ever been done. (2) Set of Antique Double Arm Solid Brass Wall Light Sconces-Rewired-w/sockets
I used to polish all my brass lights until I learned. Not all buyers like the high polished look. Some like them just like you see these. If I polish them, I loose a little of the market of buyers because they like the patina left on the light. If you prefer yours polished, these would look amazing and it wouldn't be hard at all with just a little time and some brasso. I found these in the rafters of an out building at an estate sale. They wasn't in terrible condition but the sockets were pretty much toast. The lights used to have the type socket with a roll switch on each socket. One of the pics shows where the flange just below the bulb has the place cut out for such a socket. If you want, you could put this type socket back in it. The opening can be turned to the back so it can't be seen. I just think it limits as to where ... morethe lights could be used if the switch was on the socket. You could just turn it on before mounting them and the switch would then work them but most of the time these will be used where you can't reach the light to use that type switch. Anyway, it has brand new sockets and wire in it, so they are ready to use if this application fits your needs. These are solid brass and not plated. Judging by the sockets that was in them and the wiring, I'd say 30's or 40's but I don't think they are any newer than that. Beautiful matching set and well made. You should know their size by the pics I took with a tape measure. The shades are pretty common and you can still find many different ones to go with these. These are also versital because you can turn them up or down. Each shade holder only has 2 out of 3 of the screws that holds the shades in the light. Plenty enough if they are turned up, if you mount them turned down, you will probably need to make sure you have all 3 screws in the holder or the shade will fall out.
