Vintage Chamber Pot Enamel on Steel White w/ Red Trim and Lid Black Wood Handle
Vintage porcelain enamel on steel chamber pot. The base has gently curving sides in white with a line of red trim around the top rim. It's large enough and sturdy enough to sit on(of course) The lid fits well and is solid fire engine red. There is a wire handle on the base that has a rotating. Black wooden handle. It stands about 9 1/2" tall, is 10" wide and weighs just under 3 pounds. It came from an estate sale and it's not marked for manufacturer or age. It's clean and in good condition. There are two chips in the enamel on the bottom edge, four small rust spots inside and a few light marks from age.

Very Sriking Flow Blue pattern accented with a bright red poppy and green foiliage on one side and the rim. Other side does not have green accwnts. There are gold accent lines. But some areas have faded especaially by the handle.No crazing,cracks or chips. Tiny manufacturing flaw on the side of the rim to the left of the handle mentioned for accuracy. Red highlights on the handle attachments and a solid red lid(very unusual) with original metal and wood handle. The pot measures 8" high and 9.5" wide. Enamel is in good condition with minor rust spots and chips as expected with an antique pot. The lid has a couple minor small chips(see photos) but is in very good condition. This diaper pail or chamber pot is white with red trim. Its wooden handle is still bright! It has a few chips in the enamel- 2 on the outside of the lid. And two on the inside. There are several along the underside of the rim, or did the porcelain just adhere poorly? Two more chips on the exterior bottom. This was sitting in a furnace room for decades& it was covered with soot! It didn't wash out with bleach or trisodium phosphate, so it's got a dingy gray cast to it. Vintage Red Transferware Chamber pot
I love this piece for it's art deco-like trim on the lip. It has lovey flowers on the sides. Very delicate. I use mine for houseplants. My mom-in-law gave it to me and she said it was from the 1930's. It was made in England and it says Doulton and Buttercup on the bottom. It has a very sweet look, shabby chic meets art deco. My photo doesn't do it justice, but it looks incredible when filled with houseplants. At Christmas you can fill with pine boughs or ornaments. Perfect Valentine's gift! Just fill with blooming plants and you vintage loving sweetheart will be impressed!

Use this as a decorator piece in your modern bathroom! Before indoor bathrooms were popular. These chamber pots were used in every bedroom/household. People used these pots so that they wouldn't have to make a trip out to the outhouse in the cold, dark night. In the morning these full pots were carried out and dumped in the outhouse. Judging by the size. This one was probably used by youngsters between the ages of 5–12. This one is unique because it has a lid and the original manufacturer's label on the side. It reads. Columbian, Serving the Home Since 1871; Porcelain Enameled Steel; Made in U.S.A. by Columbian, Terre Haute, Indiana; General Steel Wares Limited; GSN logo) Exclusive Canadian Distributors. The pot has a red rim and the lid has a black rim but they fit perfectly together. The handle is a slightly rusted metal with a ... moregray Bakelite( grasping handle. I don't think plastic, as we know it today, was widely used during this time period but I understand that Bakelite was used, however, I can't guarantee this. There is also a ripped price tag on the side of the pot which I cannot read. SIZES: Pot only—7 1/2" tall x 9 3/4" diameter top. Total height with handle straight up is 13" Lid—10 1/8" diameter x 2" height CONDITION: There are several dents. Chips and scratches on the lid and pot. There are also several rust spots on the pot which someone tried to cover with a clear varnish or acrylic to stop the erosion, I suppose. The repair work is difficult to see in the photos.
